The Official LOST Season Five *No Spoilers* Thread

I've been doing some thinking since last week and I've come up with the same old, tired theory but I just can't let it go.
I know the writers/producers have assured us that the Losties are not dead. But have they assured us that the others aren't dead?

Here's why I think they are dead or on the very outer edge of dead;
1. When Ben was cleaning up the hatch and putting the books in alphabetical order, the book in his hand was "The Occurance at Owl Creek Bridge". The premise of the book is basically a man is being hanged, the rope breaks and he escapes back to his home and wife. Just as he reaches his wife - SNAP - the rope hangs him. It all happened in his head.
2. The woman who plays Eloise, we've seen her with Ben and with Desmond. She was also one of the stars in the movie "The Others" in which she plays a charactor that we don't realize is actually dead until the very end of the movie.
There's other little subtleties in there as well, but it seems too coincidental to me. Or maybe those darned writers are just throwing me off...

I think the writers are trying to throw you. Early on in the show during interviews with Lindoff and Cuse the creators of the show they made certain commitments and promises and one of them was, they are not dead, or in pergatory. They are very much alive and living through the events you see. They always sidestepped any questions concerning time travel and never said yes or no. Now the cat is out of the bag and obviously time travel is involved.

As to Charlotte being the little girl that was Ben's friend I just don't buy it. Besides the accent thing, and age thing, there is the one other thing that stands out every time they show a shot of her. Her eyes are amazingly blue. Maybe its the HD tv we got for Christmas but its almost like the people making the show are intentially showing it for some reason. When I get the time I want to pull out my dvd of that season and look at Ben's friend again and see if she had the same eyes. Also it seems that short of memory loss had she been that girl she would have some recollection of the island. I think she may have been born there and probably like Miles left at a very young age and not remember it. She is probably some known Other's daughter.

I posed a similar question to DD15 last night:
Why do Ellie and Widmore have no British accent on the island but the older Eloise and the older Widmore are definately British??
My daughter's reply, "Come on mom, these people even speak Latin. You think they can't fake an accent?" :rotfl2:

And it's still killing me that the older Eloise that we see with Ben was the same lady that had a huge role in the movie The Others! The producers of Lost must have fun thinking this stuff up!

Very bright kid you've got there! :thumbsup2

I thought Ellie and Widmore did have accents on the island. :confused3

Thank you! :thumbsup2 I thought so too. I'm pretty sure they do.

My Sawyer nickname is Skeletor. I'm not that pale looking!

So I was messing around on a Lost fansite and I saw them mention the water bottle they found in the canoe. It had the Ajira Airways logo on it. Go to www.AjiraAirways.com for some good chuckles.

It was a viral thing they did over the summer. I wonder if it'll have something to do with the 6 getting back to the island and if so, what is the bottle doing there at that moment. Certainly an airline water bottle doesn't fit with a seemingly handmade canoe...Although the airline is an adventure airline, so maybe it was built by them for authenticity...

Or it could be nothing. lol

Looks like the water bottle came down with the presumed plane that Rousseau was in? That website was funny! Destination Destiny? :rotfl2:

Next weeks episode should be good. I think the confrontation between Sun and Ben will be fantastic!

I have to chime in on Charlotte really being Annie (Ben's childhood friend). I don't think it's possible. You know how Ben is - he knows everything about everybody. Remember when charlotte first parachuted onto the island and she ended up with Locke's group and they were taking her with them to "New Otherton". Ben shot Charlotte, but she was wearing a bullet-proof vest. Ben filled them in on Charlotte - her full name was Charlotte Staples Lewis, parents are A and B, she's from some city in England, studied anthropology at XYZ university, etc. etc. If she were really Annie, (A) Ben would surely have known it and (B) I don't think Ben would have shot her.

Annie had dark eyes. I thought the same thing.

I don't really put too much stock in this, but it occurred to me last night after reading some of the recent posts that perhaps Juliette was Annie. Remember when Ben called her "his"?

I miss the smoke monster.

I'm not sure, but didn't someone say that Juliet looked just like 'her'? Meaning Annie?

They do! Being british myself I tend to find it easy to detect a british accent in American shows. mind you Alan Dale (Widmore) has got more of a badly disguised Aussie accent than a British one! ;)

But how could Juliette be Annie? Didn't she first go to the island as a doctor? Surely she would have known if she had been there as a child? :confused3

Yes! There was that too, I couldn't remember but I knew there was something else- thanks. They never specified who the "her" was but it fits.

True, and one of the reasons I don't hold much stock in it. But stranger things have happened on that island than memory loss. :p
