The Official LOST Season Five *No Spoilers* Thread

I thought the theory about Charlotte was that she's the little girl that befriended Ben when he first came to the island as a child. Remember her? I think it was revealed that she survived the purge; but don't know what ever came of her.

I do remember that! And that would make sense that she was on the island quite some time ago. But wouldn't she remember that?

The beginning of the premiere shows the Dr. from the Dharma videos at home taking his turn getting up with the baby. Which to DH and I looked like a white baby with blonde hair and blue eyes! But, we were watching on the computer so the picture wasn't the best- can anyone confirm/deny that? I didn't bring it up before because I figured if it had been someone would have said something...

Thank you! I DO remember that now!

As for my Sawyer nickname? He can call me Shortcake anytime he wants! :rotfl2:

I must admit, I was starting to think the episode was dragging a little, but it certainly picked up in the last 20 minutes. So obviously this is how Ben convinces Sun to come back to the island.

::yes::

I thought Sun was going to be in all the bad stuff (i.e. she teamed up with Widmore) to get her revenge on Jin "dying"

Ben's delivery is as usual Awesome. "He's my Lawyer." "No, Jack, she's right it was me." Simple easy lines, but somehow when Ben says them they are gold.

:rotfl: :thumbsup2 ITA!

My nickname is MUTTONCHOPS! :rotfl2:

Juliette was bought to the island by Ben years ago to help with the problem of all the pregnant women dying. I'm not sure of exactly how many years she's been there; I know it's been mentioned though.

So you thing Juliette's nose is bleeding bacause she has been there for so long vs. she was there once before and does not remember like Daniel told Miles.

:rotfl2: Sundance!! that's a nice Sawyer nickname!

Here's what I'm confused about, I think I missed something last week, then last night I was hoping the pop-ups from last week's episode would fill me in, but we got this message about the switch to digital on our local station at the bottom of the screen, right during the entire university scene, and it covered up all the pop-up info! :headache:

Anyway, when Desmond went to the university, he was looking for Daniel's mom, right? Did they ever mention her name?

Who gave him the name of woman in the bed? It was Theresa something, right? And the sister was Abigail? Why was he sent to see her?

Then, Widmore gave him Daniel's mom's address, right? but it's in California?

Thanks!

I think Desmond just assumed that Daniel's mom would have the last name of Faraday, too. When they couldn't find her, he also asked for DANIEL Faraday, and they had no record of Daniel, either.

As for the name of the woman in the bed and her sister, remember when Desmond found Daniel's lab at Oxford and that other guy walked in? When Desmond said that the university had no record of Daniel ever having worked at Oxford, the guy said it was no wonder after what happened to "her". So it's kind of obvious that Desmond got that woman's name and address from the guy in Daniel's lab.

I have heard this too but could she have gone from that little girl to Charlotte and had the total accent change. Dialects and accents are pretty well formed by the time you are the age Ben and the little girl were. And while some of the actors accents are a little off I can't imagine going from plain jane Amercan english to a heavy British accent over that period of her life.

Yes, I think Juliet's nose is bleeding because she has spent some time on the island (which she remembers) but she hasn't been there her whole life; and obviously neither has Miles - because we saw some of his back story last year. I'm wondering if Miles was born on the island and then left as an infant, therefore not remembering his time there.

As for Charlotte, I'm not sure she remembers her previous time on the island. There was a flashback for her last year and didn't she say she was looking for where she was born? Or where she was from? It was the scene when she uncovered the polar bear in the desert during a dig.

The woman in the bed was in a picture in Daniel's old office at Oxford; I think that guy who saw Desmond there told him the girl's name. Des went to see her, hoping to get more info.

I think alot of people are thinking Mrs.Hawkins is Daniel's mother because a). Daniel said his mother was in Oxford and Hawkins, we know, lived in England; and b). during that episode, they showed her scribbling equations and etc. on a chalkboard - she seemed "brainy" like Daniel.

This will be very interesting if she is Daniel's mother and Widmore is his father. Obviously Widmore is keeping track of her because he now had her current address in LA. But Hawkins is now in cahoots with Ben? Why?

I think if she moved young enough her accent could have formed - look at Madonna and her British accent! :rotfl2:

I remember Charlotte saying that but didn't Daniel have some kind of reaction to that, too? Or Miles?

And I've got myself convinced that Widmore and Hawkins are Daniel's parents. But now that Rousseau is back and we'll get to see her in her early years, I'm sure we'll get to see Ben and how they got together and how Ben "took the island" from Widmore.

Is it Wednesday yet? :hyper:

I highly doubt that Charlotte is the little girl that be-friended Ben when he was a boy. She is much younger than Ben. When they were kids on the island they seemed to be about the same age.

That's a very good point. I don't know if she's much younger than Ben though - but younger by at least a few years.

But you know these Lost writers - I never understood how they could make Swoosie Kurtz and the guy from "Emergency" be Locke's parents. They all look the same age to me!:confused3

I posed a similar question to DD15 last night:
Why do Ellie and Widmore have no British accent on the island but the older Eloise and the older Widmore are definately British??
My daughter's reply, "Come on mom, these people even speak Latin. You think they can't fake an accent?" :rotfl2:

And it's still killing me that the older Eloise that we see with Ben was the same lady that had a huge role in the movie The Others! The producers of Lost must have fun thinking this stuff up!

I can't agree with this. I've seen accents change with people in their young twenties. I follow US soccer very seriously and have seen US players go over to England to play and then talked to them or heard them interviewed on TV and their accents were clearly affected.

Hi all! I've been enjoying this thread and everyone's theories. I was excited to see Jin last night!

Sawyer's nickname for me is Sugarpop. :thumbsup2
