Where have you booked for?

We have: 50's Prime Time, Biergarten, Bomas (breakfast), 1900 Park Fare, Whispering Canyons and T-Rex. ESPN Club doesn't take ressies so we are hoping they have room for 10 people on the day we leave!

Our DD turns 5 in January, & the whole trip is for her.

However, I'm working on surprising DH for our anniversary, which is the following week of DD bday (and a week before my bday). I haven't figured out how or what to surprise DH with, or where, but there's 127 days left to figure that out.

So im curious to see everyone input on why you chose to come in January! Have you been in January before? what were the pros and cons?


For me personally, i chose for one important reason: the crowds! I wanted my BFs first time to be enjoyable so that he could really take it in. (this is also prime for disney brainwashing so that another trip in the future is negociable, hehe! )

I have only ever been to disney in the very busy summer season, so i am very curious and excited to see what its like in a slower time of the year!

So im curious to see everyone input on why you chose to come in January! Have you been in January before? what were the pros and cons?

We've been to WDW in every month and find that each one has its great advantages and disadvantages. So it's all good!!

We chose January b/c:

1) my youngest will turn 3 in March and by going in January, it's still the lowest crowds and she is FREE!!!

2) my oldest has a day off of school the last week in January, so we can actually leave Thursday night, arrive on a Friday, stay for 9 nine days but only take off 5 days of school.

4 months from today!! Yeah!!

We love January because the crowds are pretty low. When we first started going in 2000 they were non-existent. They have picked up quite a bit since then, thanks BTGs, but it's a tradition now to look past Christmas to our next trip. And it's also warmer that NY (except last year). The hot tub is the best thing to soak in every night. Last year we couldn't run from the hot tub to the elevators at BWV fast enough. Brrrr! Hoping for warmer weather this year!!

I'm going in January because I am running the 1/2 marathon!

its a mini 5 day trip for the hubby and I, no kids!

I'm going in January because we roasted in the heat in Sept/Oct and I swore the next trip would be much much cooler weather. I am hoping for low crowds and short wait times. I asked here for a good time to visit and a lot of Dis'ers recommended January.

Mommy2 - we are going to be at Pop the exact same time you are. This is also a Christmas surprise for the kids. We are going with my family, brother & his family, sister & her fiancee and my parents. Only one of the kids has been before and they are all dying to go (they just don't know it will be so soon!).

We are surprising them the same way as you - box of balloons and park items (autograph book, pressed penny books, countdown calendars, etc.). I found some great balloons on Amazon that we just used for their Disney World birthday party, they have Mickey's face and the ears blow up (they are latex, not the Mylar ones). They are so cute that we saved some for their big Christmas day surprise.

Hopefully no one let's it slip before the big day!

That's so cool that we'll be there at the same time. Maybe we'll see eachother around

I hope we can keep it a secret as well. Sometimes I feel like I going to burst only 128 more days to go!

BFF and I are going for our second Jan. trip because....we are both celebrating our birthdays there.
Low crowds, no lines really, the weather can be anything.......but it is Disney World, so we just go prepared.

i know this is the most hashed out topic in the book, but sometimes i get a little worried about the crowd situation... never being before, im soley relying on other resources to tell me what its like. and ive heard everything from being dead, to being "crowded" like much busier times of the year! so confusing! .....i jusxt want it to be a good trip for my bf. hes so excited to go and has never been, but his number one worry is crowds!

Honestly there can be some crowds days in January, but they are few and very far between. New Years day can be busy if it's falls on a weekday, only bc that often opens up the school to not go back until the following Monday, hence longer vacations for families concerned about taking kids out of school. It can also be a little busy over MLK weekend, and possibly the marathon weekend. But is it like middle of the summer, busy, lines 90+ min for Peter Pan? Heck no! Not even close.

Since you're not going until the end of the month, I think you'll be absolutely be fine on the crowd levels.

Yay! I just booked our trip and all our ADRs tonight! Jan 21-28! We were actually thinking of going in Nov, and I couldn't get most of the ADR's I wanted, so we gave up and switched to Jan.....Low crowds and Temps here we come!!!

Those are the exact dates we will be there. Which resort? We are staying at OKW.

We will be at Pop Century. I am getting so excited! The past few years we have been at the World in August, so I will be thrilled to not have to fight the crowds and 100degree temps!!! I think we picked a great time to go!!!
