**The Official January 2012 WDW Thread**

We are going at the same time but staying at the Pop. I loved Coronado when we were there 5 years ago. We stayed at POR last August and it was just too hot. We melted waiting for the buses. The one thing I will say is that the buses at Coronado were not crowded. We actually got a seat.

I have never gone to WDW in January and I am excited for the cooler temps as well as the smaller crowds. This will be our 6th trip to the World. Has anyone been there before in Jan and how was it? Were you able to spend time at the pool or is it too cold?:dance3:

January is our pick as far as when to go, we've been several times in January and swam everytime. We would never spend a whole day at a water park or anything, but an afternoon dip in the pool during our mid day break is okay with us! Plus it helps that the pools at Disney are heated to 80 degrees.

The weather itself is usually pretty good, with a high in the high 60's to mid/high 70's. In the morning and evening it can get a little chilly but we just always bring a hoodie with us and we're okay.

Regardless of what the weather is like in Orlando, it's still probably atleast 40-50's warmer then what it is at home so I'm okay with that!

Congrats! Which resort?

Port Orleans French Quarter. It's so beautiful there and I can't wait to call it "home". I'm planning this trip for Mom and I and it will be her first and probably only stay on property. I think she is going to fall in love with the resort. I don't know how pretty is will be in the dead of winter in late Jan and hoping they have some color in the gardens and something in bloom. I've only even been in Sept/Oct so not sure what to expect in Jan.

This is true, I am from Philly and for the past 2 years in Jan we have been having some massive blizzards and ice storms so it will be great to leave them behind for the week! Oh and the fact that no one plows the streets in Philly I am a little worried that will happen the day we leave. Keep praying for a mild winter this year.

Finally returning to WDW after a 4 year hiatus...it's been awful depressing. But now I can do the happy dance once again!!!!!!!!!
We have plans for January 2 through 22 at SSR

:cheer2: :dance3: :cheer2: :cheer2: :dance3:
Holy cow, 20 days?! That's awesome!!!

It is beautiful. :lovestruc I've only stayed there once, but I still remember how pretty it was. I'm sure she will love it! Hopefully someone else will have an answer about the gardens, but I'm sure they will have something in bloom then.

POFQ is a very beautiful resort. We have stayed there once, it was in June. I am sure it is just a pretty in January, because Disney is always planting and replanting so that everything always looks beautiful.

We have been to WDW in December for the last 5 years and the grounds are always beautiful, everywhere.

WOW!! When you return, you return BIG! 20 days in the world is AWESOME!!:cool1:

I just had to cut my trip short due to work/scheduling conflicts but it's okay I will still be there Jan. 2nd-8th!!! 6 days in WDW I am totally cool with that :cool1:

So excited! :yay: I just booked our January 2012 trip. We're staying Jan 8 - 14 at Pop century! The kids don't know yet, it's part of their Christmas gift. Can't wait to see their faces on Christmas morning! :cool1:

We're going to be there at the same time; we're 8-13 at Coronado Resort and out little one doesn't know either. I want to surprise her at Christmas but DH wants to wait until the day we leave... we're still 'arguing' over when to tell DD.

We went the end of Sept 2010 and it was awful - heat wise. I am not a heat and humidity person (and I live in MD where that's our summers) and I was hoping it would have been a little cooler... what was I thinking?!:rotfl:

I went to Miami in January 2009 for a cruise and it was 75... amazing for us, but cold to my FL friends :confused3. So, if this coming January were to be in the 75's I would be so freaking happy! ... I wonder if the pools are heated at Coronado...

We stayed at the Caribbean Beach on our first trip; it was nice.. loved their main pool and the transit was always empty. The only down side was the bus stops and how it seemed to take forever to walk there (but that could have been due to the heat and humidity at 7am...).

The hubs and I are debating if we want to keep our reservation at Coronado or try Port Orleans... anyone have any input?

We decided to have Disney be the Christmas gift so that way they'd get the surprise factor and they'd get to anticipate the trip some. For me the anticpation is half the fun! We're planning to wrap up a big box filled with disney balloons with a note attached saying "We're going to disney world." so when they open it the balloons float out. In the bottom will be some goodies for our trip (autograph books, ear hats, etc.) I can't wait :goodvibes

Well now my DH has decided to come along on our trip, which is nice bc he can see how excited DS will be, and help with bedtimes/ melt downs/ the plane trip, plus we can maybe have a date night with Grandma watching little man. But now I also have to redo all of our ADR's. I'm hoping I can find availability on all of our picks, but I'm not holding my breath.

We will be at Pop Jan 7-14. I can only imagine their expressions and then only having a few days wait until they get to go, that would be nice.

I didn't see myself on the list so must not have posted on this thread yet. We will be at OKW Jan. 20-27, 2012. First time in a 1BR. Can't wait to luxuriate! :cloud9:

My boyfriend and I will be there at the Carribean from january 27 - feb 4 !!!!! :lovestruc :cloud9: :cheer2:

this will be my first time going since I was a teenager, and it will be my bf's very first time ever! we are so excited we can hardly wait!!!

this is a major acheivement for us, because we have been trying for so long to save up money to go...so when free dining was announced we jumped on the opportunity and were even able to upgrade from value to moderate with the savings!

SO EXCITED!!!

Can I join in!! :goodvibes

Going sans kids in January with my hubby for Marathon weekend! :thumbsup2
Me and DH, Jan 6-10 at YC

I was going to run the full.. I ran the half this past year.. but decided to run the half again.

My aunt, my hubby and a few friends are all running the half. So to I decided to run the half as well so we all can be on the same schedule. For those who don't know.. you have to get up at like 3am to run the marathons!! this way, we only have to all get up on Saturday and then have the rest of the weekend to relax!

I haven't read the whole thread so I'll go back to read!! :)

So im curious to see everyone input on why you chose to come in January! Have you been in January before? what were the pros and cons?

For me personally, i chose for one important reason: the crowds! I wanted my BFs first time to be enjoyable so that he could really take it in. (this is also prime for disney brainwashing so that another trip in the future is negociable, hehe! )

I have only ever been to disney in the very busy summer season, so i am very curious and excited to see what its like in a slower time of the year!

The main reason we picked January is because it's a Christmas gift to the kids. The low crowds and cooler temps are a BIG bonus.

What are the temps like? I read the average "highs" are in the mid 70's which to me sounds like HEAVEN. but so many people on disboards complain of it being COLD! I understand at nightime it will be cool enough probably for a light jacket, but how does everyone feel about the day?
