The nothing negative about Disney post

Disney does actually pay attention to this and other social media sites.

I concur!!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions.

This past August, my daughter got a bad insect bite in HS, so we went to the on-site clinic, which happens to be next to Guest Relations. While we were there, we over heard a guest at Guest Relations complaining about how after they waited 90 minutes in line to get onto Star Tours, they were unable to enjoy the ride or watch the screen because someone tall and overweight sitting in front of them was blocking their view. The guest was demanding Guest Relations for a Fast Pass onto Star Tours. I was appalled at what I was hearing.

For the record, I've been on Star Tours MANY TIMES and the seating is luck of the draw. One time on Star Tours, I thought I had the actual Chewbacca sitting in front of me. A tall burly man totally obstructed my view the entire time. However, I said nothing, enjoyed the ride as best I could, and went on my merry way when it was over.

With regards to my daughter's insect bite, they gave us some Neosporin to slather on the bite, and we went back outside to join in on the Frozen Summer Fun.

I've heard of guests running to Guest Relations and complaining of an insect bite or injury; and demand a free park ticket for the "inconvenience, pain and suffering." (Source: one of my kids is a former Cast Member)

Unfortunately... some guests do believe that because they are spending a lot of money at WDW, they are privileged and need to be overly compensated. Disney will do the best they can, within reason, to accommodate and keep their guests happy. But please don't expect the World to give you the WORLD!

Magic Kingdom cannot be seen in one day, therefore, if you only have one day to spare at Magic Kingdom. Make the best of it.

Really I'm just glad I'm not them. I'm joyful at Disney. I know it's my happy place. Disneys not perfect but any time I've had an issue they have made it right. I love the place. Top to bottom. A world without Disney is a world I don't wanna be in. Anyone who has a negative opinion about the place is like a pesky fly I swat away. They can find some other turd to land on.

Did I mention I LOVE DISNEY!?!?!?!

Are you for real? I read this as sarcasm...

The thing though is that vehemently complaining on an unofficial Disney forum does exactly diddly squat except make that person feel validated in their whining.

In our capitalist society, your money is your voice.
In a world where people pay employees to scour social media, and even hire third-party vendors to so the same, and set up computer-driven nets to scan for chatter, your statements simply are not true.

Instead of bemoaning the less than perfect time I have for my CRT reservation, I'm going to focus on being able to get in at all.

I think there is 2 sides to this. The "I'll make it work and have fun anyway" attitude your talking about which is great advice.. And then there is the letting disney and others know its a place guest experience is negative so they can investigate possible ways to improve or expand. Out of sight is out of mind and how is disney suppose to know things are less than perfect if nobody speaks up? We all know disney reads this forum (I think) so while it'll come over as moaning, it's just an example of guest frustration getting planned and prepared and a place

Yes, there will always be people who whine and moan because that's what they enjoy doing and there are those who feel entitled and try to take advantage of the company. Then there are those with legitimate concerns about some of the policies in place. Let's not get the two confused here.

We do not travel to Disney often, about every 10 years or so, but we were able to go in July this year. We were on IASW and my daughter said something to me, honestly I don't remember what exactly, that sparked a conversation about Disney's attention to detail and how it is those details that make our trip worth every penny while many are uncomfortable with the cost. Ironically, one of my favorite memories was the 3 of us walking down a path at AK during a very light shower and just laughing uncontrollably. I have no idea now why we were laughing I just remember savoring the moment that my two teenagers and I were enjoying and it included nothing but us and a walkway! I am soo glad we went on the trip as many tell me soon we will be heading into the period when they will not want to be seen with me, hopefully not but if we do we had a great time at Disney together!

Yes, they do, and they may "adjust" things accordingly based on internet discussions and guest feedback.

Lol. No it's not sarcasm.

Okay, I couldn't tell at first. Glad to hear it's such a happy place for you! I used to feel the same way back when I was 21 and doing my internship there. I guess it's lost a bit of the magic for me although I still enjoy my trips for the most part. The crowds are my biggest challenge.

Thank you for posting this! I am sooooooooo sick of the "FP+ Ruined my life" posts! I started coming here for advice on how to make my Disney trips even better, but it is getting difficult to weed through all of the complaining.

And BigAlsGal, I did not take your post as sarcasm at all. I feel the same way!!!

The only thing i don't like in Disney it is that i have to return at home! Nooooooooooo!

It is The only place on Earth where i can feel great with my disability. Return Time is awsome! I can relax on a bench, sip my iced water and take The Time to look all fantastic is that i am there.

But I bet if you really stop to think about it, and you are being totally honest with yourself, you will agree that you have learned at least as many "fixes", "hacks", "strategies" and "best practices" from the people who complained about something than you have from the people who pee rainbows.

The fundamental difference between the positive and the negative posts in this thread appears to be the "optimists" are saying it is their family and their memories that make the trip while the "pessimists" seem to be suggesting that Disney is not doing it's best to make the trip worthwhile in the first place. I use quotations because I think it boils down to two different sets of expectations more than being optimistic or pessimistic.

Ultimately it comes down to expectations. I fall in the camp that believes I am paying Disney to offer up some experiences that wow my kids and give them a way to connect with the worlds and characters they watch on TV and read about. The trip is for them first and foremost. So if we don't get towel animals, or room service is late, or a ride has a long line, or I can't get a certain ADR, or Hollywood Studios is an empty shell because they have closed half the park in prep for construction - then the first thing I do is ask myself if it will have a negative impact on my kids perception and enjoyment.

For example, I found out after we booked our trip that they were doing construction on Wilderness Lodge, which is where we were booked. I waited to see what the extent of the construction was, and after seeing the number of amenities that would be down and considering that it wouldn't be very "outdoorsy" to have bulldozers and construction equipment around (which in turn would ruin the 'magic' of Disney for my kids and make the entire place appear to be that much more mundane) I decided I should look into alternatives. But, before I had a chance too, Disney contacted me and asked if there was anything they could do to fix the situation. Moments later we were upgraded to a new resort, and the issue was resolved.

Last time I went to the parks, the worst part of it was other people. All the drunks at the Food & Wine festival for example. Or the entitled punk families who push their way around and seem to be absolutely miserable about the whole experience.

I have a feeling that miserable family has several members on this board.

No one is telling anyone else how they HAVE to feel here. I got the impression the OP was just looking for a thread where people could post positive experiences or thoughts about Disney. I have no idea why that offends some of you or why others decided that she was telling you how to think or how to "adjust your attitude". Even if her wording suggested that much, isn't it easier to just move along as opposed to go into a thread that is designed for purpose A specifically to tout purpose B? When I see a thread about Maelstrom these days, I avoid it like the plague. I am beyond sick of people whining about it. So what good does it do me to go into that thread when i already know what they are going to be saying and I already know the posters are so fervent in their disgust over the defacing of the world pavilion that there is absolutely nothing I can say to make a difference.

I'm rambling now, but I had two points. The first is simply that different folks have different expectations when it comes to a vacation. It appears that those who have the biggest chips on their shoulders also have the highest expectations. And secondly, while everyone is entitled to moan and complain, why not let the OP have one thread full of positive posts. I may not see things as perfect and sunshiney as others on the board, but I don't feel the need to rush in and rain on parades either. There are some very childish posts in this thread that seem to boil down to, "I disagree so LISTEN TO ME LISTEN TO ME LISTEN TO ME AND SEE IT MY WAY". The op asked for a positive post. Can she not have it?

Feel free to go and start a post all about the negative things about Disney and I will defend your right to have that post just as much as I'll defend this OP's right to ask for this thread.
