The no-Covid talk BEST BBQ IN YOUR AREA thread. Bring it!

Martin's BBQ. There are other great locations in and around Nashville, but Martins is the best that's closest to us, south of Nashville
Jim N Nicks good too for a chain.

I'm in Southern Illinois - Marion. Grew up in Memphis and lived in South Carolina and Arkansas for a few years so lots of BBQ experiences. Back in Memphis, Topps was considered the best in my neck of the woods. But now, I would say I like the BBQ in my area better. We have 17th St BBQ (originally from Murphysboro) and winner at Memphis in May a few years ago. They have excellent pulled pork. But recently we had a food truck move in to the area. They call themselves Blazing Trails - Texas BBQ. I have tried all they offer - the best ever is the Brisket. Tender and juicy - just amazing. And the pork ribs are also really good - fall of the bone delicious.

The legend in my area was a place called Flint's. They had a few places that seemed to never be open when I went by and I wasn't sure what the deal was. The final location closed in 2010, but the owners now operate in pop-ups.

Another place is Everett & Jones with locations in Oakland, Berkeley, and Hayward. I used to eat from their pregame setup before Cal football games.

One I heard of but never went to was Big Nate's in San Francisco. It was owned by former Warriors player Nate Thurmond.

One I probably tried more than any other was at the Oakland Coliseum (also at the former Oracle Arena) called Ribs-N-Things. Haven't tried it in years and I'm not sure they're still there. I'd order their 3 beef ribs, which were huge. It would come with a side of potato salad. Dessert was extra, but they had peach cobbler or sweet potato pie.

YES, i really miss Flint's ..... it was great ! Everett & Jones is good, but I haven't been there in ages.
Always heard great things about Big Nate's.... wish I had gone.
I pick Famous Dave's every time over Lucille's ...... much better IMHO

The Chase Center has a barbecue stall they call Big Nate's but obviously it's just a name and not his place.

I'm not that big on it, but there was a place called Looney's Smokehouse BBQ in Berkeley. They used to have ads by the PA announcer at Haas Pavilion. I tried it a few times, but it was kind of expensive for what they had. I never sent to it, but there was also some place called T-REX.

In my area it's Bombshell Burgers and BBQ in Huntington, WV; no other is even close. The Sunday buffet, served cafeteria style, is amazing! A second location opened up in Ashland, KY, but I haven't been to that one.

Small World, I grew up in Louisa! I'm in Central KY now though.

I'm not a big BBQ person myself - I am just not really too into "sweet" meat and my DD10 has followed suite. DH likes it though. Around here (Lexington, KY area), the only ones I know of are probably all chains - Sonny's, City BBQ, and Red State BBQ comes to mind. I like Sonny's; I usually get the pulled chicken but it's been years since I was there.

How about Sweet Lucy’s on State Road? We’ve eaten there a number of times and thought it was very good. A number of co-workers recommended it to us.

You are right. I completely forgot about them. I've never been there but they aren't that far away. I have heard good things about their food. I'll have to try them one day.

Smokin' Po Boy BBQ in our town of Winder, GA. They have won numerous awards including best BBQ in the state (voted by Athens Herald). They have great BBQ and really great brisket.

Any suggestions for the Stockbridge/McDonough area of GA? We just moved here in December and the (*&$&#(& movers broke my husband's smoker.
I never get down there, it’s on the south side of town and might as well be Antarctica... welcome to Atlanta traffic. In all seriousness, we stop at exit 205 for gas and food on the way to Orlando, and it’s a solid hour, sometimes 1.5 hours!

I did a quick google and holy smokes bbq looks interesting. I do know there’s a fancy Chik Fil A “Truett’s Grill” down there, lol.

I understand! My sister and Brother in Law live in Cumming--we figure the best way to spend time together is to meet at the Zoo or the Aquarium.
