I also noticed that Cat wasn't in the lineup any more. (Neither, BTW, was Mario Batali.) I agree that this year a woman will win; they can't go too long without at least one female Iron Chef. If it hadn't been for the precedent of the competition, I think they simply would have named a new female Iron Chef. But now they do have to go through the motions.

I'm not surprised Samuelson left; he doesn't have the composure for an Iron Chef.

I've disliked Chiarello since he was on Top Chef Masters and chose his sous chefs based on whether they could pronounce his name. What conceit!

Sorry I haven't been around I got very very sick the weekend before Halloween and still have something sitting in my chest but its better then it was.

But Cat Cora left after her partner and she had their babies, Mario left a few years ago around the time they brought Garces on.

Also glad Samuelson left, he definitely did not have the composure for Iron Chef he couldn't take criticism.

Didn't see Top Chef Masters but sounds like Chiarello was just as stuck up there as he is here.

I think its going to be a woman too I said that to my mother at the start that they want a women Iron Chef. I think it will come down to Alex G. and Anne Burrell.

I rather Anne win it but could see Alex as the Iron Chef as well. Elizabeth though is a good chef but also a Pastry Chef so she has a chance but I don't see her going all the way.

I think that Zakarian needs to go he can't follow the rules, he can't make less then 500 dishes at a sitting and while he can cook he doesn't know how to follow the rules.

I felt bad for Alex when her food fell in the water but glad that didn't cost her anything in terms of being in the bottom 2.

I am surprised, I really thought Chef Samuelsson would be one of the final few. Of course he has been in the bottom before, and Chef Falkner hasn't so that could have been used against him too. Its really a tough competition, the Chef's that are left are all so talented. I'm just glad Chef Burrell is still there, I hope she wins it!

I think he thought he would be too from the look on his face when they told him he would not be going on!!!!

Now that my fave is gone (Chuck) I am rooting for any of the females - like them all.

i was surprised at who went home too. i have not figured out why they seem to worship the other chef. i mean, seriously. i thought the loser's final dish was MUCH more imaginative and innovative. but what do i know?

I am sad to see Anne go! I really do hope one of the ladies pulls this off. I am not a fan of any of the men left.

My thoughts exactly. I don't usually watch Iron Chief, but I might have watched it for Anne. If any of those three win, I won't be watching. I'll watch for Alex.

Yup. I could just see Zakarian or Chiarello saying, "I'm not letting anyone tell ME what secret ingredient to use. I'm such a fantastic chef, i'll cook what I want!"; and unless forced, only other pastry chefs choosing to go up against Falkner.

It's Alex's to lose - especially after last week, where she was criticized for soft potatoes and intentionally bringing inedible items to the table... yet she still wasn't in the bottom two.

Alex owes Anne a huge drink - if it weren't for Anne's "advantage" (not much of one anyway, IMO), Alex would have been in the showdown. I have a strong hunch that the winner will be Alex in the end, and once it's over I'll let people in on why. Other than the obvious "they need a female Iron Chef," of course.
