The Next Iron Chef Super Chefs 2011

I like Robert a lot, I really do. But I'm sorry, padding your resume isn't something everyone does. Robert lied.

And like all Food Network shows, I really feel the powers that be know who they want to win, and they do what ever they can to make that happen. That doesn't mean I won't watch, but I've given up rooting for someone.

No padding a resume isn't something a lot of people do but all people lie in some form. Doesn't matter the size of the lie. A Lie is a Lie. He lost his job, I'm sure before they did bring him back he took a lot of heat, and a lot of stern warnings before they gave him a job again. I'm just saying that is how I view it and why I won't be holding it against him until the end of eternity.

I am so sad that Robert will not be the next Iron Chef. He would have made a great Iron Chef.

I may be in the minority but I like Alex. She has a great sense of humor and doesn't seem to take herself too seriously.

I'm right there with you--I like her.

Can't stand Samuelson, Zakarian, or the guy who "beat" Robert last night. Not too fond of Chef Falkner, either.

I recorded it and watched it this morning.

I thought the guy in the bottom two (don't remember his name) who stayed should have been the one to go home. Not using his key candy ingredient in his savory dish was just wrong. Trying to "recreate it" instead? Just wrong.

I had to grin when they told Alex her ice cream was something that was learned early on in a chef's career, knocked her down a peg or two. :) I always hate it when she's so hard on the chefs on "Chopped" so that kind of gave her a little taste of her own medicine.

I was glad to see Anne win overall last night, I like her and since Robert is gone she's the one I'm rooting for to win.

Michael Chiarello is a pompous patoot and deserves to be kicked off. Soon. As soon as possible. And Zakarian can go with him.
.

I like Chef Zakarian but I cannot stand Michael Chiarello. I watched him on Master Chefs, I think it was and he gave one of the Top Chefs who was assigned to help him a really rough time when he mispronounced his name. I mean he was an a******!

Yes I know Michael is a successful restaurant owner so are many in the group doesn't mean he has to be a pompous jerk about things.

I knew about Robert's trouble with his resume right after it happened but I chose not to let it bother me. .

I love Chef Irvine! I figure that Foodnetwork was as much to blame in that fiasco as he was. That was not the first time they did not bother to check resumes and references. While he should not have embellished his resume I don't know of many companies, not even Dunkin Donuts or McDonald's that do not take the time to at least do a quick check.

Beau McMillan. Using the flavors from his movie theater treat instead of the actual candy is WHY he was in the bottom two. No matter how good or bad his actual dishes were, he deserved to be in the bottom two of the Chairman's Challenge for that reason alone. but nobody gets eliminated there.

In the cook-off, he beat Chuck Hughes. The judges liked his food better. He could have easily shot himself in the foot by making three dishes - one using each type of tofu. He didn't. He outcooked Chuck - and this time using the actual secret ingredients ;).

Exactly, and I think he proved in the cook-off that he deserves to stay there over Chuck, just based on his knowledge of the ingredient and creativity in using it. Chuck did deep fried tofu and a dipping sauce, heck I could have thought of that. It may have tasted good but I don't see that as Iron Chef worthy food. It reminded my of the contestant that made pancakes (or some other breakfast food) for the IC judges on The Next FN Star.

Just joining the fun. We are lovers of Iron Chef in our house.

Sad to see Marcu Samuelson go. :sad1:Was hoping Alex would be gone, but that doesn't look like too soon. Cheering for Michael Chiarello. :cheer2:

All in all, many great Chef's and love this show!

Funny how we all have such a difference of opinions...mine is the total opposite of yours. Don't care for Samuelson (although I like him on Chopped), so didn't mind him leaving. I like Alex and am glad she's still there. Can't wait for Chiarello to leave!

I am surprised, I really thought Chef Samuelsson would be one of the final few. Of course he has been in the bottom before, and Chef Falkner hasn't so that could have been used against him too. Its really a tough competition, the Chef's that are left are all so talented. I'm just glad Chef Burrell is still there, I hope she wins it!

I really like chef Michael Chiarello I don't him conceited at all. I also like the dark hair girl, not sure of her name.

I think it will be Alex G--only because she seems to be 'popping up' on all sorts of holiday promo's on food network, and also she was on the live thanksgiving special. They could have used so many of their other stars--Deen, Lee etc---but they used Alex G as one of the celeb chefs.

I also think it will be Alex G. And if not her, some other woman. They need another female Iron Chef!

Funny you should mention that. I watched both airings of Iron Chef America last night, and given that Mark Forgione was w one of the Iron Chefs, it was apparently a current episode.

Missing? Cat Cora :confused3

I think it's a pretty safe bet the Next Iron Chef will be a woman, and I'd venture to guess it will be either Anne or Alex. Alex has the severe 'look' needed, but Anne has Iron Chef kitchen experience; remember, she was Mario's sous chef when he was an Iron Chef.

Anne Burrell was also on the live Thanksgiving special.

I also noticed that Cat wasn't in the lineup any more. (Neither, BTW, was Mario Batali.) I agree that this year a woman will win; they can't go too long without at least one female Iron Chef. If it hadn't been for the precedent of the competition, I think they simply would have named a new female Iron Chef. But now they do have to go through the motions.

I'm not surprised Samuelson left; he doesn't have the composure for an Iron Chef.

I've disliked Chiarello since he was on Top Chef Masters and chose his sous chefs based on whether they could pronounce his name. What conceit!
