The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

Nope, nothing free. All I'm getting these days is bills!

I just got back from my 6 wk checkup. I can't believe she is 6 wks old already.

Katie hated sponge baths, but loves baths in the sink and tub. I'm looking forward to pool time with her, but probably not before next summer.

Yeah, I'm having a heart attack watching the bills pile in.

Checked the insurance website today and Lucas' claims all went through. They paid 100%, no deductible. Not sure why but I'm not fighting it , my bills are astronomical.

Just checking in....

You can definitely tell this thread has a bunch of ladies much more busy than our old thread.

Okay, I know I posted something on this thread the other day! And it seems to have disappeared :confused3

Dang now I don't even remember what it was! :rotfl:

Ella seems to like her baths, she only seems in shock when I first lay her in the tub...lol. She's almost 3 months already!!
As far as the pool, we're thinking Sage (DS 16 months) may be allergic to the chlorine in the pools. He has mild ezcema.. but we noticed when he got out of the pool in Florida his ezcema spread pretty bad.. We chalked it up to heat, ocean, something we ate...whatever. Well, last weekend, he went swimming at his cousins pool, and again, the ezcema spread pretty bad. Looks like we'll be putting him in his little turtle pool with hose water or stick with lakes and oceans...

LOL, absolutely!! But, it is much easier with the little little ones.. at least mine always loved their swing more than me...

Yep, they will be 14 months apart, almost exactly! How has it been for you? I keep thinking I am going to go crazy!

Mine are 13months and 1.5 weeks apart... Um, overall, it's not too rough. Big brother is very sweet and not too jealous. It did get a bit chaotic at WDW last month tho..lol, but totally worth having them close together :)

Be prepared to take turns feeding and changing, I imagine that part is similar to having twins

I don't know how you guys do it.

DH keeps trying to get frisky and I hit him with a frying pan last night. No, no, no! They say you are so much more fertile.
Soon I will have Mirena... I can mentally not take another baby right now.

We got a new car yesterday (Traded my car) and I'm a really nostalgic person and I miss my car. Got a pretty new Jeep sitting in the driveway but I'm all whiney over my Grand Am being gone.
I hate hormones!!!

It's crazy, but fun. Mine are 19m apart so it's a little different but luckily my first is playing on his own while I change and feed the second. I don't want to wait super long to think about a third, but I don't want 3 in diapers. :rotfl:

Congrats on the new car. We're starting to look for a real family vehicle too. My sedan isn't cutting it as far as space anymore. It will work for a while longer inside but I have no trunk space with the double stroller in there.

Ok...so CJ goes for his 2 month check up tomorrow (a little late...but I wanted to see pedi this time, as I've seen NP last 2).

Anyways, I'm going to ask about switching formulas. They put him on the premie one because he lost so much weight in the hospital, even when he was on feeding tube, he lost weight. Well....he's huge. When I weighed him on scale with me over a week ago, he was 16 lbs. Anyone use gentelease by enfamil? I want to try that one because it's suppose to help w/gas and he's really gassy! We tried him on zantac for his gas, but he threw up wehenever he had it. I just recently tried gripe water, but the dose is so high on that one, it's hard to get into him. Mylicon really doesn't work.

He is mr fuss bucket today! And of course I don't feel well and I have to take my 7 year old to dr's I think he has strep. No temp on baby...have to watch out for him catching it if my oldest has it!

And yes...we are all very busy momma's now! I go back to work Thursday, so I probably won't be around all that much for a while as I adjust us all to our new schedule. CJ starts daycare on 7/13 :headache: hopefully I'll be able to stay home again soon. I just need to get these bills gone!

Okay newest moms... I hope to be joining you in the next 10weeks or so.

I haev a question-- what are your opinions of the Diaper Genie (and all of its versions, II, Elite, etc)... and a wipe warmer?

I have always heard that these are useless items... however, DH has been told that these are must haves. Do the wipes not dry out with the wipe warmer-- and does the diaper genie really cut down on smell? Do you HAVE to use their bags?

Thanks!!

Oh my, IF (and that is a big IF) I have another kid that will be it. Max of 2! I'd probably do the whole tubes tied thing while she is in there, too... [pretty sure I wouldn't attempt a VBAC] I can't even imagine a third.

I love Lucas but maybe it's my age or maybe it's that I've only been married a little over a year and my entire life changed over such a short period of time, but I cannot get into this whole "mom" thing. I know it gets better but right now, I don't have the joy involved... Yet.

I'd definitely recommend a Compass. I love my Compass! But if you're thinking three, it would be way too small! Good luck on your search, luckily I knew what I wanted and DH was open to it since we traded my car. :goodvibes

Can't wait to see you over here! Someone was admiring my Johnson and Johnson toiletries shelf in the nursery today and I told them about how I got them [Thanks again!!]

I didn't get a Diaper Genie, I got a thick lime green trashcan from Ikea. It looks like the trashcan that the Sesame Street character lived in!! I use scented trashbags in it and haven't had any problems at all. I don't even have to empty it everyday... and he's formula fed which supposedly means stinkier diapers!

I didn't do a wipe warmer because I was afraid that if I ever used a cold wipe he'd freak out!
I don't warm his formula either, room temperature all the way.

Lucas doesn't get that extra stuff and he's perfectly happy. ;)

Stacy, do you give CJ cereal in his formula yet?

Lucas is never satisfied these last few days. My mom said she was giving me cereal in my formula (9lbs) by 4 weeks, which is Wednesday for Lucas...

I'm not going to do it before talking to the Dr.'s office but I just can't seem to satisfy him anymore. :(

I hope you get to stay home soon!
...I need to quit my job. Funny I planned on doing that today and my assistant manager just pulled into my driveway! ...She knows!! haha..

I love my diaper genie 2. I had a diaper champ w/my first, cuz I could never figure out the diaper genie 1, when I had babysat. I got rid of it...my sons were over 5 years apart. I got the 2 and I love it. Honestly, I pretty much just use it for BM's so I don't go thru the bags so much. It's 4.99 around here (at BJ's and on sale at target sometimes) for the cartridge. I don't have to replace it that often. Yes it does cut down on the smell..I never smell anything. Yes I've never seen generic bags for them, but I get a good amount of fills out of each cartridge. It is kinda gross to look at when you take it out, I wish it wasn't see thru blue.... :lmao:

Wipes warmer I never got because of reviews on them drying out wipes and possible fire hazard. This was when I was preggo with DS#1, who is almost 8, but still...it stuck with me.

I haven't put cereal into his bottle...but I have started him on cereal. I have such big babies the pedi usually starts me early and his 2 month appt is 2 weeks late. We tried last week and he did really well with it. Honestly probably the best of my 3 kids. Isn't helping w/his other issues though. I was hoping it would help keep him satisfied longer, as he's feeding every 2-2.5..sometimes 3 hours, but it didn't.

Last night though, he slept for 6 hours...that's a new record! I was lucky if I got 3 hours at night. Hubby says it was six hours, I'm not positive what time he fell asleep though, but even if it was 5, that's huge for him!

I was looking on enfamil website and there is something to print out to bring to pedi for sample of this particular formula, if I can get hubby to print for me I'll do it...but I know if I can't that they'll give to me anyways.

I just left pedis office w/my oldest. Thank goodness he doesn't have strep, but theres some viral throat thing going around. UGH...keep him away from the other kids!

I know what you mean. Didn't you hate people telling you what a huge change it was going to be? Well, duh! :rotfl: That is a lot of changes in a short amount of time. DH and I have been married for 5 years. We planned on waiting 5 years to start trying but I'm so happy we bumped up our plans. I can't imagine life without either of my boys now.

I never pictured having 2 under 2, but it's getting easier with DS2 falling into our routine. I think that has always helped me handle things better, a good solid routine. My Dsis used to fun me about my schedule because I always had one for DS. Eating times, naps, bedtimes, etc. And she understood how well it worked when she watched him while I was in the hospital. I was so thankful someone understood finally.

There will be lots of joy! Don't worry, you're not missing anything. I felt the same way for a while about what being a mom was supposed to be like. Once Lucas smiles a real smile on purpose at you, your heart will just about burst with happiness.

Lucas goes for his 1 month 7-7...I think I'll ask them because he is going backwards in how long he's sleeping but more formula isn't satisfying, he spits it back up. I'm staying at 4oz and giving him the additional 2oz if he seems like he's starving.

Sorry CJ is having gas issues. :( I just started Lucas on Mylicon before bed and it's stopped all of his fuss. I got pretty lucky.

Our pediatrician just has a sample table by the door when you leave. You can grab whichever you want. Hoping they've got Lucas' formula when I go next week... they've had it once and not had it the other. haha.

Let me know if they switch you, I've got 3 $5 Enfamil checks I can mail you, since Lucas is on Similac.

Definitely hated it. We planned to wait until we got our degrees....but I was supposed to start a new pack of BCPs, was an hour from home in a town with no pharmacy... and got Lucas. Oh well. We love him. :cloud9:
My mom said that is one of the reasons she is offering to babysit so much... So far we've been married 13 months, have a 1 month old baby, bought a house, remodeled the house, moved into the house and been through two deaths (my grandmother and DH's dad)... while working and going to college, too.
My mom was afraid we wouldn't be able to hold it all together, especially when I fell into that dark crevice of baby blues:laughing:

So far so good. I can't get Lucas on a schedule though. Maybe it's too early, I don't know? He'll go 5 hours without eating, then he'll go an hour and then he'll go 8. It doesn't make any sense but when I try to get him on a schedule (I tried every 4 hours) he wasn't finishing his bottles and then he was screaming in between, so I gave up. :confused3
