The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

Okay.. so I just got off the phone with my mom.. again.. :lmao: She said That she would pay a $1000. towards our trip. :cool1:Awesome!! We can use it towards airfare.. Right now it is pricing about $3000. for the flight.. Cant wait for that to drop. :lmao:

My goodness!

I can imagine wanting that to drop, good thing you've got awhile!

Your planning is making me all super excited. I might check the family boards out again tomorrow...

My pregnancy brain seems to be lifting, thank goodness. My whole teaching career, kids have gotten 10 wks of summer and teachers 9 wks. I got out of school 1.5 wks early to have Katie, so I was assuming 10.5 wks off with her. I never checked the calendar. I even posted here about going back a week later this year, and it didn't hit me until this morning! I looked at the calendar, and I still have 5.5 wks off! So Katie will be 11.5 wks old before she has to go to daycare. Duh!

Did anyone see the Today show segment with Baby Eliot this morning? He was born with Trisomy 18 and lived 99 days. His parents celebrated his birthday every day for 99 days, and released 99 baloons at his funeral. I was blubbering like an idiot during the whole segment! :sad1:

I need to figure out how to get my butt out of bed early enough to watch the Today Show.
I have zero motivation because for the foreseeable future this will be my life. So all of the boxes and housework can be done "tomorrow"...

Any suggestions? (I do get up to feed/change Lucas, I'm not that bad!)

Gotta love having an extra week with Katie!

:rotfl: I don't have to get up to watch it-I watch from bed! I do my best to get her to sleep late in the morning, but when it is clear she is awake (anywhere from 6 am until 10 am!) I turn on the tv and watch. This morning it was 6am.

I'll need to get her up and nurse at 5:30 when school starts, so I need to figure out a way to get her on a schedule! My dream is nurse at 9:30, then sleep until 5:30. Nice fantasy anyway!

That's exactly how I was when I stayed home w/my oldest. Now...I am busting my butt getting everything done. I go back to work the end of next week, so working 4 10 hour days then 3 kids, and all their appts. UGH...I'm in trouble!

Oh my, I saw that too. I heard about it a while ago in an email. I think it's still on YouTube. I was crying and the sound wasn't even on!

I try to take a shower before either of mine wake up. That way, I have to get going before the sound of the shower causes a stir somewhere. When I was first home with DS1 I wouldn't get going until the afternoon. I would sit downstairs and didn't really go anywhere because I was so afraid of him waking up and having no where to feed him. But after a while, it got really old. And since it was winter, there was nothing to do outside. The mall became my hideout. Pretzels for me and a nearby Von Maur (with the best mommy station!) meant I could feed DS. You are planning to be a SAHM, right? I couldn't remember if you said you were going back to the bank.

Guess I should have multi-quoted this... duh! Sorry to eat up a ton of space.

If I don't keep the job I have now, I won't be going back to work until I finish my degree which might be a few years.
I'm to the point that I need to begin student observations and teaching and while we can afford for me not to work... we can't afford for me not to work AND put Lucas in daycare. He won't be eligible for the college daycare for 2 years and if we have another baby.... then that puts us even further behind.
We're really torn right now. No idea what to do. I think DH'll finish his degree and then we'll figure out mine and I'll just hope they'll give me special permission to keep on going through the classes that don't require classroom time.

Sorry, I really do ramble. Haha.

I'm off to Rite Aid to further my frugal ways.. Huggies diapers are $9.99 and if you buy 5 they mail you a voucher for a 6th package free. I have 5 $3 off coupons, so that makes them $6.99... and I have a $5 off a $25 purchase at Rite Aid coupon SO... 6 packages of diapers for $30..
I'm addicted to being cheap. It's a problem.

Get out of bed EVERYDAY.. Take a shower.. wash, brush and get yourself ready for the day. Trust me.. I am queen of the SAHM funk. I got in so bad, I realized it had been like 2 weeks since I had done anything with myself. Its depressing. Even if you just throw the baby in the stroller and walk around the block, you HAVE to get going. Otherwise it will just sick you in.
Wow! How much do you think it will go down? I would cry! I just saw that you were from WA, so it makes more sense to me. I thought you must be from the W coast.

Hopefully it will drop by half. I was dinking around today, and it is $240 pp round trip.. That is a good price! Our number one reason for not doing WDW before was the price of plane tickets..

awesome deal! too bad we hated huggies- seems like she always wet or pooped through them. i have heard they are better for boys!

let me know if you come up with a good plan. i have to go back to work in 1.5 weeks and plan to nurse before i go to work (probably around 6ish). right now allison gets up anytime between 530-730ish depending what time she goes to bed.

They let me use the coupon twice since I had a thing of his formula, too! It's on sale there this week for $19.99.
So the lady had me checkout twice, the first time with 3 packages of Huggies and the second time with 2 packages and the formula and she used the coupon both times. Woohoo!

So far we've not had a problem with ANY diapers.... including the cheapies from Wal*Mart I got at my baby shower. The only time he's *leaked* in a diaper was when we tried a different formula and it was like a mini-explosion and my poor parents were afraid to change his diaper because they were afraid his umbilical cord would fall off and I was being all crazy emotional about not being with him when that happened.
(phew, what a run on sentence!)

Lucas had his first bath in the tub tonight! :lovestruc

OMG! He looks ssooo cute!! How'd he take the bath? He doesn't look too tramatized...is he a water baby?

He slept through it, actually. DH and I had a hard time getting his back because he was slippery and asleep. :lmao:

It makes me optimistic, though! Our local YMCA does "Shrimp" water classes at 6months for a parent and baby and I'm planning on doing those with him!!

He loves the bath robes, he snuggled in it for quite awhile.

Did anyone else get a baby book from their hospital?

I just got one in the mail enscribed with the name of his hospital and it's a "Baby Treasure Book from Birth to Year Seven" with a bunch of coupons for the local businesses that make the donations to pay for the book (my hospital was non-profit)...

All in all, DH and I get two free combo meals at Wendys, 3 Gallons of Milk, a bottle of baby shampoo, a large box of wipes and large bottle of baby powder.

Cool, but strange.

Nope, nothing free. All I'm getting these days is bills!

I just got back from my 6 wk checkup. I can't believe she is 6 wks old already.

Katie hated sponge baths, but loves baths in the sink and tub. I'm looking forward to pool time with her, but probably not before next summer.
