Samsma - I have to say the thought crossed my mind but I am so confused about points. I've gone to the DVC board a few times and I keep trying to understand the "renting system". I'll have to give it another try. Thanks.

Hey guys for those of you that were worried about staying at WL because of the negative thread that was up this week... check this out...
http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=698590 seems nothing went right on their trip. Just wanted to throw this thread up there so those that were hesitant about WL after reading about the "miserable stay" would see that the poster had nothing nice to say about anything...

O and sorry to my fellow WL lovers and Disers... I had to respond to this one and stick up for the CM's at WL...

Love you guys :grouphug:
...you know that you are just a WL vet at heart, like the rest o' us!

Hi guys!
I have around 40 days to go and I am getting nervous about my stay. I have two kids 3 and 5. They have been fighting like crazy lately, I have a courtyard, bunkbed room requested. Is there any chance of trying to upgrade at checkin to a deluxe room. Or do those go first? We will be there the first week of Feb. How much do you think a upgrade like that will cost us if available?
How much larger is the deluxe room that the standard sized room. Is the extra size worth the extra $? I might check with my TA if you guys think it is worth it.

Tara

Not sure of the rates but there's a good chance there may be availability during your stay if you want to upgrade at checkin. Of course, if you really want the deluxe, why not just get it now and rest assured knowing you have it?

For first week of Feb you are in value season still.

From what I can see, the difference between rack rates for courtyard ($255 a night) and a deluxe ($400 a night) is about $145 a night. Again, that is during value/off peak season.

Yes, our stay is in value season. We used the BDP code when booking with DU. Will I still be able to get the codes discounts because I am just upgrading my room? We are paying 169 per night for are courtyard view.
Majestic- Do you know how much bigger the deluxe rooms are and are they the bear face rooms? Would you pay more for one?
Thanks,
Tara

First off, most codes do not cover suites or deluxe rooms. You'll have to call in and ask. Your room rate is a good one though. :)

The deluxe rooms "ARE" bigger and have seperate bed and living areas. They are all at the "end" of the wings and face the lake so no bear face deluxe. Sorry.

As for me doing it? That's a tough one. My wife and I really like to have space. No doubt about it but for the additional cost, I would prefer to stay concierge and have all of the spoils it comes with.

I emailed the TA and we will se what happens. If it is too much money I might try to get a deluxe at check in time. Maybe it will be more reasonable. We will have to wait and see. Thanks for the info.

Just take note that there are only a limited number of Deluxe rooms. I think it's 2 or 4 per floor. I may be wrong though. I also think you have less chance of these rooms being available at checkin "and" if they are, getting a better rate or deal on them. Who knows though. This is Disney and anything can happen right? :)

We have a 5 and 6-1/2 yr old that have a love/hate relationship so I understand your concerns. We'll be there 2nd week of February. Our solution was to book 2 rooms - with the code it came out less than a deluxe room and seemed to give us more space and a better layout (but we also have a 1-1/2 yr old to consider). You don't get the other stuff that comes with a deluxe room but at least it gives the option of splitting up the kids if they're driving you crazy (unfortunately it splits up you and your husband too!). If you do this, don't forget to ask for the rooms to be adjoining.
Good luck!

Now that's a great idea! :)

Did you by any chance use the BDP code. I was just wondering how much a standard room with that code costs. Is it possible to add a room when the code has expired?

Just had to stop by my fave resort FAQ.

I'm missing the WL so badly right now! Especially with these below zero temps and snow. I know it is cold in FL too, but I just want to be there!

The best rate we could get was $140 (using the annual passholder rate but I don't think the BDP rate was much higher) for a courtyard view room. I just wanted standard but none were left. I still thought $280 for 2 adjoining rooms was better than a deluxe but I should say I've never stayed in a deluxe room. I'm sorry I don't know how it works if you have a room booked at the BDP rate and want to change it. I'm sure someone else does.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to pop in and say we're just back from our first stay at WL (Dec. 10-13) and we fell in love with the place! My dh is actually talking about buying into DVC now because he liked it so much. We're headed back in May for a longer stay, and we can't wait!
p.s. Fred, we rubbed Humphrey's nose in memory of FloridaCat....looks like lots of DISers have already been there, he needs to be repainted, lol!

We were in room 4032, woods view with bunkbeds. We could see the castle from our room! We could also see the CR, Space Mountain, the monorail and the otter pond. One night we watched "Wishes" from our balcony. It was a wonderful stay, and probably the only place we'll stay from now on. For anyone who is hesitating, DON'T! It's absolutely magical!

I just wanted to stop by and say THANKS!! to everyone on this board that helped us in planning our trip. We were at WL Nov 27th - Dec 4th. We had a bunk bed room. I had requested room 2024 or nearby, from a recommendation posted on this forum, not realizing that these were bunk bed rooms. We got room 2020 and WE LOVED that room. Woods View, right on top of the the otter pond. DS6 and DD4 loved having the bunk beds. Of course the first fight was over who was going to sleep on top. They readily agreed to switching every other night, but the big decision was who was going to sleep on top first. So finally I offered the solution that one person would get to sleep on top first, but the other person would get to sleep on top two nights in a row the next two nights, and thus sleep on top more times. DD4 immediately realized the advantage of this deal, and agreed to let her brother sleep on top first. DS6 was just happy to get his way and agreed too, but was a little miffed the next night when he really realized what he agreed to. :earseek: But it actually worked out to be a good schedule, and everyone was happy.

We could easily see Wishes each night they had it from our room, and it was spectacular!! :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:
I've never seen fireworks like that before! We could see the monorail go by, and every morning there were different ducks in the otter pond.

One morning we walked along the side of Bay lake from WL to FW, and a Bald Eagle flew right over our heads and landed in a tree on the old Discovery Island. I didn't expect to see a bald eagle hanging around there!

WL is fantastic - we'll probably stay there again on our next trip in three years (Jan 08). We liked Disney alot, but, no, we didn't "get it". I honestly can't imagine why people would go there exclusively, year after year. There's such a big world to see. But, we tend to be more drawn to natural wonders than man made ones. But Disney is certainly extremely well done, and a whole lot of fun.

Don't miss: Breakfast in the castle, and Chef Mickey's for dinner. I wish I could have eaten at those places every day, because most of the rest of Disney food had a lot to be desired. They need to take a lesson from Wendy's in how to do fast food right. Actually the best fast food place was Sunshine market in The Land in Epcot. Finally, I found a salad with something other than just greens!! Wow, a tomato, and a few carrots! Imagine that!!! pirate:

Hi guys!
I am looking for a MK view room without bunk beds... what room number(s) would I request? Also, tell me about lobby view rooms... My mom was wondering about one of these... Finally, if you had to choose between the two, which would you choose? Thanks!!

4067 is a queen lobby room behind the Fireplace...very quiet as the fireplace buffers the lobby noise..super close to the main elevators and it has a nice view of the creek.

I prefer the Lobby/Main Courtyard view. I am never in my room enough to get the benefits of seeing the castle at night. But I love to sit on the balcony and drink coffee and people watch

Although I've never stayed at WL, I think that this would be my perfect room (with a king bed, ;)), too. To be able to see the beautiful Main Courtyard AND the breathtaking lobby from my room. . . I just wish I could fork out the extra bucks to upgrade. But HEY, I'm going to WDW AND staying at the resort I've been dreaming about--- I'm very blessed! Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to everyone!

:wave2:

Ask at check in...I was booked in a standard and pointed to the rooms and asked if those were available. They said yes and I got the upgrade...NEVER hurts to ask.
(I like to whisper, kinda Secret like...If you don't make a big deal about it, I think you have a better chance than people who I have heard "demand" an upgrade.)

SHHHHH! Be vewy vewy quiet....I'm huntin' for wooms at wildowness wodge......

:cool1:  :teleport:
