Ask at check in...I was booked in a standard and pointed to the rooms and asked if those were available. They said yes and I got the upgrade...NEVER hurts to ask.
(I like to whisper, kinda Secret like...If you don't make a big deal about it, I think you have a better chance than people who I have heard "demand" an upgrade.)

I completely agree...I always ask at check-in if any upgrades are available...if they are...good deal, if not...c'est la vie...

My philosophy has always been..."if you don't ask, you don't get!"...

So far it's worked!

We just returned from WL concierge (room 7046) which is a Woods (read parking lot and smoke house) view. At first we were disappointed with the room assignment because we have always had a courtyard view.

The concierge staff was joking with us about the Magic Kingdom view that was "created" during last summer's huricans. Let me tell you it was a GREAT view. You could see the Castle and the Astro Orbitor with no problem. Wishes was great (especially the 360o fireworks during the Christmas Party)

If you have never stayed on that side of the building I would request it for the view before the trees grow back. One word of caution, there is a fair amount of truck noise but I would still take the room for the view

....definitely WARPED!!! ( I like that in a person.... :teeth: !)

And, Merry Christmas to you too, Erika!!

I can't believe I'll be there in less than 2 weeks - I've been so busy getting ready for Christmas - I haven't planned a thing for Disney! I'm leaving for Tampa right after Christmas and will have almost no internet access after that - so I need to at least come up with a which-park-which-day plan.

I can't decide if we'll use the late night extra hours - we've always been early morning people - but I like the idea for when my son is older.

I CAN'T WAIT! FOURTH visit to the WL!

(by the way - I don't talk much here - but I read you all the time)

We will be there from the 10th (arriving evening) to the 16th. Overlaping trips? Want to meet up to say hi?? Will PM you my cell # if interested. I don't leave home without it. :) ::yes::

Anyone else going down around the same time? I'm still hoping to hook up with Beckie and Jeanne and Marcel.

Fred

We're there from 1/2 - 1/8 - we miss each other by 2 days!

so close!

I never contacted Concierge (and they haven't emailed me - must be the crazy time of year for all of us) - I guess I'll talk to them when I get there. From now until I leave I am swamped with work and Christmas and Packing and then behaving myself at my MIL's house

Make sure you give the staff on the floor there fair warning that I am right behind you. :) Hahahah! They know me pretty well usually. If you see Mark (the manager) he DEFINATELY knows me. ::yes::

We are actually really excited about our return home. I have some unfinished business to take care of for Roy.

We are thinking about changing our ressie. 2 standard rooms adjoning rooms from one courtyard. There is a 555 dollar difference. I have posted before that my kids have been fighting like cats and dogs lately. It might be best to have more room. How noisy is the standard room areas? Are there any good standard rooms? We are going in value season so I think that we should be able to get connecting rooms but ya never know. Although it will ruin my vacation if I can't sleep next to my hubby. What should I do? Should I keep the courtyard and see if I can get a deluxe room at a reduced cost at check in? Or get two standard and take the risk of being seperated? I'm going crazy here. What are the best odds for my budget and happiness? Any advice will help.
Thanks,
Tara

Well Taratink - to be honest I wouldn't get 2 rooms because the wee ones don't get along. I'd try to deal with that issue instead. Trust me - it'll only get worse as they get older. Will you always vacation in a separate room from your husband?

Let the kids realize this is your vacation too and you set the guidelines for them. There would be some priviledges taken away if their behavior was less than bearable.

My son & daughter didn't always get along and as teens sometimes still don't but they were always good travelers and knew thier boundaries.

Getting 2 rooms will solve the separate spacial situation but I'd be more concerned why the serious fighting at such a young age. JMHO. :worried:
So, I'd stick with one bunk room.

Either way, I'm sure you can find a way to relax at WL. it is an awesome resort. :flower1:

We are definately working on the fighting issue BIG TIME! My son is having some problems right now so this is not an average situation of the kids being brats. I understand your advice and I appreciate it. :D I just need to make the right decisiion. This is not a life and death decsion. I just want to make this trip comfortable for all of us.
Tara

Personal advice aside, I would get both rooms reserved and then see if you can switch to a deluxe at checkin. You "may" be allowed to upgrade. Who knows.

Peace of mind is an important thing on vacation and you just can't have that without knowing full well what you are walking into. Don't let a situation get you off on the wrong foot.

Book the two rooms. That's my opinion and I'm stickin to it. ::yes:: :cool1:

Hi Tara - I think I originally suggested the 2 room scenario & I stick by it too. We've never done it before so I can't guarantee its the best way to go. But, since its value season & its an option - its my plan. I'm doing it because we also have a 1-1/2 yr old who will wake up the older kids if we're all in one room. So I figure I'll sleep in one room with the baby & my husband will be in the other with the boys (5 and 6-1/2). I don't know your particular situation but go with your gut. Obviously they will have to work out their differences sometime but why not do the best you can to have a peaceful disney vacation now. It doesn't mean you have to spend every vacation for the rest of your life in separate rooms!!! Just do what you need to do now. I'm not sure about the layout of the deluxe room but I thought there was a sitting area separated from the bedroom by french doors. If I'm right (and tell me if I'm wrong) then how would that help. You would still all be sleeping in one room and you wouldn't be able to have bunk beds.
I also wanted to tell you that when I booked by rooms last week there were only courtyard rooms available at AP rate. I'm not sure how you're booking your rooms. Hope this helps!

We have decided to try out one room and if it becomes unbearable we will try to get another room. Or I might try to get a deluxe room at checkin. One could fall asleep on the couch and the other could sleep with us. Last time we went to WDW the kids were so happy and behaved well. Maybe we will experience the same Disney magic this time. I'll fill you all in if we come back sane. LOL. My hubby wants to go with the flow. I'm a control freak so we will see how this plan works. Thankyou friends.

Fred - I just hope Mark doesn't talk about the crazy woman Lisa who kept repeating over and over "I'm so glad we're back - I'm so glad we're back" - if he does talk about her... uhm... it wasn't me

Sigh - and if he has any good suggestions about how I can make it up to dh who has a birthday tomorrow and it seems to have fallen out of my radar this year (except that he told me he was about to buy himself an iPod and I asked if I could wrap it up with DS5 so I wouldn't look bad in front of my son) - I've done nearly nothing for his birthday - except wrap the iPod which he was going to get for himself anyway. <thumping head on desk and whimpering .... what a year>

My thoughts are with you as you do whatever the thing is for Roy - I know several of you became close with him - he seemed like a nice guy.

I think my son is finally asleep - I'd better go wrap some presents... good nite!

Sorry, if this is already posted here- I did not have time to read the whole thread. I thought I already knew the answer to this question- Do the rooms have refrigerators. I just read another post somewhere else that said all deluxes have refrigerators except WL is this true? It does not make sense to me, I thought all deluxes and moderates had refrigerators installed this past fall? We are going in February and I was really counting on a refrigerator. Thanks Lynda
