I noticed on the first page there are some woodsview that are lobby rooms. Can someone explain this to me? :confused3 I'm wondering if I need to call and request north wing. Also, what would be your other view if in south wing?
Ash&abby'smom

WOODS VIEW: These rooms are located above the front desk on floors 5 & 6. North side woods view rooms are on floors 1-6 and face the "otter pond"(a handful face MK). Floors 4,5 & 6 above Whispering Canyon are Woods View Lobby rooms.

The few rooms off the Lobby above the Whispering Canyon Cafe are considered Woods View due to the landscaping that has been done outside the windows of the Cafe. The view of these rooms overlook the same view you would have while eating at WCC .(ieThe service road is somewhat hidden from the view)

I just stayed at the WL last month..I'm going to try and book WLV for November. Does it still feel like the WL? I wonder if the DVC sections of the resort have the same feel as that actual resort

Unfortunately but also fortunately, due to the Hurricanes and loss of many trees over the last few years more NorthWing Wood View rooms now have a better view of both the Castle and portions of the Lake (ie the waterway between the Lodge and the CR)

Thanks Magic! I am torn on whether to get a woodsview or courtyard view. It will probably be the only chance we get to go to WDW/WL and love the courtyard views of the water, but also like the view of the castle. This might make it easier in my choice! :thumbsup2

OH my, ::yes:: Yes the Villas @ Wilderness Lodge has all the ambience of the Lodge only up a notch or two. Everything is upgraded and the common areas are absolutley beautiful. While staying at the Villas you are still using all the same areas that you would if staying in the main lodge. You will just have better larger room accommodations.

Thanks Beckie! I think I will call and request north wing in hopes of getting a room in the same area as we had before.

Do you think the first week of Oct. is busy?

Does anyone have pictures of WL at Christmas time? Could you please post them?

I'll dig up some of my WL Christmas pics which I took a couple of years ago...I also have a HUGE collection of Christmas pics from all the resorts from various places on the Internet, but I can't post them because I don't know where I got most of them!

Beckie- I realize that "my" room diagram doesn't apply to the whole resort, but do you know exactly where the locations and numbering get different? I'm pretty sure that the South Wing, far section is correct for floors 1 (where we stayed in 2004), 2 and 3 as well as 4 through 6.

It isn't that your room #'s are wrong it's just that some of our readers don't understand about the way the design of the Lodge is. On your map you show Standard Rooms (Floors 2 and up) Room # 066-042 there are no rooms on the second or third floor in this area. Artist Point is located there, same as the Courtyard View (Floors 2 and up) Room #061-043 Artist Point goes up to the third floor level looking out into the Courtyard. The 2nd, 3rd floor on Northwing don't have any rooms until you reach rooms # 034-000. The 7th floor is completely different because of the Suites and the fact the 7th floor doesn't extend down to the end of either wing.

There are only 25 "Deluxe Rooms" (Junior Suites) They are 1000, 1003, 1166, 1169, 2000, 2003, 2123, 2166, 2169, 3000, 3003, 3123, 3166, 3169, 4000, 4003, 4123, 4166, 4169, 5000, 5003, 5123, 5166, 5169 and 6123.

It's not that your map is wrong, it's just that so many of the floors are different.

Thanks, Beckie...apart from the fact that the Lodge is amazingly beautiful, I don't know of any other WDW resort where the configuration and room patterns are so interesting (well..maybe AKL, but I don't know that one at all)!

Another room question for you. Is WL unusual in having such a small number of "Standard" rooms relative to other types? I can't really figure the exact numbers, but it seems as if Standard rooms are outnumbered by Woods and Courtyard rooms by quite a bit. I know we were upgraded from Standard all the way to Courtyard...do you know if that happens more at WL than at other WDW resorts? If it does, is it because there are relatively few Standard rooms?

Thanks in advance...all this room discussion is getting me worked up to a fever pitch

Ronald

Out of the 728 rooms at Wilderness Lodge less then 50 are standard view rooms. I believe Animal Kingdom Lodge has over 130 standard view rooms.

So Disney probably over sells the standard view rooms @ Wilderness Lodge to get the rooms booked at the resort, then upgrades the guest that made their reservation the earliest. Since most guest at Wilderness Lodge are repeat customers, maybe they feel that after you have stayed in one of the Courtyard View rooms next time you may book the more expensive view. I'm just guessing... :confused3 It worked with me after being upgrading to concierge.

Good morning! We just returned from our first of many returns to WL, I hope.

What a stunning resort! We had a courtyard view that looked on to the villas.
I don't believe we had a refurb. room. It was very clean no signs of wear anywhere that I could see. Roaring forks can be a busy place in the morning. Food there was very good. And yes there is chili. Very good chili at that. Sorry no pictures I'm still in the dark age my camera still takes film. From what I learned from deputy Diane at the whispering canyon they haven't started the rehabing of the rooms :confused3 I don't know how true this is. Let me know if you have any questions I'll try to remember as best I can. :thumbsup2

...ahhh, Beckster, you always WERE a sucker for a deal.... :teeth: ! (Hey, I'da done the same.... :confused3 )

DH and I are booked for a standard room for Columbus Day weekend. When I called the CM at CRO said pretty much everything was available this far out, but it does book up. I hope the theory about upgrades is correct in that people who book first get the upgrades, but I will be happy no matter where our room is!!!

We just changed our booking from POFQ to WL. Our first time at this resort. We visited 2 years ago for a good lunch and drooled over the whole place...
It's funny we booked POFQ last week, I had checked WL but there was such a big price difference and no standard rooms available. We have stayed at PO 4 times and really love it. Last night I was checking the disney site and thought I will just check the prices again and see what is available and found standard rooms available. So we Booked!!! Thanks to our Dreams TA Cathy who did this on a Sunday for us!
So excited....I am not telling the family, they won't know were staying there till we get off the bus. Now I have to keep that secret for 5 months!
Sept 30-Oct 6.

We changed our POFQ reservatsions to WL, too! We're going to be there 9/24 - 10/1!!! It'll be our first time, and I figured with all the money I'm saving on the FREE dining plan, I'd go ahead and try a Deluxe resort. Hope we like it!

Bev,
We will be there the same exact dates as you. We have a woodsview booked. We will be with another family. We are also celebrating dd's 6th birthday while we are there. So excited.

OK all your September-October Wilderness Lodgers.

You guys need to agree to a time and all meet-up for a mini-WL DIS-Meet. Just pick an day that is good for everyone then meet in the Lobby near Humphrie Bear, take some photo's talk the talk and enjoy.

The meeting doesn't have to be long you could even meet at the pool. We have manage to do this several times and now have friends for life, just enjoy your stay and have fun.

Beckie

Wait....what was I thinking

There are a few of us Wilderness Lodge Vet's that are already planning a meet for the first of October Majestic, Dizneykid myself and possibly a few others. We will post here when the dates are a little closer.
