@pb-n-j...wow...I'm really disappointed to hear about the Roaring Forks seating area. I was hoping they figured out a way to get some more seating in the place. I'm not as upset about the food offerings as some others might be. We only seem to eat breakfast everyday at Roaring Forks other than grabbing a quick snack or something to drink.

What are their breakfast selections like?

Is WL the only Deluxe without a full "food court" like the values/moderates have?

No, WL is not the only deluxe without the full food court. AKL has a slightly bigger fast food counter service called the Mara but I wouldn't compare it to a mod or value food court. The BWI only has a little lounge called the Belleview Lounge that offers a few items a la carte in the early a.m, then serves drinks in the evening. The GF has no food court, the Poly has none except Captain Cooks, a small counter service off the lobby.

Only the mods and the values have the bigger food courts I think.

I don't believe WL, Contemporary, Polynesian or GF have a food court, only a CS venue similar to Roaring Forks.

We only use it for snacks and tea, too.

FYI, mugs are meant for one trip only. The policy is stated as follows:

Most of the WDW Resorts have a "Refillable Mug" program in their food court area (aka Fast Food-Counter Service). You purchase a mug for around $11.99 and are entitled to "free" or less expensive refills for the duration of your stay. The refills are available from the beverage dispensers and usually include: coffee, sodas, ice tea, and hot chocolate. No other purchase is required to get your mug or your refills.
The mugs have the hotel logo on them and signs state that they are for use at that hotel for the duration of your visit.

For an avid coffee or soda drinker, especially with the 'free' refills,
you can't beat it.

Does anyone know where you can get a current menu listing for Roaring Forks? I know about all ears but there's is the old menu. Thanks.

I viewed a program on the Travel Channel today about WL. It made me want to go there now!!!!!!!!!! :moped:

I watched it too--I am so ready to go. But now I am really considering the Deluxe room. I think I'd rather do that than concierge. But...the Bunk Bed rooms look great too and I hope we don't lie around in the room too much anyway! It's just the thought of 10 days away from home and feeling cramped by the time we're done. I keep looking at the villas, MagicInMyHeart, but they just aren't "in the action" enough for me.

BTW...PP-- are you by any chance someone who likes to Sew? Because the first time I looked at your user name, I read it differently. :thumbsup2

I know they state the mugs are for "one visit" but I've had ours on the trays with our food right out there for them to see, carried them through the lobby, up to the front desk, out by the pool, everywhere, and the only comments I've ever had from CM's are "wow, you've had those for awhile haven't you". I guess if I wasn't supposed to use them they would have said something after 14 stays.

We only had breakfast there once during our stay but from what I remember thye had large muffins of different kinds, doughnuts, large danish, etc. The hot items were ham/egg/cheese croissants, scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, hash browns. Sorry thats all I can remember right now.

Oh, they still have the cold cereal options on the rack in the middle of the room too.

Just came back and yes that was breakfast. For lunch and dinner served from 11 to 11 they had plain and pepperoni pizza, cheeseburger, double cheesburger with bacon, chicken strips, two types of salads and wraps at the other counter. Not a big selection but something none the less. CBR or POR both had much nicer food courts but you really don't stay there for the food court now do we? :smooth:

I know I don't stop by much but thought I'd let you all know what's going on at WL.

We just got home from WL on Saturday after our 14th stay there since it opened in 94'. All I can say is that more changes are in pogress. Last Monday the 24th, the 6th floor of the North wing was closed off for remodeling. We could see them taking roll after roll of carpeting out for days. All of the curtains were taken down and they were starting to move furniture by the end of the week. They said this will be down most of May.

Roaring Forks. I don't know if we are the only ones to say this but, they should have left it alone. The hot food items are still ordered in the same spot as before. There is a glass front case that has dishes of Cheeseburgers, Fries, Chicken Strips and Bacon (yes bacon). The thing is, if you happen to arrive for a burger or something and one or two are in the dish, you get one of those, not a fresh cooked one. And yes, the bacon could have ben there since breakfast. The beverage cooler is still the same, they still have fruit cups, veggie cups, PBJ. The big cookies and brownies are stil there, just not the variety there used to be. The new sandwich counter is where the ice cream cooler and checkout, used to be. If you like bread you'll enjoy this counter. You get about 1 1/2" of bread on top and bottom and aout 1/4" of stuff inbetween, but you can add to it with other items if you'd like. But the sandwiches are off the wall and DW almost got sick off one. Won't do that again. They now have soft serve ice cream and yogurt that you can get yourself. Mug drinks are still free, and just so you know we still use the ones we bought back in 94' each time we go with no troubles. The seating area is the same. All they did was put in a smaller fixins' bar and turned some of tables. They also put a couple two person table that were along the windows, outside in the hallway. Like I said, to us it was better the way it was. The do however still have chili. They do not have hot dogs, nachos, philly cheese steak, just to mention a few favorites gone from the menu. The previous posted photo's show it all very well.

After saying this we did have great time again. Did flag family on the 25th, that was fun. We stayed in 5034 for 8 days and enjoyed it all.

I hope your next WL visit is a Magical one!

Thanks for your post.

I also think they should of left the nachos on the menu as well as hot dogs. I am very surprised they took off hot dogs.

Not looking to argue on this really wonderful thread! :goodvibes

I believe the refill mug policy is an honor system kind of thing.

yep...please try to keep the "GREAT MUG DEBATE" off this thread. There have been numerous threads started about this topic in the past. I'm sure you can find one if you do a search and you can debate about it there.

Goodmorning WL fans. I just had to share this with others that could understand. I am now 39, YES 39 DAYS away from our 8 night stay at the LODGE!!!! I was dreaming this morning, what a great dream. I was standing at the counter getting my room assignment, then my DH, kids and I were running down the halls to see the room (would it have bunk beds, would it have the view we wanted, would we get super lucky and have it be a newly re-furbed room?). I won't know because right as we were opening the door my alarm went off. Bummer, but what a GREAT way to start the day. Come on 39 DAYS!!!!

Me either.

Sorry if it was taken the wrong way.

Hi, all. I last read and posted on this outstanding thread almost 2 years ago just before DW and I had a superb first stay at WL but were chased home early by Hurricane Charlie. In late June, we're going to get a tiny bit of a WL fix (2 nights) at the tail end of a trip that was originally going to be all Pop Century. So, I have a lot of catching up to do...I should get a month's worth of fun and info out of reviewing all the posts since the last one I read (in Part 4, I think).

Anyway, I'll avoid asking questions that I can easily find the answers to by catching up on this thread, but I can't resist two for starters.

1) Where has Majestic gone and what happened to his WL room database? In summer 2004, I sent him a neat map that showed all the WL room numbers that he thought he might be able to use...is it posted somewhere?

2) Back in August 2004, Roaring Fork had two coffee machines...the :guilty: Nescafe one AND a brewed 100% Colombian one :bitelip: . Was that just a temporary experiment or can you still get 100% Colombian at Roaring Fork (please, please, please)?

Thanks, WL fans.

It has been awhile sence you stopped by, I still have your WL Room Numbers Chart and post the link for others when a guest needs to learn the lay-out of the Lodge.

Fred/Majestic has been really busy, he is putting together his large Northeast DIS Meet that is coming up in a few weeks. But stops by when he has a few minutes, most of us old-timers still drop by several times a day but we have so many informed members now they come and go until their next trip to the Lodge.

I'll be visiting the Lodge in a few weeks so I not sure about the Coffee in the new and improved Roaring Fork. I'll try and check out everything new during my visit and report back. I do know everyroom now has a small 4-cup coffee machine so your coffee maybe the best solution.

Glad to have you back

Hey Beckie- I remember you! How nice to find somebody I know so quickly :teeth: And I'm glad to hear my room layout diagram is occasionally being used...would you believe I forgot about it myself until I happened to stumble upon a very old link in my "Favorites" files :sad2:

Looking forward to reading about the "new and improved" Roaring Fork...and even more to hearing about your upcoming trip.

I love the anticipation/planning/reacquainting part of a Disney trip nearly as much as the trip itself. I doubt if I'm alone in that regard.
