The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

O.K, I am SOOOO excited, we just booked WL for 6 nights in June this morning. I have never stayed there so I have a few questions (been trying to read through this thread so it may have been asked before and I apologize).

We have a woodsview room, what is the difference between this and standard view? Do we have a balcony??
Does the food court have apple juice available for the refillable mugs, we stayed at POP and they do so I'm curious, it would save us a lot of money.
We can't wait to go! I am so excited about staying in this beautiful resort.
Also, can anyone tell me about the kiddie pools? We have a 4 year old and 20 month old.
Thanks,
Lesley

One more question (sorry) I just saw on a tripadvisor review that the room didn't have a refrigerator? I thought fridge's and coffee makers were standard here,is this the case? Do they need to be requested?

Thanks,
Lesley

I have a std. view room booked for June (can't wait!!!) and I was a little disappointed to read on page one of this thread that there are 2 queen beds, it doesn't mention bunk beds, which my boys would love. But today I got my confirmation in the post and the leaflet about WL says
"Standard View - 2 queens, queen-bunk, king"

So I'm confused! Could anyone clarify if there are bunk beds in the std. view rooms? Thanks.

Im getting what I wanted!
Switched 5nights at Pop to 6nights at VWL! followed by 2nights in the Lodge and then 6nights at BCV
Im going home, Im going home, Im going home :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Going to WL in August and staying in a concierge room. I have read that they were doing construction on the floor. Does anyone know what exactly will be done? Or the new lobby layout?? Thank you very much for starting this thread I have read a lot of the posts and really love it.

From what I've been told, construction on the new concierge lounge "area" hasn't started yet. Originally, it was scheduled to start in January. When I was on the phone last week with WL, they said the start date has been moved yet again and construction will not be done before June.

:confused3

They will shut down 1 or 2 of the honeymoon rooms during construction. They said nothing else would be shut down.

I hope this helps. We have a trip scheduled in May and I hope there is not a lot of construction going on.

I've read that the WL frequently gives out free upgrades, when available, so will they give out free downgrades? I don't even know if this is possible, so bear with me.

I've got a studio booked at the WLV. I'd really rather be in the main lodge. (All they have available in the lodge right now is the honeymoon suite.) If they have a room available in the lodge, do you think they'd give it to me instead? This may sound a bit crazy, given the price differences, but I booked the room with a discount code, so I'm only paying $209 for the Studio. Frankly, I can't figure out why the rack rate on this studio is $324, compared to the rack rate of a standard room of $239. That extra $85 gets you what, a microwave? Big deal. The room is almost the same size.

Anyway, is this even possible? I thought the WL and the WLV were considered different resprts, but since you check in at the same place, maybe they're not?

OMG! Id be so quick to snatch up that VWL studio!
just asked this morn about a discount on a studio room and they arent out yet
so we're starting w/6nights at VWL then switching to 2nights at the Lodge - dont want to spend those pts for Fri & Sat nights so I asked about a discount
Im hoping as we get closer I can change the lodge to a studio and not have to change rooms!

Why? What am I missing? The difference in the room appears to be 10 or 15 square feet. I can see how the microwave would be helpful if you wanted to cook in your room, but it won't save you much money considering the room is $85 per night more. From what I can tell, the vanity only have one sink as opposed to the two sinks at the WL. How do the Balconies (and views) compare.

Please tell me why you'd prefer the studio.

Wow, I would never give up a studio @ the Villas for a standard room at the Lodge even though I love staying at the Lodge.

You must have a reason for your request so you may always ask at check-in. You never know they may change your room. :confused3 You may need to just keep checking back with CRO some reservations for the AP rate may open up over at the Lodge.

The studio is larger then the standard rooms at the lodge and newer. I feel the decore at the Villas is nicer. The Lodge and the Villas share check-in as does BoardWalk Villas/BoardWalk Inn, Beach Club Villas/Beach Club Resort this is just economics. Just having the mini-kitchen has saved me money on breakfast and lunch. Plus you will have access to free washer/dryer

while staying at the Villas.

Hope you are able to receive your request.

Hello, I hate to type this because it's going to sound flippant, the difference between a Woods View and a Standard View is for the most part "the view"

Sorry I just had to do that...Both room types come with a balcony or patio if room is located on ground floor. With the Woods View you may request a smoking optional room, connecting rooms, a king size bed. Most rooms at Wilderness Lodge that have the King beds double as the barrier-free (handicap-accessible) rooms and have a large shower with no tub.

STANDARD ROOMS: All Non-Smoking rooms with 2 Queen Beds.
Located on Floors 4,5 & 6. On the North(MK) side, they face the service area. There are also 4th floor rooms that overlook the lobby and look out to roof peaks. Lobby rooms do have balconies.

WOODS VIEW: These rooms are located above the front desk on floors 5 & 6. North side woods view rooms are on floors 1-6 and face the "otter pond"(a handful face MK). Floors 4,5 & 6 above Whispering Canyon are Woods View Lobby rooms.

Pools:
All pools are outdoor and heated
One Main feature pool with a slide (Silver Creek Springs Pool)
Silver Creek Pool Hours Lifeguard/Slide
9:00a.m.-10:00p.m.
(you may swim earlier or until 12:00am No Lifeguard on duty and slide is closed if there is no lifeguard)
One quiet pool located at Villas, Hidden Springs Pool (No lifeguard on duty)
Kiddie pool is located next to Silver Creek Springs Pool
Three Jacuzzis (Two next to Silver Creek Springs Pool one at Villas next to Hidden Springs Pool)
For your safety and enjoyment, diaper-age children are required to wear swim piapers or rubber pants when using and pool at the WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort. Swim diapers are available at the Mercantile for your conveience.

You may also get life vest for both of the children at no charge from Teton Boat & Bike Rental they are very nice, you show your room key then keep them until you check-out. Your four year old will be able to go down the slide with the vest as could your youngest.

Opps...
One more question (sorry) I just saw on a tripadvisor review that the room didn't have a refrigerator? I thought fridge's and coffee makers were standard here,is this the case? Do they need to be requested?

All rooms have the new coffe makers that has regular/decaff coffee supplied My last stay was a few weeks ago my room didn't have a fridge. (last time I asked the status and was notified they had been ordered just not all had been delivered) So if your room doesn't have one just call and request one.

The offical listing is that standard rooms come with 2-queen beds, When I spoke with Guest Services about the fact that they say the standard room has 2-queen beds but a guest may request bunk-beds she said, "There are a limited amount of rooms with Bunk-Beds. Please have your request listed on your reservation, we will try to accommodate all request. But a request is just that, a request and we can't guarantee request." Notice how she really didn't say, Standard Rooms do or do not have Bunk beds.

So for eveyone that wants Bunk-beds request them on your reservation, then remind the CM at check-in. :confused3

Frostyc

The Concierge level is located on the 7th floor, hopefully you will have a new lounge area to enjoy with addition space and TV.

Just request a fridge on your reservation or wait until you are in the room, if no fridge just call and request one at no charge.

MagicInMyHeart,

Just stumbled on this email from our dear old friend Roy....wanted to share it with everyone. It's simple and to the point. I'm sure we can all relate to it.

He is Fred,
Roy will always be at the Lodge when I envision him, at the pool with a cool one. I was just reading some E-mail from him last week.

Just wanted to say how great this thread was. We just returned from a week at WL and it was the best. We had a fourth floor courtyard view and it was great. I cannot say anything bad about WL. Thanks for all the info. My daughter had to rub the nose evryday.
