The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

First of all, thank you for this incredible thread. We just changed our ressie from POP century to WL for our trip in June and I couldn't be more excited.
I guess I have two questions that remain that if could be answered it would be wonderful.
First- transportation is a little confusing to me after reading this. I read we share buses with Poly and Cont. is this true? If so, how does that work? Will we have to stop at both resorts every day on the way to and from each park? If so, doesn't that take quite a long time to get to and from the parks? I sure hope that isn't the case. Any explanation of this would be great. Also, if we do, can you take a bus straight from WL to the Poly? I am asking because we are having dinner at OHana's one evening.
Second- we requested bunk beds, are those guaranteed or will we just have to wait and see upon check in?
Thanks so much! We just can't wait.
Oh yeah, one final questions. . .the kiddie pool, the picture didn't show jets, but I read it has them. . .does it have jets that shoot up (my kids just LOVE those)
Thanks,
Lesley

Hi Lesley,
WL transportation is very easy! All deluxe resorts, with the exception of AKL share their buses. WL is always the 1st pickup. In the am, you'll generally stop at GF, then off to your park. In the pm, you'll make a quick stop at FW (I think WL is the 1st off). We always had seats and never found the buses crowded.

To get to MK, there are 2 boats. The GREEN launch goes WL/FW/MK, and you can just roll your stroller on. I believe it starts abt 1/2 hr before the MK opens and runs abt 1 hr after the park closes. Dbl check with a boat driver, not a CM. The BLUE launch goes CR/FW/WL and runs 6:45am - 10pm every day. You must fold your stroller. There are generally 2 of these boats running, 1 clockwise, 1 counterclockwise. The entire "loop" takes a little less than 20 minutes. It's SO EASY to hop over to the CR or FW to eat. If you have an early PS at MK, just take the BLUE to CR, then walk or monorail to MK.

To get to the Poly for dinner, just take the BLUE launch to CR, then monorail to the Poly. I would leave abt 1/2 hr before your PS. I don't think it would take that long, but it's always better to be safe.

There is a brand new bus route that goes FW/WL/MK. Tyler has a thread explaining it over on the transportation brd. (He's a WDW bus driver and SO helpful.)

No, the kiddie pool does not have any jets. It's a nice little pool and close to the main pool and bar. ;) Just don't sit on the guyser side at the top of the hours. :earboy2:

The quite pool between WL and the villa has jet in the pool. It's fun to swim over them.

I am new to these boards and have read them for 2 hours. How wonderful that this even exist.I have a question. Is there anything out there that shows a map with actual room numbers for the wl like they have for the akl.I was interested in knowing about the rooms toward the end of the south inner courtyard. Thanks for all the great and valuable info on this fact sheet.I have stayed at the wl twice before and I am excited about going back in April after reading these boards.Thank you

Welcome to the WL thread Robin! The only map with actual room numbers is the one they give you when you check in!...and actually, I am not so sure they have the numbers!

Thanks for responding so quickly. It was worth a shot. I just can't believe how much info are on these boards and how helpful everyone is.Thanks

We will be at WL May 7-14(myself,DH,2 DD's) we have a woodsview. My requests were close to food and bunkbeds. Does anyone know what those rooms are like. We are an active family and like being in the center of things. Anything different that I should be bringing that you wished you had while staying there?

Has anyone received an upgrade to a courtyard view from a woods view room? Which is better? Thanks.

nickandalexmom
Yes we have received an upgrade several times, of the two views I love the Inner Courtyard View the best. But watching the Castle change color during the night and a view of WISHES is hard to turn-down. :confused3

Does anyone know if the WL has wireless internet? We are going soon and my dad was asking!
Thanks

Thank you soooooooooooooooo much.I have been looking for this for days.I was trying to remember the room I stayed in on my last visit to WL and this link was the perfect answer to my question. Thanks again :cool1:

:goodvibes I love reading this site/link.... thanks keep the smiles coming :goodvibes

Kinda of new/been lurking for awhile/i have learned so much
thanks.
quick question
We are going in July/1st time at Wilderness Lodge. :cool1:
How should we get to the campground from the lodge.
We want to do the trails end buffet for breakfast.
Anyone do this/the price looks good.

to get to the campground you can either walk (there is a nature trail) or take the boat- if you are going for breakfast you'll want to check and see how early the boat starts running but more than likely it will be early enough.

There is also the bus, between Wilderness Lodge and Ft. Wilderness Campground.

fan4life, we ate breakfast at Trail's End during our stay at Fort Wilderness and really enjoyed it. It was a plentiful buffet for a great price. The kids especially liked the Mickey Waffles ::MickeyMo . Enjoy!

Jessica

Which would you recommend for breakfast? It will be on a "rest" day so we're not trying to rush out to the parks.

I had booked Whispering Canyon in the Lodge...but honestly I'm not sure I'm ready for all the hooplah! Don't get me wrong, we love the *spirit* at Chef Mickey's...but somehow, at least on the planning CD, WC just seems a bit over the top. Just tooooo loud. PLUS.....the bottomless skillet they offer doesn't include any fruit.

Looking into the Trails-end buffet it sounds very nice. We can have some fresh fruit and Mickey waffles (I don't believe the waffles at WC are Mickey shaped are they??) along w/ all the eggs, bacon, hash browns, etc. AND a leisurely walk back to WL to walk-off our fare!

Sounds like I've made my dec'n :goodvibes ...but I'd really like to hear from you folks. Did you enjoy WC for b'fast? We have children age 2.5 and 5.5. Will I be making a big mistake not to do a meal here for them? We usually eat a quick bite in our room before park touring so I only have the 1 morning available to do this type of b'fast. Oh, do I need a PS for Trails end???

Thanks!

Since it would be a day when you did'nt have to rush out I would do the Trails End Buffet. That is a nice morning(and the walk back sounds great)
Although the WCC is a lot of fun, I have to agree with you that I think its a bit much for the morning( I'm not sure if I want to hoot and hollah before I've had my java :cool1: ) However your kids would probably get a kick out of it one night for dinner.Have a great trip.
