The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

Last summer we had a standard room reserved with a bunk bed request. When we arrived, there weren't any bunk bed rooms available, and rather than waiting for it we just took a double queen room. They felt bad, since they were unable to honor our bunk bed request and gave us a room that we could see wishes from! :wizard:
My DDs loved that much more than bunk beds anyways!

Hi, all. What a wonderful thread. Of course, it took many hours to get through it! There is a lot of information, and it's very helpful to me.

Does anyone know about how big the rooms are (square feet)? I'm not concerned about the size, I'm just wondering how much I should pack for my son (who'll be two) - stroller, toys, etc.

Thanks!

Please help! We are trying to decide what level room (Woods vs Courtyard) and what *View* would be best for us. We will be getting 2 rooms since there are 5 of us.

I have triplets (2 have special needs) and they do not sleep very well. Noise will be a big factor in requesting a room. I do not want to be awakened by trucks and will forgo any view over noise.

So... we are trying to decide between a Woods View (hopefully MK/Wishes View) and a Inner Courtyard Lobby View. What are the advantages of each? Do you still get an "outside" balcony with a lobby view or just the lobby view? Is it really noisy? Which floor is the best? We are huge Christmas fanatics, and I thought being able to see the lobby and hear the Christmas events would be really fun. Are there ANY rooms that do both views? But, seeing Wishes at night would be so cool for my kids (and me!).

As far as specifics, what do I request for each type when I talke to CRO? I read that Woods View 5th floor North Wing overlooking the Otter Pond was best for the MK view. Is that correct? How do I specifically request the Inner Courtyard/Lobby View? Is there a floor/location that is better?

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for all the help! We are so excited about our Christmas trip!

We are booked into the WL Villas for 7 nights from Nov 4th through the 11th. Since we are "regular" guests do we get Mousekeeping every day? Anyone ever stay there as a guest and not as a DVC member? What did you think. We are in a studio as that was what was available and affordable.

TIA

If you booked the Villa through CRO and not a DVC member you will receive daily mousekeeping. If you are renting points from a member you will only receive mousekeeping after three days.

We are renting through Disney! That is what I thought but I was not 100% sure.

Thanks so much.

Another quick question, how far of a walk from the main hotel lobby are the villas? What about for the transportation (boat and buses).

changed over our 5 Pop nights to VWL this morn
so this Aug we're at the WL for Sat night, switching to the villas Su-Sat then back to the Lodge Sat
then onto Beach Club Villas Sun-Sat

Woohoo!

With a Woods View or Courtyard View the noise from the delivery area wouldn't be a factor.

All rooms at the Wilderness Lodge have either a patio (if room is located on ground floor) or a balcony. (whether it's off the lobby or not) The WCC can get rowdy but with the door closed I didn't hear any noise, some have & said it kept them up. :confused3
With a Courtyard View off the Lobby I prefer the 4th floor, it's great to open your door at Christmas and see the tree or enjoy the entertainment being offered.

As far as specifics, what do I request for each type when I talk to CRO? I read that Woods View 5th floor North Wing overlooking the Otter Pond was best for the MK view. Is that correct? How do I specifically request the Inner Courtyard/Lobby View?

For Woods View I request North Wing over looking the otter pond, if your lucky these rooms will have the best views of WISHES, this would also be my request for a room that would be the quietest. (But you never know about your neighbors) all the planning in the world on your part can't control other guest. For Coutyard View Just request Inner Courtyard/Lobby View.

Have a great trip.

The walk to the Lobby is less then 100 yards, but the walkway is covered and connects to the walkway that goes to the bus stops. You will be closer to the buses then the boat dock but as the Lodge and Villas are rather compact the walks aren't that far.

Beckie,

Thank you for your info. I think we'll go with the Woods View. If we get an upgrade, then I'll know to request the Lobby View if they have it. I think the kids would love to watch the fireworks at night. Getting a good nights sleep will go a long way in having a good trip. Thanks again.

Hi all, after much deliberation have booked 14 nights at the WL starting Aug 4th. Only be our second time on property (stayed at CBR last July). Really looking forward to this and we'll be there for older DD's (13) birthday. As a first question for the the Vet's (cause DW is gonna ask) what will be most different from CBR Thanks in advance. pirate:

Oh, quite a bit the CBR is very tropical and very spread out, the most distant guest rooms are up to 1/2 mile (10-15 minute walk) away from Old Port Royale (OPR), also called Center Towne, food court. The CBR has 2,112 guest rooms in 33 two-story buildings. (no elevators) The rooms have two full-size beds rooms that open onto an exterior corridor.

The Lodge has a Pacific Nortwest Theme very woodsy, and 728-rooms all contained in one main building. Most rooms have 2 queen size beds and some offer a queen-size bed and 1 bunk bed set for families. Wilderness Lodge also has Concierge and suites available. Two full service restaurants, a lounge and 2 snack bars, room service. (Three elevator banks) balconys/patio's interior hallways.

Whewww! that should get you started....

Hi everyone. I am new to the board and have spent the last few nights reading everything on the thread. I was leaning towards WL and you have all convinced me that I was right. We are planning a trip Nov/Dec 06 and I have a few questions for you. If I am seeing correctly on WDW web anyone under 3 does not count when making res, right? If so I am thinking that we can just get 2 queen beds and have the three kids 4 yr old twins and a 2 year old sleep together. Fred has convinced me that concierge is the way to go. We are wanting to leave home the day after Thanksgiving and drive down arriving at Disney on Saturday. How quickly does the concierge level fill up this time of year? I am holding out on making the reservations due to the rumor about Disney changing the "season" to a preholiday rate. With 3 kids we of course want to get the best deal. Does anyone know when Disney normally releases the next years rates? Also does the concierge level usually have an AP discount available?

Thanks in advance
Michelle

What is the view like from the lobby courtyard room? Is it of the lake/pools or Villas/quiet pool? What is your favorite courtyard view? What's best to request?

Thank you! Can't wait for our December trip!

Are the Woodsview and Courtyard View Lobby Rooms very noisy? Or does the door to the room block the noise? Trying to decide if a lobby room would be good for our Christmas trip.

Thank you!

When I was on the phone w/CRO yesterday the CM asked me if I had been to the lodge before. Said I seem to have an idea what Im talking about. Guess they can tell who's repeaters!

Hi, WELCOME to the DIS
Your first statement is correct you may have 4 in a room and an infant under the age of 3. (will he/she still be under 3 Dec 2006?)

This is a very popular time of year to visit Wilderness Lodge & WDW, both Concierge and the regular rooms are booked early so I would make the reservation as soon as possable if these are the dates you will need. If you make room only reservations you may change or reschedule them up to 5 days before your arrival. AP discount if available may be added to Concierge rooms.

If I remember correctly Disney releases the next years rates in late summer/early fall. Good Luck.
