Hey guys

I was just reading through page 1 of the WL faqs, and found this :
RECREATION
Pools:
All pools are outdoor and heated
One Main feature pool with a slide (Silver Creek Springs Pool)
Silver Creek Pool Hours Lifeguard/Slide
9:00a.m.-10:00p.m.
One quiet pool located at Villas, Hidden Springs Pool (No lifeguard on duty)

My question is, how strict are they with the pool hours? Is there a chance of getting into the pool early in the morning if we are nice and quiet?
What about later at night????

Thanks,Chris

We always took a midnight swim with the kids...so did alot of other families! They will not make you leave the pool as long as you are quiet and not horsing around!

TooBoyz4us

I need to update the hours...the hours listed are when lifegaurds are on duty..actually the pools are open until 12:00am

Just added addition inf: (you may swim earlier or until 12:00am No Lifeguard on duty and slide is closed if there is no lifeguard)

I know that alot of posts really make you question your resort decision constantly, but one I just read said that the 1st floor carpet smelled badly of mildew. Anyone else notice that?

The poster also said she could hear conversations in the next room the walls were so thin! Anyone else have that problem?

The good news was that the poster complained and was moved to another room.:D (Seems like good customer service)

Any thoughts would be appreciated!:wave2:

Never had the mildew smell that you mention. I have noticed during the afternoon that people go in and out of the pool and walk the halls wet. The pool water drips to the floor so you "may" notice a smell of chlorine but nothing too bad. (At least it doesn't bother me....)

As for the rooms and noise, yes, the walls tend to be a bit thin but it's never been a problem for us. You may hear something during the day such as excited children or the occasional argument but night time has always been quiet time. I've never had to complain.

Of course, if you put your ear up to the wall you might hear a bit better. That could be good or bad depending on how you look at it. :teeth: ::yes::

Can someone please confirm that if you ask and are granted a concierge upgrade at check in, you can be in your original room and not on the 7th floor. I'm not sure about being on the 7th floor and only being able to enjoy the view when standing on the balcony. Any thoughts/suggestions welcome!

This board is awesome! I'm so glad I found it!:teeth:

Yes you "can" do this but even with the view issue you have, I wouldn't. (Actually, I think they only do this when the rooms are full on the 7th floor or if you want a smoking room but I could be wrong. 7th floor is non smoking.)

See, the balconies on the 7th floor have some of the best views you can ask for. They are a bit more pivate than the other floors but standing up you won't get a better view.

For me, with a young child, it is also safer as the balcony is closed in.

I feel that for the view issue you would miss out on many of the perks that concierge offers. You would also get tired of having to go to the elevator each time to go to the 7th floor then back to your room.

I really enjoy just walking down the hall and being there whether is be for a chat or help from the concierge CMs (who are wonderfull if I may say so....) or to get some snacks. You kinda feel like the whole 7th floor is yours with the keycard access too. It's wierd and I don't know how to explain it.

I also just stayed at the Polynesian in concierge this past May and I can tell you for fact that they were not as good as the CMs at WL.

Anyway, hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

This is my first post on these boards so I hope I'm doing it right! My questions aren't strickly about WL, but because that is where we will be staying I wanted to ask here because it could be different at different resorts.

On our trip in Sept. we plan to set up our room cards so that we can "charge" on them while in the parks or resorts. I don't like to carry a lot of cash and credit cards around with me but will probably keep a little "emergency cash" on me just in case. So my question is...what can you NOT charge or your room card? Can I charge mickey ice cream bars, a bottle of water, Disney Quest tickets, mini golf, pictures they take of you on the rides???? I just don't want to be stuck not being able to buy or do something because we can't charge it on the room card.

Also, can I have them put my 14 year old on the card so he can charge too? Of course, he knows he can't charge something unless he has permission or he'll be paying us back (with interest)!!!

Thanks for any info you can give me!

You've come to the perfect place for info! I'm new to this thread myself but I read through all the pages before posting a few days ago. IMHO The people on this thread are incredibly nice & very helpful.:worship: I've read other threads where everyone was complaining & criticizing each other. Never here!

When we were at Fort Wilderness in 2002, we used our room cards for all our meals, souvenirs & photos taken at Epcot. We didn't use them for small items like water, but I'm sure someone else could answer that question. It is the Best system - one of the reasons we will never stay off-site again. Though we found that we spent a lot more - I'm sure Disney figured that out too LOL.

I believe I read somewhere that you can include your child on the room card, but you need to request it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Enjoy planning your trip!!!:jumping1:

Welcome to the DIS and the WL FAQ. :)

Just about everything you have mentioned can now be charged to your room key. If I recall correctly, the only place you can't use them is at the Swan and the Dolphin but I may be wrong there. (Those resorts are not directly owned by Disney.)

Up until a short while ago, you couldn't buy from the carts with your card but recently they started doing that too on a smaller test basis and have been expanding it since. By now, all carts could be equiped with the card terminals. Anyone wanna verify this?

I always carry a 50 with me just in case but I have not run into many situations where the room key could not be used. It is really convenient.

Good luck. Hope this helps.

Normally, they give you 2 cards at check-in that have the charging capabilities. I do beleive you can request an additional card for your child...but you may want the hotel to put a spending limit on your son's card!;)

Jennifer, congrats on your 1st post!!

Welcome! Yes, you can choose to have a child's card to have charging ability.

You'll love the lodge, it's so beautiful and relaxing!
