ETA: I just dyed my hair!! I used a light golden brown color, forget the brand. It's a little red for my liking but I was trying to cover up some very light blonde that I couldn't grow out enough. I think in a few weeks, before our cruise, I'll go over it again and get a little of the red out.

I just went back and read this, and I have the same problem. No matter what shade I choose, if I try to dye my hair light brown (my natural color is a light golden brown), it comes out a little redder than I want. A stylist told me to use shades with ash in them, but I haven't dyed my hair since before DS was born (just highlights), so I don't know if it works any better.

they have some stuff at sally beauty supply (dont know if you have one in your area) but it will take the red out.

I don't really mind the red, it's just a little too much!! I think i might try the light ash brown next time to tone it down. It's pretty close to what I was going for though. It was such a washed out blonde that this is better anyway!!

DMickey- we buy the Natural puffed cheetos all the time. I think they are yummy! So does Vaylie.

Ash- that's great that you found stuff. I wouldn't worry too much about the sizing, because most kids slow down at around a year old. You've inspired me to go to a consignment sale, though- it's Sept. 27th. I am so excited!!

Pollito- I totally plan on being there early. DH is going to be thrilled!

I haven't dyed my hair in forever. I need to- I am seeing all kinds of bling-y grays up there. :sad2: I am TOO YOUNG for gray hairs. I really like my natural color, though.

Hey Ladies!

Just a quick check-in before anyone else gets into work. Amazingly, I was the last one to leave yesterday and the first to arrive this morning -- kind of feels like I haven't left!

Both Colin and I have been suffering from a cold. We took him to the clinic on Wednesday night, because it looked like he might have another ear infection (poking at it all day). Well, the doctor working the clinic looked like she was about 3 MINUTES out of med school, walked in with a textbook, had NO idea how to handle a 14 month old, ended up prescribing a STRONGER antibiotic than last time and didn't really listen to any of my concerns about the cold making him sound a little rattley. And then! When DH went to pick up the rx, the pharmacist tells him that the drug she's prescribed has been DISCONTINUED!!! And, the clinic is closed, so he faxed it over for the morning. We finally got a call for "Colin" last night (seriously, "Hi, is Colin there please?"...and I was like "Ummm...this is Colin's mother, he's not old enough to answer the phone *quite* yet!) from the drug store saying that they had the replacement. In the mean time, I totally don't think that his ear is bad enough to warrant putting him on the stronger antibiotic, since Wednesday night when I gave him his bottle of cold milk before bed, he was gumming the nipple, which makes me suspect serious teething is occuring.

Grrr....sometimes I gotta wonder about the Canadian Health Care system!! Blech.

And then!! Last night, DH tells me that MIL doesn't want to look after Colin 2 days a week now -- only wants 1 day. Thankfully, the home daycare he's at 2 days a week was able to take him an extra day, so now he's with her 3 days, MIL 1 day and DH's nonna 1 day...I love that he's staying with family 2 days a week, but sometimes, I think it might be a bigger pain than it's worth!

In other news, tonight is my baby group's "Mommies' Night Out" which I'm super excited about -- I miss those girls since we've all gone back to work!!

Ahhhhh...guess I should get to work. TGIF!!!

Good morning ladies!

mrs.explorer1977 - Gotta love those fresh docs! Seriously, sometimes if they would just 'listen'...

I have never gone to a consignment sale. You wil all have to report back on all your fabulous finds.

Well, Lady Lila didn't do so well last night. She was squirmy, restless and didn't nurse well at all. Of course, she ate like a champ this morning. She is still sleeping in my bed, instead of the bassinet. I am starting to seriously wonder why we bothered putting the silly thing up. On the upside, she lost her umbillical cord. Now here is the question...it still has some dried blood and looks 'raw'. Do I wipe it off at all? Gosh, it has been so long.

I almost forgot....here are a few pictures of Lila, one week.

Michelle -- is Ike going to affect you - you are in TX right? Be safe!!

Bec - I know - I have gray hairs as well and it freaks me out.

Ash -- I am so jealous of how well you make clothes - love the cow overalls!

Hi to anyone I forgot!!

MickeyFliers- Lila is a doll! How sweet! I miss when Vaylie was so little. It goes by so quickly.

Emphasis on MOST!! Mine hasn't.

That sucks ... I hope he is feeling better soon. I think that is what people worry about with NHC. Why do you say that you hate the system as opposed to the clinic or doctor??

I can not get our other dog to stop having peepee accidents in the house. I take him out at 7am, 9-10am, 12-1pm, 4pm, 6pm and before bed around 9pm. I can't figure it out. It's usually when we are not home but I can't NOT go out all the time. I just found another recent accident in DS's bedroom. I don't think it's location related because it's random ... I don't really know what to do. I can't crate him when we leave because in his past life he was a crate chewer. I could gate him in the kitchen with his food/water but I am afraid that it will cause him to howling more ... our neighbor told me yesterday that he howls sometimes when we are gone. I am experiementing with leaving the tv on to see if that helps. It is not the month for pets with me ... have i told you about our cat? The one that lost mucho amounts of weight in the last month ... just spent $250 on tests at the vet to see what's up. Hopefully we find something out in a little while. She is acting fine, eating fine, jumping, playing, cuddling just dropping weight like crazy. She is now 7.5lbs and all skin and bones. ARGH ....

Amie- Lila is beautiful!!!

I am jealous ... *TODAY* I am ready for another baby! There was a mom in the grocery store with a monthish old baby and one about Alexanders age. I was thinking, hey I can do that. I am going to learn more about babywearing with the next one!! I drive poor DH nuts with the one day being ready and the next day wanting to wait. I think that falls under the 'let nature runs it course' category!!

I know what you mean. We planned on having the next baby as soon as possible, but I was always nervous that it might be pretty crazy. Now, I'm really ready, and any time I see someone with 2 really young kids, it just reinforces it.

BTW - babywearing is pretty cool. You can try it now with Alex. Christopher likes it, especially when he's tired. Most of the carriers are pretty snuggly.

How would I go about it with Alexander? The only thing I ever had as far as carrier with him had a weight limit he has surpased and it killed my back. What do you use? Alexander is over 28lbs and 35inches.

I have a couple different things I use with him.

1. An Ergo. It looks like a backpack that he sits down into, and you can wear it on your front or back. The weight limit is 40lbs, but many people report carrying heavier kids with it.

2. A ring sling. This one only has a weight limit of 35 lbs, and isn't as good if he's feeling wiggly (he's learned how to push himself out of it.)

3, A BabyHawk Mei Tai. This one involves a bit more coordination to get him in and out. It also has a 40lb weight limit, and you can wear it on the front or back.

I just looked up the Mei Tai baby brand one. I think that DS would enjoy being carried more rather than in the shopping cart or something. Do primarily carry him on your back now or in the front? Just one more thing to get me excited about a newborn ... geeze. *TODAY* I can't wait until after our cruise to start trying again. I need to wait because I am supposed to get AF that week so I am going back to back my pills and then go off them after that pack.

I usually wear him on my back - it seems to be more comfortable now that's he's older. I like the Ergo for longer trips, but I've been looking at a Beco. Wicked expensive though :)

It's kind of like a stroller obsession without the wheels.....

Too funny about Colin's first phone call! :rotfl2:
As for the Canadian health care system - it still seems better than the American one! I have health insurance through my work that I pay over $200/month for, and it still cost me ~ $1,600 when I had my appendix out earlier this year.

Mickeyfliers - Lila is adorable, she makes me want a little girl now! :lovestruc Sorry I don't have any advice on the umbilical cord thing, I've already forgotten too! :upsidedow

Nicole - have a great trip to the world!

Jen - I wish I could have worn Alex more, but he has always been so wiggly! He just hates being still or cooped up, and it just gets worse the older he gets. Part of what makes me want another baby now, especially a cute little girl that might be a little more relaxed and cuddle more.

*******************

It seems like my family's health is just falling apart lately. First Alex had a cold, then I got MRSA (or something like it), now DH has had the flu and a fever for 3 days. The fever finally broke and he is feeling better, but now his left eye is all swollen and we're not sure why. It's not bruised, crusty or watery, just swollen. He thinks Alex hit him in the face a few days ago, but it's been a couple days, so kind of a delayed reaction. :confused3

But good news, we're going to a Cardinals game on Sunday with my cousin, which will be my husband's first football game ever! My family are all huge football fans, and my husband just doesn't get it. I'm hoping that actually going to a game will help convince him how much fun it is!

Pollito- I am the lone "non-football" person in dh's family. DH isn't super into it-but likes a game now and then. But my BIL and SIL are addicts (seriously- this has just become an obsession in the last 2-3 years), and my FIL and MIL watch quite a bit. I watch one game every year- the Superbowl. And everyone knows I just go for the food. I always take a book.

Jen and DMickey- I have a Peanut Shell sling; loved it! Vaylie is too independent and wiggly now, though. But, I'm going to use it with the next one, for sure.

*And I am ready for a baby now, too. Just not a pregnancy :sad2:

DMickey- I'm wondering if your dog is going through a phase now that Lobo is gone? Or did it start before that?
