Hi Guys

Just got back from Izzy's appt at Children's Hospital in Boston - we saw an orthopedic doctor --- she said Izzy was 100% fine and totally normal. She said all babies have flat feet and are a little bow legged and she is no exception. As far as the low muscle tone - she completely disagreed with the EI people and said she does NOT have low muscle tone -- she is totally normal!!

Whew...what a relief! She is doing great too -- crawling super fast - pulling up to standing and walking holding onto our hands.

She weighed in at 23 lbs and was 30 inches long!

I feel like a weight has been lifted off me knowing she is ok. Now DH and I can go to Disney and enjoy ourselves.

Glad to hear there are some other Texas Roadhouse fans here -- we love it there!! Sorry to be making Bec and others jealous about WDW -- I know that feeling and have been there myself -- but remember - next year you are going and I will be stuck home - hopefully preggers again -- but not getting to be at WDW and I will be insanely jealous of you!!! I really am having WDW withdrawals though...I did not get to go in 2006 because I was pregnant -- I can't wait for Saturday!

Bethany -- omg about the neighborhood lockdown -- that would scare the crap out of me - glad all was ok though!

Someone rang our doorbell at 10pm last night - woke both DH and I up from a sound sleep -- thankfully did not wake up Izzy -- DH was swearing and pissed saying who the heck is ringing the bell at 10pm at night -- turns out it was our neighbor - single girl in late 20's/early 30's -- her dog ran off into the woods and she was crying needing a flashlight -- we have coyotes in the woods behind our house and hers so I don't blame her for being nervous -- dog was recovered safely though and back to bed we went!

Have a great day all!

-Nicole

DMickey, hooray about Lobo! That's such great news!! I'm so glad that he's got a good home and you get to see him settled in.

Nicole, that's great news about Izzy! I'm glad that she's on track and everything looks normal. Have a wonderful, relaxing trip at WDW!

MickeyFliers, welcome and congrats on Lila!

Ash, I hear you on the wooden furniture as a magnet. Owen is getting faster with his crawling, and of course it's the coffee table that he wants to try and get to and investigate. :headache: We bought the corner/edge guard stuff, but I want to cover the entire table with the stuff!

We're all glad that the neighborhood craziness settled down and ended with no one getting hurt (except for one of the suspects who got hit by a car while he was trying to run away from the police). The major bummer is that they crashed their stolen car into our brand new library. :sad2: It's bad enough that our neighborhood got a tiny library with not so many books (while the wealthier neighborhoods got 2 story librarys with big collections), but now some dorks go and smash their car into the library we do have. Ugh! But the good news is that only the librarians were there, because the library wasn't supposed to open for another hour. One hour later, and there would have been a group of kids sitting just where the car hit the wall.

:confused3 Dmickey- what great news on LOBO- i am so happy for you. what a relief it is to know he has a great home and is already settling in. I am so glad it worked out for everyone. :wizard:

Ash- it's so hard to baby proof- it seems no matter what I do, he finds something i missed. I usually just block off the back living room and kitchen, but let him roam the foyer, den, and dining room. But even then, he climbs under the dining table to the china cabinet and starts opening the doors where the china is. time to put locks on those. Then i had a little metal wrought iron type table, he started trying to pull that over. And now he is opening drawers on a dresser in the entryway too. it never fails. :rotfl: I wish i had just a bunch of pillows around him. he hit his head on the bed this morning in our bedroom- he isn't ever in there hardly at all and of course the one time he is, he hits his head on a corner of the bed that is sharp and has a nice little bruise now. can we just tape pillows to them and let them walk around like that? ?

Bethany- glad the car chase and criminals was all handled. how scary! it happens everywhere though.

TX roadhouse- love it! of course i am in TX though! lol

Nicole- great news on Izzy! so how many days til the trip now? :woohoo:

Denise- hope school is going well

just had some bday cake for a coworker and now i am stuffed. leaving early to go see Mama Mia (the musical, not movie) tonight with my mom, sisters and some other friends.

Dmickey - great news on lobo! That's awesome that they found a good family for him.

Michelle - I hear you about the childproofing. Every time I think I've found everything he could possibly get into, he finds yet another thing.

Bethany - that sounds kind of scary! We don't generally get a lot of police chases through here, unless they're chasing stray cows or something.

Amie - hi there :)

I must be the most relaxed parent .... Alexander bumps into things all the time and I just let it be!!! I figure he's a boy and he's going fall and hit things. The fall on the concrete was scary but I can't even tell you how many times he hits his head, face or mouth on the corner of the wall/coffee table or dinning room table a day!!! I went out to look for a carpet for our foyer today because he always falls on it and DH is getting paraniod he is going to crack his head open on it.

I think I walk the fine line between letting him be a boy and protecting him but maybe I am too lax!!!!

I am also not allowed to buy Pirates Booty anymore ... I will literally give Alexander a handful after dinner and eat the rest of the bag myself. At least it's somewhat more healthy!!

Good Morning! Thought I might drop in on this thread now that my little one has arrived (9/2). Actually, Lila is my 4th, but it has been 6 years since my last and I can't remember if I am doing all of this right

Welcome and congratulations! I'm sure it will all come back to you, like riding a bike! :goodvibes

Pollito : Glad Alec has fun in the pool – its great that you are teaching him to like the pool/water – I always feel bad for kids that are afraid of the water. MRSA - geez - how scary!! My secretary’s husband has that – and you have to be careful! Is it confirmed as MRSA?

No confirmation, but the medication seems to be helping. Yesterday for the first time it stopped itching!

So - the WDW countdown is on...5 more days till we leave.
Izzy is doing great by the way— you may remember how nervous I was that she was not crawling at 9 months and I had an Early Intervention done and they said she was fine!
So - last week - I had one of the biggest moments ever in my career ----- I argued a case before the Supreme Court of my state – the highest court in our state – a panel of 7 judges – it was awesome!!

Have fun on your trip, Nicole! I'm glad to hear that Izzy is doing so well, sometimes they just need a little motivation to get going, but then you can't stop them if you try! :rotfl: And congrats on the Supreme Court case - you rock! :thumbsup2

I bet I have walkers by the time we are a year.

Looks like we're going to have lots of new walkers around here soon! :yay:

We decided to order Christopher his own the other day, and then figured DH would eat whatever was left. Needless to say, my little horse didn't have much left :) I think the days of eating off mommy's plate are over....

It's funny, DS used to eat a full kids meal, but recently he has gotten picky and too busy to eat, so we have gone back to sharing again. :confused3

I have emailed back and forth with Lobo's new mommy and will go up to see him and where he is living later this week.

Yay! That was so nice of them to notify you that Lobo was adopted and keep in contact with you. It must be such a relief for you. :goodvibes

We went and had her first professional pictures taken on Saturday, I should be able to pick them up next week. I think it went pretty well, but she had gotten tired and hungry so the session didn't last so long. By the time they put this big pink tutu on her she was done. But I got a couple of good shots and I'll just have to try again in a couple of months.

Alex was always the same way, not much luck with professional pics. I love my digital camera, otherwise I would have no decent pics of him. :lovestruc

A huge chunk of our neighborhood is closed off by police and from everything I can find out from the neighborhood newsgroup, it sounds like they are searching for a man and two women who are suspects in an attempted murder case! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
Update just minutes later:
Just found out that it's all over, they caught the 3 suspects. Thank goodness! Now I get to look for it on the news tonight...hooray for our police officers!!

How scary for you! Thank goodness for the police! :woohoo:

I must be the most relaxed parent .... Alexander bumps into things all the time and I just let it be!!! I figure he's a boy and he's going fall and hit things.

I am also not allowed to buy Pirates Booty anymore ... I will literally give Alexander a handful after dinner and eat the rest of the bag myself. At least it's somewhat more healthy!!

I often feel that I am too relaxed, for the same reason, boys will be boys.

Oh, and I LOVE  Pirate's Booty too! They have bag at Trader Joe's that is half the price and twice as big!

Well, Alex has moved into the jealousy phase. He does NOT like to see DH touch me or hug or kiss me. We were sitting on the couch yesterday watching a movie while Alex was playing on the floor. He looked up at us, came screaming over to the couch, took DH's hand off my shoulder than sat in my lap sucking his thumb. Then later DH hugged me & Alex stopped playing in his toy kitchen and ran over to me fake-crying with his arms up to be picked up. When I picked him up, he laid his head on my shoulder and continued fake crying until DH left the room! :rolleyes1

I love the extra attention from my normally not so cuddly boy, but this is going to get old fast!

OMG ... that must be sooo cute but I can see it getting old. I am sure your DH understands but that still must be hard for him. My DS often pushes away from DH but I think it's because he doesn't get to see him much and when he does he is usually tired which means, I want my mommy!!

I'm pretty lax about falling and bumping and bruising, too. (Unless of course she flings herself 3 feet off a changing table at the mall. :sad2: ) But normal falls and bumps? Whatever. And I don't even have a "boys will be boys" excuse, I just have a little dare-devil! She climbs, jumps, and falls all the time. Sometimes it's a lesson learned.

What, exactly is Pirate's Booty? I don't know what it is, but you are making it sounds yummy.

Nicole- That is SO great about Izzy! I knew everything would be fine, but I'm glad you feel better. Now, onto the World.

Bethany- I cracked up when I read "some dorks" crashed their car into the library. Dorks, indeed. But you're right- at least there were no kids there!

DMIckey- the murad kit is the Acne Starter kit for $35 at Sephora. It has a cleanser/toner in one, exfoliating acne treatment gel, spot treatment, and moisturizer- which feels really nice and not greasy.

Pollito- Vaylie is the same way about eating- she's just too busy and she is still won't eat her darn veggies. Although she does like salad. Yay! And she doesn't really do the jealous thing yet- but she does run to whichever parent isn't making her mad (like, she becomes Daddy's girl if Mommy says it's time for a nap or bed).

Ash - Seriously, it has been a long time. I have been MIA for a bit. No drama for me.

Yeah I was totally MIA for the first couple of months after Ellery was born. I had no idea what was going on with anything, except I was tired! Those first couple of months I don't remember anything except endless breastfeeding and no sleep. I can't even remember Christmas last year. Someone took pictures so I know that I was there.

Ash- lol, I know what you mean. I don't remember March 07, Arpil 07, or most of May 07.

Those first 3 months are so hard. Once we got past that, though- we were smooth sailing (as much as possible, anyway ;) ).

I'm not exactly sure what Pirate's Booty is made of, but to me it is like popcorn without the kernals, and with white cheddar flavor on it.

Oh, and Alex definitely does the same thing with trying to play us against each other, especially at bed time.

Pirates Booty is an all natural popped rice corn snack with cheese. It kind of tastes like Smartfood but less strong, more fluffy and natural. It melts in their mouths similar to the Gerber puffs. I honestly do not have a bag right now to get the details because I eat the bags within a day or two of bringing them home. I will probably buy more today or tomorrow!!

Alexander and I just home from seeing Lobo in his new home. It's perfect for him and I am so happy. I brought him his toys and blanket and crates. I got some pictures. He recongnized us and climbed in my car. He was circling the car trying to go home when we were leaving. It was hard but I had no desire to take him with me. I know that is the perfect home for him ... he has two other dogs to play with, a pot belly pig named Charlotte and a couple of horses!!!!

ETA: I don't remember the first 8 weeks very clearly. I just remember snippets! Most of those snippets involving sitting in a dark living room nursing while everyone else is sleeping. I remember looking out our balcony window and wondering what in the world the cars were doing driving downtown at 3am. I remember losing my mind in week 6 and begging my mom to come help me. She flew down a few days later and we actually went up to WDW for a few nights!!!! I vaguely remember moving in mid June when Alex was 7-8 weeks old. I don't remember packing but I remember going back and forth from the new place quite a few times and painting it over while he was in his car carrier!!! No fumes and the other room so don't worry!!!

I'm about to go shopping at a consignment sale for Ellery's fall/winter clothes. I just don't know what size to get. I'm thinking 2T, she's already wearing 24 months. Hmm, maybe I should look up the difference between 24 months and 2T....

I love consignment sales - you can get some great deals!

I don't think there is much of a difference between 24 months and 2T in some brands. If she is already wearing 24 months, you may want to get 3T, but that seems so big! Alex is older than Ellery and he is just now wearing 24 months, though some brands are already too small, and he is in the 90% height range for his age. Why can't all the brands have the sizing be the same? :confused3

Pollito- so cute about Alex being jealous, but i know it will get frustrating after a while, but enjoy the extra cuddle time! :goodvibes

Dmickey- glad Lobo's new home is great!

Ash- i don't think there is a huge difference on the 12 and 24, but I can tell enough of a difference in anything that is like a onsie, they can sometimes be too big in a 24 on him. but shirts and pants/shorts are usually okay, unless they are too long (and he's tall and big- 75th and higher percentile at 9mos).

Well Mama Mia was great! oh and i also just got some great news- i was supposed to travel to Atlanta for work this weekend for 4 nights. I had already booked my non refundable flight over 6 weeks ago to get a better rate through our AMEX corporate travel folks. WEll now that i am not going (since my last day is next thursday)-----they will credit ME the ticket amount. So i have a year to use that $289 with american airlines. so i didn't plan on it, but i will end up getting a free flight from work! i can use it for the podcast disney cruise in may i guess. yeah! an unexpected benefit of quitting i guess. Oh and i spent $300 on over the counter drugs today. i have a flexible spending account and had over $250 in there. I had to either spend it or lose it since i am quitting. I have a visa card i use for it- like a debit card. I can only buy medically approved stuff- like prescriptions, copays, contacts, OTC stuff. So i got a ton of baby tylenol, all sorts of stomach, flu, cold meds and a lot of MIDOL! lol.....i think i am stocked up on drugs for a year now. also got a nice thermometer for Will too- the head swipe kind.

Michelle- I LOVE our flexible spending account!!! We have made really good use of it. And that's awesome that you get a free flight!

Ash- I have never been to a consignment sale, but I just found one happening in a couple of weeks in St. Louis, and I am GOING!!! They had all kinds of stuff (there were photos of the past two sales, they have one every spring and fall). I always have a hard time guessing what size to get Vaylie too. She's in 12-18 months stuff now. She's 50th percentile for height, and 25th for weight, so she's kinda tiny. :cutie: But, since she hit 1, she has slowed down the growing.

Vaylie got her hair cut today and did SUCH a good job! She only likes Lizzie at the salon for some reason. With anyone else she screams her head off. :confused3 Lizzie loves her too, though, so it works. I got my hair cut too, and I LOVE it!!! :cool1: New hair cut, new make-up: I feel like a hot mama! :cool2: I needed a boost.

Dmickey- I am so glad Lobo is doing well at his new home! He'll be so much happier and you can rest easy knowing he's in good hands. Now- where do I lay my hands on some Pirate Booty? I have got to try this stuff now.

I got lots of great deals at the consignment sale but I wish that I had bought bigger clothes. Ellery has already outgrown everything in her closet and had nothing for winter so I bought mostly 2T, but I wish I had gotten more 3T. The only thing I've tried on her so far is a pair of 2T jeans and they are a little snug around the waist. They are so cute too, maybe her growth will start to slow a little bit so she can wear them longer. I think maybe she's going to be shaped like me (sorry kid) because today she's wearing a pair of 2T pants and a 12 month shirt. I'm glad that I got a lot of dresses, we seem to do better with dresses...
I need to get sewing on making her some holiday wear though, everything at the sale was still expensive for holiday stuff and I can just make it myself. I just need more time... haha.

Becky - I just bought two bags of Pirates Booty and 1/2 of one is gone already. It's in the natural section of our local Publix. Oddly enough I couldn't find it last week at our local Greenwise store. Whole Foods has it too. I also bought some white cheddar Natural puffed cheetos ... something like that. I am going to compare them!!

Michelle - That's great about the flex spending account. I need to figure out how to pay dr. bills out of it ... We aren't allowed to use ours for OTC stuff. That would be much better if we could. I think we have $250 in there right now and I just got three months worth of samples of my only rx so I have nothing to use it on!!! I have a bill of DS's that I'd like to pay off with some of that money!

ETA: I just dyed my hair!! I used a light golden brown color, forget the brand. It's a little red for my liking but I was trying to cover up some very light blonde that I couldn't grow out enough. I think in a few weeks, before our cruise, I'll go over it again and get a little of the red out.

Ash- I have never been to a consignment sale, but I just found one happening in a couple of weeks in St. Louis, and I am GOING!!!

Have fun and get there EARLY! Seriously, like at opening time, the good stuff goes early. And if you see something you like, pick it up b/c by the time you come back to it, it could be gone.
