the pool at the YV/BC is the best on property, but there's something about the GF that i've fallen in love with.....
though i'm not sure what it is....
something about it is magical to me....i really enjoyed staying there...
this was our first time there...
we've stayed at all the other hotels (other than the caribbean beach)....
we've stayed at the BC and YC numerous times......but if not for the pool i'd never stay there again.......

Disneyaholic I'm afraid I'll be like you and not want to stay anywhere else when we stay there this fall. We stayed there for 3 nights years ago but now we are bringing our two kids and I'm about ready to burst I'm so excited. I've seen pictures of the new pool area and it looks fantastic!

it's also my 18 year old daughter's favorite WDW resort....
she's the one who refers to it as 'magical'....
i really can't say exactly why it feels that way to me, but it does...
maybe because it's much brighter than the YC, BC and AKL, which all tend to have dark lighting....

but the service was also superb....
and the rooms are lovely....not to mention bigger....

It's always been my husbands dream to stay there again, disneyaholic, so this is going to be a real treat for all of us. Of course Ikeep thinking once my Ds gets a look at that pool area we won't be able to tear him away.

Hi again- almost time to go, I can't stand the waiting! Can you tell me if there are coffee pots in the room, and if so are they the little 4 cup makers? Can you put your own small size filters in them with your own coffee, or do you have to use those little all in one packs? I know this is trivial, but I'm trying to avoid taking my coffee maker.

i'm really sorry but i can't remember.....we don't drink coffee so i don't pay attention......
there might have been, but we stayed at 4 different hotels at WDW so it's hard to remember what had what....
if it's very important, you could call them and ask....i'm sure they'll be happy to answer your question....

Hi
I know this was probably already asked but couldn't find it....
staying onsite (and at GF) for 1st time. I know rooms have a "stocked" refrig...is there enough room to squeeze in my DD medicine that needs to be kept cold? (she needs it daily)
We are flying to WDW and i will keep a "cold pack" on it then but it would be nice not to have to rent a refrig for $10 /day (or keep it in the ice bucket w/ice everyday.) thanks:sunny:

They've always given me a complimentary one, but others have said that they were charged $10/day. The front desk will tell you that the offical word is $10/day plus taxes, though. :)

Where could I find pictures of the GF at christmas? We are thinking of staying early Dec.

CaliforniaDreaming, did the GF change their policy about charging for the refrigerator in the room because I remember that the policy was that the GF was the only deluxe that would give a refrig. at no cost if one was available. When we went back in 1998, we received at no cost, a refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave. I was impressed at that. Also, I am trying to get an AP rate for concierage in early November but so far I could only get a garden view non concierage room. We stayed at the Poly concierage in 2001 and now we are hooked on it. But we still prefer the Grand Floridian. I have a feeling that you are going to change part of your reservations for next time back to the GF.

Thanks, Carolyn

i was told that the AP discount is only available for the sugarloaf concierge (not in the main building)......
we were in the sugarloaf concierge building and loved it (using an AP discount, though even with the discount it was very expensive)....

in the GF, BC and YC concierge rooms we stayed in fhis summer we used the minibar fridge for our own food and medicine....we just moved the other stuff around that was already in there.....

With the refrigerators, it really depends. I know a few DIS'ers were charged $10/day, and some have gotten them complimentary (seems like the ones in concierge). I asked a CM at the front desk, and she told me it was $10/day. I suppose you could always ask for a complimentary one. :)

When I switched to GF last May I asked about the fridge and they said it's in the room. I had mentioned that I would need to bring "stuff" for my DS. Plus I think if you have meds for your child they give you the fridge for free, can someone confirm?

Usually they will give them to you for free if they are for medical reasons. Like I said before, I have always gotten them complimentary (just by asking), so I really have no idea how/if they really charge $10/day if that's what they tell you about the charge.

Cali and disneyholic,
Thanks for all the info. I think i will tell/show them my DD's med and see if it will fit in the minibar fridge. If not I will ask them nicely if I could have a fridge to store it without the charge. We have small snacks for our room but were really not planning on chilling anything other than the med. so $10 is a lot for a medicine bottle...thanks again.:bounce:

On the confirmation letter I received, mine states complimentary refrigerator right on the reservation.

as i've mentioned, YC, BC and GF all have a minibar fridge in the rooms (i think both concierge and regular)....
i always stick our food in there by moving the minibar cans and bottles around....
it's quite obvious to the person who comes to check the minibar that we're using it for sandwich meats and the like...
they don't care and never charge....

Hey if anyone has photos of a Honeymoon Suite in the Main Building, I'd love to check them out. Thanks.
