KCmike : thanks for posting these beautiful pictures and reminding me exactly why we love the GF so much !!

We were thinking about trying something new our next trip, (ahem, Poly, ahem) but after seeing your pics, my DH said, "seriously, you still want to go someplace else?". ( lets just say it's a one sided "let's try something else") Unfortunately, we're not going back until 2013.... but at least I can dream here on the GF thread until then !!!

Sadly to report that we are back from our short trip, but we had an AMAZING time!!
We did the ME, which I thought would take forever due to the amount of people flooding into that area. All in all we were on our way to the Magic Kingdom by noon.
Our first room location was in the Big Key Pine Building, which is fine, but I was so disappointed. I paid to have a Magic Kingdom View, needless to say all I saw was the Contemporary. If I wanted to see the Magic Kingdom, I had to stand on the chair lean over the balcony & move the tree branches. I called the front desk & complained. They were kind enough to move us to the Sago Cay Building. We were in Room 5145. We LOVED this room. Had a nice view of the Magic Kingdom, the Lagoon, the Contemporary & the Monorail.
My only disappointment this trip was the fact that they did not get the room ready for our 5th person (who was visiting WDW for the 1st time). I had to call Mousekeeping (at midnight) & tell them. Mousekeeping came in, took the extra pillow & blanket out of the closet, took the cover off the day bed & threw the pillow & blanket on the day bed & walked out :scared1: . I was too tired to complain, but if it was not to my liking the next day I was going to say something. Thankfully the next day & everyday after the room was made up perfectly!
We didn't let the disappintment in the beginning of our trip ruin the rest of our time. The GRAND was beautiful in everyway. They left a box of belguim chocolates with an adorable card for my DD, as we were celebrating her 16th Birthday. (I will try and post some pics, if I can figure it out)
I will write more later!

One more work day. And we fly out Monday. 10 days til our Grand Floridian arrival :worship:
Yay! Hope you have a wonderful vacation!

Glad to hear your trip turned out well. Can't wait to hear more and see those pictures. :goodvibes

Glad you had a great time, we had some mousekeeping problems when we were there as well, but still enjoyed our stay there. GF always seems to do something nice for their guest celebrating birthdays.

johnsonet - I forgot to say how nice it is to see you!

disadventurer - were you at the YC the last week of July? If so, we DID miss each other, phooey! DD and I were in SAB every afternoon, so we probably bobbed past you in the lazy river.

Did any of your family get a sunburn this trip? I told my DD, this is the first summer that I've gotten such a burn, and we were slathering on sunscreen - the sun felt like it was a foot above my head. I even got burned on my scalp, which has never happened!:headache:

Thanks for the tip about LUSH, we'll have to take a look next time.

sydneysmom - it's hard to go elsewhere, isn't it?! We love many of the deluxe resorts, but have a hard time giving up the GF. Maybe a split stay?

pas130 - two more days until you are on your way! So exciting!:dance3:

Sweetly - thanks for the review, so glad to hear you had a Grand vacation.:goodvibes I'm happy to hear you were given a much better TPV when you asked to be moved.:thumbsup2

How sweet about the card and chocolates for your DD's birthday. It's amazing that such a small thing can make a big impression, isn't it?

KC Mike - thanks!:flower3: I do feel much, much better, thankfully. Love those shots of the palms.

disadventurer and k&a&c'smom thanks for the great ideas. That lobby is amazing. To sit down relax and enjoy a glass of wine would be wonderful. My daughter has already mentioned that she wishes to go to tea at the Grand Floridian. Looking forward to the trip. We will be there September 17th.:yay::yay:

We were there 8/3-8/10 and we just fried. I use Cetaphil 15 on my face I I learned, alas, it is not waterproof. DD19 and I floated, went down the slide :rotfl2::rotfl2: etc. DH laid out like a snake. DD19 stayed with him for awhile, but gave in and joined me in the water. DS16 enjoyed the pool the first day, and then enjoyed the shade and all the soda and combinations thereof he could drink:woohoo::woohoo: in his nifty new mug. I must say the top of my forehead and my part were burnt. We didn't bother with the water parks or minigolf--too hot. Did enjoy the quiet pool right outside our room at night. It must have been in the 90s. DD19 missed the Grand though--it was a tough choice! I must say it was nice to be near EPCOT, but missed hearing the train at rope drop!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

Please let me know how tea goes:worship::worship: Always wanted to try it with her--someday:lovestruc:lovestruc

The lobby is just beautiful and the music is well, grand!! Catch the fireworks outside too!

KC Mike - Nice shot of the entryway to Narcoossee's! You know, I've never gotten photos of that restaurant empty.

I did get a shot of the entry to V&A's this past trip, but it was through the door window - I can't seem to get up there when they unlock them prior to the first seating. I'm going to post that photo on the first page when I get it uploaded.

midge3426 - you're welcome!:goodvibes You'll be in the lobby before you know it.

disadventurer - I hear ya, the sun this summer was brutal! My part is where I got the worst burn, too, along with my shoulders. I laughed about your DS soaking up the shade and soda combinations - my boys loved making concoctions at that age as well. Never had to worry about Mom drinking their mixture.

You really have to try tea sometime, it is so relaxing and fun.

We miss hearing the train whistle, too, whenever we stay elsewhere. DD and I were discussing how much we missed the GF, even though we loved our stay at BC.

GF called yesterday to check any room requests we have. I am good wherever we are! I want to thank everyone here for helping me get excited and all the great pics, info, TR! I will let you know how our stay is in 2 weeks when we get home!!! :lovestruc

Awesome!:yay::banana::yay: We've never been called to ask about room requests, very nice. I wonder if that is part of the new concierge program?

Safe travels, and have a magical, Grand vacation.:cloud9:

For all those lucky enough to be at the GF the next few weeks, be sure to take an early morning stroll. You will enjoy how peaceful it is!

All of these photos have me super excited to be there next month! I only agreed to stay there for my mother because she fell in love with it, but I think I may be more excited than she is now!
