We are looking to check in on November 12 - 20th. Will the Christmas Tree and Gingerbread house be up yet? Thanks so much:)

It usually goes up around the 15th - btw... if you are there during that time.. it's fun to watch them put it all together.. we did.. some of it was done overnight. The tree will take an entire day and the G bread house will take I think 2...

I've been mostly lurking, but I'll say that I really am enjoying your shots too KCMike! :goodvibes
Since we've never stayed at the GF before, your pics as well as the rest of the thread is helping to get me excited for the trip in September. ::yes::

So excited, as a matter of fact, that my DH made me upgrade three days ago to CL.

Happy 40th Bday to HIM!:rotfl2:

Congrats and I'm happy to oblige.

After changing the resort for my last 2 nights of my November trip way too many times to be considered 'normal' :lmao: I've finally finally settled on the GF. I'm staying BC CL for the first week for F&W before moving over to the GF (the idea being eating at V&As, plus spending some serious spa time relaxing), I've gone for a theme park view as opposed to a CL room as I just felt I wouldn't really get any benefit for my last 2 nights, I'd appreciate some advice please on the preferred location for a theme park view room? I've only stayed at the GF once before, at the RPC, so don't really have a handle on the lodges.

Thanks :goodvibes

Thank you! Did you have any problem getting one? We have never needed one before so I wasn't sure how hard it was to get one.

We didn't have an issue at AKL, and it seems like GF has more than AKL does. Just be sure to request one, and have them note it on your reservation.

Just wanted to say :wave2: Nice to see you here!

ahhh, on a rainy day in New England I truly appreciate the pool picture! Great picture, I can almost feel the warm sun and cool water :)
Speaking of the pool, are there certain hours the slide is open?

IlovemythreeC's - Welcome!:cheer2: I think you will love the Grand in its Christmas finery.

Tink rules - thanks for the Christmas tree/gingerbread input. I've never been during November, so it is always nice to hear others' experiences.

ClareH37 - Welcome back!:goodvibes LOL about changing plans - I can relate!

We've had TPV rooms in Big Pine Key and Boca Chica; while the BPK room had a nice view, the general consensus among those who've booked TPV regularly is that the rooms in Conch Key and Sago Cay provide the best views of the castle.

britfish - the beach pool is open 'til midnight (I think), but the lifeguards and slide have shorter hours. I couldn't find hours for our last few visits, but I have an old "Around and About" page that states the hours for lifeguards and slide were 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. This was in October '07, summer hours are likely longer.

britfish - I remembered I have this photo on the first page from August '09; not sure if this means the pool is open 10-10, or if they mean the lifeguards are there at that time. If someone knows more, don't hesitate to contradict me, lol.;)

thanks for the pool info! I love that pic. showing the sign at the pool, its neat to see all the days info. posted!!

I'm shocked there are no movies. THey just thad them two weeks ago. It was also on our itinerary they leave in the hotel room.

I am happy to report I was misinformed about the movies on the beach. The night I asked there was no movie because of the weather. So when I was told there was no movie, it was just that night. A case of miscommunication. KCmike, glad you questioned my information!

So campfire each night at 7:30 and movie at 9:00!

The GF is crowded (as are the parks) but everything is clean and beautiful. We were at the Contemporary last night for dinner and the Grand Concourse was packed with people and kids running around. It makes you appreciate the large lobby and beautiful grounds of the GF.

britfish - you're welcome!:goodvibes

Jungle Cruiser - thanks for the clarification on the movies. I'm glad they are back!:thumbsup2

I agree, the GF is an oasis of calm and relaxation - except during Christmas, when the lobby is packed with people!;)

Great. They are a lot of fun I must admit. We ended up watching one and just appreciated the quiet and ambiance of watching a movie on the beach. Good times.
