The most desire rooms on the Dream and Fantasy

Here's hoping the new ships will have more accessible rooms or even all accessible rooms so none have to be "saved".
Making all rooms HA would do away with the split bathrooms, as they aren't nearly large enough to be made HA,

Engine noise and Cabanas noise. It did not bother us though.
It was pretty much the same when we booked 10166. Reports of deck noise from Cabanas. We never noticed that much because well we were there too :) but the open area where chairs are moved around are more less over the veranda

There are non-handicapped 8A oceanview rooms on decks 5 & 6 forward thst some people call "mini-suites". Those are worth checking out if you're sailing with a party of 3 or less.

we recently had the rooms on deck 6. The extra room was nice, but there is no dresser and very little room for storage other than closet. I only had a 3 door closet instead of 4 door. No split bathroom and some have only shower, no tub. I switched my room for my daughter so that the kids had the tub. It was nice, but don’t think we would do it again. The TV was in a weird location and only the people in the bed could see it, not the bunks.

Yes, I've never booked one of those oddly-shaped rooms because of the TV position. We like watching Disney On-Demand together. And a bathtub is a must have for us, as well.

We have room 5020 booked for an upcoming trip. It's an 8A with two large windows, a wall most of the way down the center of the room with the bed on one side and an extra long desk, sofa and chair on the other side with closet doors that swing out and a single bath. The pictures show a very large room; mini suite without any poles. There only seem to be, maybe, four of them.

My wife and I stayed in that exact room last spring. We had friends on that same cruise. In the evenings they would meet us at our room for a drink before dinner. It was nice to have the larger room.

We are booked in 8A for our upcoming (first!) cruise. After looking at deck plans and photos of some of the rooms, DD and I decided we preferred the rooms with two windows (the mini suite) to a veranda room. There are only two of us, and the lack of a split bath is completely unimportant to us. We’ve never been on a cruise so we have no idea what a split bath is...and there are only two of us; we’re accustomed to sharing one bathroom on vacation. I actually wanted the room that was “open” as to the kind with the half-dividing wall, and apparently this room type isn’t too popular. I booked rather late in the game for our cruise, and the only 8A rooms available were the open (no divider) rooms, so that worked out well!

The port excursions and onboard activities didn’t work out so well. On my check-in day, I was online right way when it opened and hurried through all of the steps only to discover that most of what we wanted to do was unavailable. I’m pretty disappointed given this is a rather expensive vacation. I was at least able to get a Pirate’s League reservation for DD. She’d prefer that to meeting Anna and Elsa (luckily she’s not into the other princesses anyway)). I was able to get a reservation for only one for parasailing at Castaway Cay. We can’t go without a second spot, though, so I will keep checking for cancellations. DD wanted to do this so much. I really wish Disney would hold a few spots back for things like this for first time cruisers.

When you get onboard, you can check with the Port Adventures desk, as there may be some open spots on things for you to reserve (spots held back for onboard bookings sometimes, or last-minute cancellations). We've gotten things that we wanted once onboard, and other times, we have cancelled things, which opened up spots for others. (Can cancel once onboard up to 24-hrs of the said event with no penalty). You might get what you want after all!

What was is about 10166 that made it desirable?
The large aft verandahs are very popular, and this is dead center so with the curve of the ship it is extra large.

Drawbacks are soot from the smoke stacks that gets blown back, and noise from being directly underneath the buffet (plus engine noise/vibration common to all aft cabins).

yes, there are only 4 of them with the wall divider and on deck 5. Keep in mind that they only sleep 3. My daughter wanted to book them instead of the pole rooms, but are a family of 4. Next time we’ll try those, but split the kids into 2 rooms. We’ve done connecting 8A double port hole rooms on deck 6. Not all rooms have. Tub. Only 2 with tubs on deck 6. The others all have shower only.

I have 10166 booked right now. I chose it after reading some positive reports about it compared to other aft cabins. There are still a bunch of aft cabins available on this sailing. 8684, 10158 and several others are still available. For the aft cabins, do you think 10166 is a good choice or would you recommend something different?

We almost got an aft veranda but the soot thing is why we decided against it. That and the solid wall instead of the railing with clear plastic between the rails like on normal veranda (so you have to be standing to see ocean and cannot sit back and watch ocean go by like in normal veranda. I read a trip report saying that they really only cleaned it between cruises so the soot is heaver and more noticeable on a longer cruise than on like a 3 night.
