I'll go weeks and weeks without visiting Facebook. Then, there will be a plethora of status changes. One right after the other. This weekend, it started with something along the lines of "Lee Corso is a nut", which I was proved right about when the University of South Carolina toppled the Crimson Tide. It followed with Nick Saben's comment about being beaten by (the real) USC. Then a comment about the laundry (which is, by the way, folded, thankyouverymuch) and the Pirates of the Caribbean marathon on USA.
But none of the statuses on Facebook match this one:
"I wonder if I'll ever settle on a resort. 5 minutes til 10 I'm on the phone with Disney Travel Company changing resorts yet again. Back to French Quarter. The beignets are calling my name."
Yes, ladies and maybe one gentleman, I have changed yet again.
Here's why:
I thought briefly of booking a flight down. Southwest's rates are right now around $275 for a round trip.
Then I realized something: I don't want to be without my car.
And I realized something else: I really don't want to stay at POP Century.
And this time, it's not a resort snob thing. It's a, "I'm going to be by myself and I don't want to be at a big resort" thing.
Sure, the rooms are newer at POP. The TV is better.
But, at POFQ, the resort is smaller, the food court better (beignets, anyone), and I feel closer to home. I look back at my pictures last year of the Sassagoula River and I realize, I want to take the boat over to DTD for brunch at Wolfgang Puck Express. I want a lazy walk of the Sassagoula River. I want a beignet without worrying about getting somewhere else because the beignets are right within reach early in the morning.
So, I'm back there. At home.
And I guess driving won't be so bad.
