The Laundry Will Be Folded When I Finish Booking ADRs updtd 11/6Never Dones!

Love your title! For me it's "I'll clean up the kitchen when I'm done reading trip reports!"

I think a solo trip sounds awesome. We're taking our first family trip to POP in Nov, but I've already mentally started planning an anniversary trip and another family trip. Now I've got a third type to dream about!

Michal

Hee, hee. Dream on, honey! I did a solo trip last Christmas and enjoyed it so much. I can't wait for another one this Christmas.

You're welcome!!!!

I wouldn't think of the pool either in Dec but when we were there last year it was sooo hot! It was in the low 80s I think!? The year before that, we were there the same weekend and it was freezing..in the low 60s so I guess you never know!? I guess the fact that there isn't a hot tub would keep the crowds down a bit..which to me still is sucky :(

Yeah--I can see that. I think it turned cold last December right after I got there. There are photopass pictures of me in shorts and capris on the first day, but not after that. By dinner that night (the first day) I was in a pair of brown pants.

I admit it. I'm a card carrying member of The Life, Times, Fantasies and Men the Babnana's Lust Over While Trying to Commit to a Resort thread. Previous it was "Tagless Disers Unite", then "Formerly Tagless Unite" Now it's just crazy.

Apparently none of us can decide on a resort.

For me, it was, Do I stay at Pop Century or do I move over to my love, Port Orleans-French Quarter. Is a stay at POFQ really worth an extra $400?

Many people have made the pro/con list. Whatever. I had two things on my mind:

1. Beignets
2. The boatride to Downtown Disney and the yummy noms over there.

Yes, both reasons were directly because of food. :rotfl2:

Two days ago, I called and changed my reservation from POP to POFQ. I dropped down to 1 day base tickets, because I'm getting APs when I get there.

Today, I called and paid my deposit. Plus a little more. I also made my room request for POFQ: top floor, courtyard view.

Within 5 minutes of paying the deposit, my cell phone rings. I answer the phone. "I would like to speak to Ms. ________."

My reply: "Speaking"

His comment: "This is the fraud department at Wachovia. We noticed a few minutes ago that a sizable purchase was placed on your Visa Check Card. Can you confirm a purchase to the Walt Disney Travel Company?"

Me: "Yes, sir, I can."

Him: "Thank you. Is there anything I can help you with regarding your account?"

Me: "No sir. Thank you for calling me."

Him: "Thank you for banking with Wachovia, a division of Wells Fargo."

:confused3 Apparently, looking back at bank statements, I've never made a purchase of over $300 on my card (unless I called ahead) and that alerted the bank to fraud. Which seems right.

Either way, at least the bank is looking out for me. :rotfl2: And they must not want me to send my money to Walt.

haha...after all that I typed about POP..geez!!! haha.

I don't blame you though. Every single day I keep thinking, we should have upgraded to a moderate for in Oct with my friends. I keep thinking..POR/FQ = 2 sinks, fridge, pool towels, hot tubs, just as good food, and the boat isn't that much of a deal breaker but it's a nice feature. Now that I'm talking about it, I'm getting mad that we didn't just switch.

Of course we'll make the most of where we are and hey, maybe my friend will come through with a free upgrade..she seems to know how to make magic haha.

Don't ask me to help you. I'm apparently an enabler. :rolleyes1

I may still have to go back to POP if the dunage does not work out. But for right now. . .

THAT's my girl. LOL!

:rolleyes1 I pleade the fifth. I won't incriminate myself. And I'll step away from the beignets very slowly.

Nommerific. Nommerful. Nommerous.

Ohh. . .creativeamanda likes! :thumbsup2

Yeah, it's there. I can see it out of the corner of my eye. While I sit here, watching College Gameday with my right eye and glance at my trip notebook with my left one, I am reminded that the laundry is there, ever mocking me. There's so much I need to do today: laundry, lesson plans, and dishes. None of them have the draw right now that the Disney binder does with all of those printed out menus for me to peruse. Those touring plans waiting to be written. The Disney box which needs to be sorted.

But what does one do at three months out? Do they do the laundry real quickly to make sure plenty of time is there for the trip planning?

Or does one do the trip planning knowing that one can watch movies tonight while folding the laundry?

For now, I'm content to revel in the fact that I'm 3 months away from Disney, college football is in its second week, and the first eigth of school is over. I'll decided what else to do.

Later.

. . .and breakfast, and lunch and snacks in between.

This trip I knew once again that I would move heaven and earth to have the deluxe dining plan. It truly is the plan with the most flexibility. Three meals a day, any combination. I've already changed ADRs ten million times, but as of today, this is what I have:

12/18: dinner at Citrico's

12/19: breakfast at Kona, dinner at California Grill

12/20: dinner at Plaza (which I am most likely going to change)

12/21: Candlelight dinner package with Trace Adkins (uh, I men, at Chefs de France)

12/22: lunch at Via Napoli; dinner at Artist Point

12/23: dinner at Narcoossee's

12/24: breakfast at Crystal Palace

Of these, I have never been to:
1. Citrico's, but I'm going because TarzansKat has been pluggin this one forever to me
2. Kona Cafe for breakfast. Had a yummy dinner there in June.
3. California Grill
4. Plaza. And I'm thinking of changing this one to a Downtown Disney dinner, like Raglan Road.
5. Via Napoli. But the pizza looked intriguing, and frankly, here in North Carolina, there is not much good pizza to choose from
6. Artist Point

So 6 out of 9 locations I have never visited. Top that off with the fact that I am planning on two new CS locations: Wolfgang Puck Express and Tangierene Cafe, and I may be in for some sort of culinary surprise.

Either way, it'll be new experiences all around!

wow such a great list for new restaurants!!! We love artist point when we went there last Dec! My mom, dad, and I all had the salmon and it was the best we've ever had. I forget what my brother got it but it was some odd animal meat of sorts but he loved it as well. Our service was fantastic and it seemed like we were there for forever and I guess it was nearly 2 hours that we were there for but we ordered apptez, drinks, entree, and dessert so it was a lengthy process!!

Kona is good for breakfast. Everyone raves about the Tonga Toast but I thought it was too sweet for me when my friends all got it and I was glad I went with the nut pancakes!

Cali Grill is good as well! I havent eaten dinner there in years but I went with a friend for drinks, apptz, and desserts one of our days off and we had 2 appetz pizzas, 1 glass of wine each and dessert and it was $50 each. I guess you can say it was a special treat!

I am very much looking forward to Artist Point! I am hoping for a great meal. I keep looking at the menu, which I expect will be a bit different in December, but the pulled rib appetizer seems to usually be on the menu, along with some sort of beef, so I am sure I'll be okay. What really has caught my eye is the desserts. I love coffee and want to try the coffee duo.

I don't think I would do the Tonga Toast at all. The thought of cooked banana really doesn't appeal, but the pancakes do.

Cali Grill is what I look forward to the most.

You know, I'm sorry but you're going to need your own support thread for incessant changing of ADRs......the other one is for resorts.:thumbsup2

:rotfl:

Yeah yeah, we all have our demons to battle, I know.

HOW do you do two TS meals in ONE day??! Can't wrap my brain around that one. Unless you just sort of pick and sample. I don't think I could do it! But the places you have picked out (albeit at the moment...:upsidedow) do sound wonderful and yummy.

I think my problem is I like changes. I also will spend time on the restaurant boards and decide, hey, that looks good.

The day I have Cali Grill and Kona, Kona is like at 7:30am and Cali Grill is at 7pm. When I have 11 hours between meals, it's easier. In the case of Via Napoli and Artist Point, I'm only going to do pizza and a drink (so really more of a cs feel to the meal), but again the reservation is for an early early lunch, and a 6pm dinner.

I don't know that I will be changing all that much now. I would love to stay on the website, changing around, but they also extended free dining, and it's harder to get something. If anything, I'll cancel Plaza if I can get California Grill that night and that will spread out more of my meals.

Also, at the signature meals, I don't clean my plate. I sample what I can, but I try not to eat everything, because I'm there for the experience, which can last up to 2 hours depending on where I am.

Hi creativeamanda!
What part of North Carolina are you from? I'm in Greenville, NC. Hope you have a wonderful trip. I will be going on my first solo trip November 28-December 5. I love Disney and I love going to Disney with my husband and son but I can't wait for my time. I'm sure I will miss them but somehow I will just have to survive!

:woohoo:great upates! Enjoying you PTR!

I know where you are! I got my Master's from East Carolina. I live between Lumberton and the South Carolina line. I can actually walk to SC if I wanted to, lol. This trip is my second solo and I loved my first.

I just have to say, in my best Legomom impersonation:

creativeamanda
at Pop Century
Dec 18-24
Deluxe Dining
7 day park hoppers

So, the price comes out to be only $8 less because I'm uping the park tickets to the 7 day hoppers. I'm still planning to get Annual Passes, but I think this way, I'll spread out the payments. Instead of plopping down about $450 when I get there, it'll be $200.

And what's to say I can't still have beignets on a day I sleep in? I can see it now--take the bus to DTD in the morning to shop. Then take the boaty-boat to POFQ for some beignets and then the bus to Epy-cot for some pastries in France right before my date with Trace Adkins (I mean, my Candlelight Processional dinner package).

Hmmmm. . .Maybe I should re-examine those dining reservations. . .:rolleyes1

I missed that you started this, but I'm here now. I'm going back to catch up:goodvibes
