The, "I'll pose for pics & sign autographs" B-day tour! WEEERE BAAACK!!!!

Okay - we have finalized and re-finalized enough to make me want to be a lil bit sick in the stomach...spent more time with Dis today than Tigger and after 3 dissconnections and multiple second gueses...here is the absolute guaranteed last...

Spending 1 1/2 days at Disney's VERO BEACH to be exact!!! Ocean View Inn please and thank you...1 night cash - ($146 with my discount and free using 10 points for the other...I called directly trying to book it and see how much cheaper it is through the DVC and that answer my thrifty nickled friends is $100!! :yay: ) I will be batting my baby browns and pleading for a one bedroom...since I know they have openings...any suggestions on the best approach for this with someone who was successfull please...
if you had the manager throw you out...

share your stories but do not be offended if I do not take your advice!

We get into Orlando at 11:30 p.m. and then have a 2 hour drive to Vero. Ugh...but it beats moving hotels again... We will swim, body board and probably freeze...all day Friday and Saturday until about 4 p.m. and then head to Orlando (hotel site TBD) for an 8pm dinner with my weight loss thread, sexy mamas! (Kids are actually excited to meet the crazy ladies I talk about!)

After sleeping in the rental van Saturday night (okay maybe I am kidding...but maybe not:confused3 ) we will head to OKW to drop luggage and get id cards etc... for our 2 bedroom villa!!!

Then the itenerary is as follows:

Most meals will be eaten in the resort room since we have the full kitchen..and are trying to be concious of money...:cool2: yet do you notice how stealthfully I am adding little bits...:rolleyes1

Tues 9th - Bush Gardens

Wed 10th - AK 9-8 Meals TBD

(Adding DDP for 2 nights on the Poly so we can eat out and enjoy...and save...since Candelight Processional is $54 a person anyway)

Fri 12th - Stay at Poly MK view room (please help me by giving me room location to request) Epcot for whole day with lunch at Le Cellier and dinner at Chefs de France for Candelight Processional....plan is to tell kids we are going to see the Poly dec's after...and let them think we are staying at the All Star Sports when we pack up in the morning...:thumbsup2

Okay that's it I think - has anyone rented sprites before??? Is it worth it? Thinking of renting one and having Treyner take Baylor half the time and Carsyn the other half...it's $135 plus tax for the hour...

Okay all you stalkers...I am asking for help..

again...

#1 What longhouse to ask and room for a MK view at the Poly...
#2 If you have gotten a cake before from the GF bakery..what is your favorite - gonna get a soccer ball with mickey ears on it for him...

your itinerary looks great! you will be at MVMCP the same night as us...there are a few other DISers planning a meet that night...check out this link http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1944667

you will also be at AK the same day as us:woohoo:

Yeah! Hopefully we can say hi... we just chamnged the dates of the MVMCP - but we will be at AKI the same day!!

I am very frusterated with Disney right now....

When I boooked the Poly stay I was told that I could add dining whenever...now...I am told that I cannot add dining because I have tickets with the no experation dealio I got 2 years ago..plus new tickets already paid for...if I do not add one day at the park tickets to my reservation - I cannot have the dining plan - it is no longer a stand alone that can jsut be added to a room...WTH?:headache: :headache: :headache:

That is just sooo stupid I can't take it....so I am being punished because I bought tickets ahead of time guaranteeing my stay again with Disney.

I just sent an e-mail to the complaints/guest relations dept after hours on the phone...hopefully we will hear something positive...my other option is obviously paying cash...but the candelight procesional is $54 a person alone...who wants to pay for that???

Well my wayward compadres...it is time to buckle down and take this vacay planning seriously...

But first...a funny story...

My son Baylor tends to be a smart mouthed guy...actually they all are...but in different ways. They like to tell it like it is...

Treyner tends to ride his own coattails and give grief to those he deems less than his equal...esp. if it is his siblings...
Example....Last year for gender bender day at school...he wore his sister's clothes...including squeezing into her low hip rider jeans...:scared1: At dinner that night he was able to share with Carsyn that he was told..."nice @ss" more times in those jeans in one day then she ever was...:lmao: Sad part.totally true since the Carsynator is known for her plumber crack and her superb flatt booty in our home...she hates the fact the boys got the tall, lean body with a J-Lo booty...and her and I got more the Don Ho version. :confused3

Carsyn tends to be the mother hen at the home...pointing out what chores were not accomplished..regardless if her's was or was not...she is definetley the queen of her own castle...no vote from us...and she usually has anarchy amongst her lowly citzens...

But she is funny...and smart...and used to use her evils when Baylor was younger to get toys for her from his money...so she could save her's...like at Disney one year...he was bamboozled to think a pair of princess walkie talkies were just right up his alley...

And Carsyn is the fair moderator...she was just down playing with some younger cousins at a B-day party...and one who is 6...was playing Disney's Scene It game...with the kid cards...now this kid thinks he has to win alll the time at everything...and Carsyn came home denouncing his mother because she was giving all the answers to her son at the age of 6...Carsyn exclaimed the kid was always gonna be a spoiled brat unless he learned to play fair and win on his own merrit..."six schmix" she said! I told her she better not get into teaching at a nursery school..she said she loves kids..just not how some people choose to parent them! Snap!:cool2:

Then there was Baylor...he is the youngest - almost 13 and does tend to be a bit of a mouth...(ahemmm...not sure where he got that at all....:rolleyes1 :sad2: )

Last weekend the kids and their dad were heading to Iowa for the B-day party and stopped at Walmart in a small town area...Treyner...walks in sagging his jeans mid thigh, and turning his hat on sideways jsut to get a rise out of the local FFA, bib overall wearing Iowans...he does not dress or act like this but after 5 hours in a car...entertainment was calling...

Lots of laughs insued inside the store...including from one hot girl whom talked to Treyner - he introduced himself as T-Time with a few yo's dropped for emphasis..I guess she looked at him like he was her ticket out of the farm country and into the hood...then Carsyn let her into the fact that he was a white boy from Minnesota going to college for soccer and still sleeps with his stuffed animals for support (that last part is not true...I think  ) and Miss. "hey baby get me outta this town"....turned back towards her one toothed rodeo clown and left T-time in the dust...

But the best comes next...while Dip and Sh!t were busy arguing over the legetimacy of his street cred...Baylor and his dad had slipped out the front doors...

Now in our family..."Shootty" is a big thiing...sitting in the front is huge...to the point of elbows and tripping feet flying in the mad dash for the car...(I am a mom...only if no cars are around and we are parked way in the far lot away from pedestrians or old ladies on scooters)

Treyner was going to drive..so his spot was secure...their dad was in the back of the vehicle...so Carsyn came out..mad that Baylor had hopped in the front seat.

She plopped down in front of the car..put her bags on the hod of the car...protesting like she was a hippie in the 60's :hippie: and was not gonna budge till her seat was given up.....

This causes laughing from the car...no one takes her serious...

Treyner yells out the window to get inside before the locals catch wind that there is a new woman to bring into the community so when she is of marryin age...they all are not related no more....:bride:

Their Dad is laughing so hard he is not of any help...and then Baylor has to one up Treyner...by yelling out his window to the 99 year old woman just wanting to give Sam Walton her last dollar...
"umm..Maam...do you folks round these parts have a animal control department...cause we need someone with a big ole tranquilizer dart to remove that there rabid beaver on the front of our grill..."

He then faked a chaw spit which caused Treyner to get back out of the car...run back into Wally World to use the facilities...exept he forgot that his pants were still halfway down...and more cowboy-uped his run while trying to pull themback on his tukkkus...

Carsyn was on the ground rolling in laughter...picked up her bag and got into her rightful spot in the back...cause in our family...the one who gets dissed the worst...looses..and she knew she had no shot at redemption.

That's right...that's how we roll...making our own fun...and having fun with our own flaws...

New Trip News...
We are staying at Pop the night of the 6th in a preffered view which will be nice...and did confirm the Hyatt for the night of the 14th since it is in the airport and will be so convenient o just get out at the early flight...

I am re-doing my last post because I found a cheap car - from Avis $310 including tax for a luxury vehicle...Whooo Hooo!

I am begging each of you to send me a paragraph on

"What I wish I Knew When I was 18"

I am going to give it to Treyner for the trip as a surprise on the plane..and will take pics I promise...:upsidedow
I will also leave room on the pages that I put your paragraphs on for him to respond...he can reply with thoughts he has after reading them and then I will include them in the Trip Report.

SOOOOO Please...I need your help...please shoot me a couple of sentences or a favorite quote for an awesome 18th B-day!

Thanks!

Okay - yes this is crazy - I can't sleep...I made new ADR's last night..cause I think it is more financially beneficial to be on the reg dining plan while at OKW...which would carry over to Friday the 12th...instead of paying OOP for 6 meals and spending over $875...the dining plan would only be $765 for us for 5 days worth of meals (4 people I am responsible for) plus since there is that last day carry over = my candelight processional at $54 a piece will be covered....

problem...can't switch O'hanna's at all and so will still be paying OOP at that location plus the few didning plans for the 14th - which we would have anyway somewhere else...

What is your faveorite rest not at a park? How bout Cape May Cafe??? Is it worth it if you are nota seafood lover which none of us are??? Is it good quality buffet or typical buffet food from the Lil Sizzler???

Thanks and goodnight! :cloud9:

We were booked at Cape May for dinner but after talking to friends and doing a bit of research, we cancelled. I have a friend that has been there a couple of times and he said that the seafood isn't all that great and that if you don't like seafood, forget it. I trust his judgement but I asked why they went back. Wanted to see if it was just a random bad experience the first time. :confused3 I'm not sure if that's any help.

Have you considered Todd English's Bluezoo? We went there for our anniversary in 2007. I was a bit skeptical but it turned out to be awesome.

Hi all,

I come to you today asking for prayers and all positive thoughts for my son Baylor.

He was at a friends house Halloween afternoon (they did not have school that day) following a sleepover the night before. Thursday evening they had had a bon fire in a fire pit and the next day when the mom left for work, the boys were given instructions to stay away from the fire pit. 3 thirteen year old boys do not listen well at anytime, they went down to it and the boy who lives at the house...decided to pour gasoline on the embers...trying to relight wood still left in the pit...

It flashed back towards him..he got scared...dropped the "bowl" of gas he held...and it flew all over Baylor who was standing to his right. The flame followed the gas and Baylors left leg started on fire...

He had jeans on and the fire actually went up under his pant leg. Baylor tried to pat it out with his left hand..then tried to roll it out and when that did not work...he jumped in a pool that was 10 yards away with water thank God still in it.

Over the next 1/2 hour the boys put him in a bathtub..called a neighbor who was a registered nurse and then I got the call...I was 1/2 hour away (they live out in the country) and in route...the neighbor let me know it was pretty bad..

We had an ambulance called and brought him to Regions Hospital in St. Paul which has one of the best burn centers in the United States.

Baylor did not cry that day exept when he was told he would not be playing hockey anytime soon and to miss trick or treating. They said he had severe 2nd degree burns and should heal on his own with no skin grafting. - He was so brave even in the bathtub that he had began to debris his own leg..cuting away loose skin. I think he was also in shock.

We were given state of the art silver patches that heal burns on his leg and silvadine cream for his burns on his hand that were not as deep. He was given the option to go home or stay. He wanted to go home.

Saturday morning he felt good - too good - but by afternoon the burns started to set in and yesterday we went back for a follow up.

When they unwrapped him it was obvious that he sustained some 3rd degree burns as well around his ankle - it looks like the gas pooled at the shoe line.

They are now not sure about skin grafting - they want to give it a week or 2 to see what his body can do on it's own. I have never seen that boy cry in my life as he did yesterday and today form the pain and the dvestation or realizing how bad it is. He has no skin left from the top of his foot/ankle to just below his knee cap on the front of his leg and the burn goes around the back as well... to mid calf.

They want him to excersize the foot an dleg so it does not stiffen while it heals and he just sits and screams from the pain whenever his leg even dangles downwards.

I am waiting a call from the docs again to decide if they want him to go inpatient at this point.

It is round the clock care right now and I am just trying to get as many book parties for Tupperware as I can so I can stay at home with him. I don't think I could leave him now if I wanted to. This is the hardest thing I think I have ever faced as a parent.

They doc's know about the trip and as of now...think he will be able to go - even if he needs grafting...

They say it will be a good motivator for him...now I just need to decide what to do about the trip....do I tell him about it and have him be involved in the planning - get him in on it to suprise the other 2 - or not tell him?

I am worried if we have to delay the trip he will be devestated and feel guilty...

Anyway - please pray for him...I need a miracle now more than ever in my life...and so does he...

Thanks -

Lurker here... Had to come out of hiding to say I will pray for your son, that is awful and I hope everything heals quick and as pain free as possible...

Thank you - still waiting for the doc's to get out of surgery to tell me what to do with him - so frusterating waiting and yet I am so glad it is not as bad as it could have been. He was so lucky and all I have to do is rememberthat - but at times it is difficult.

 OMG I just saw this.... Our thoughts and prayers are being sent your way.... Hopefully Baylor will be on the mend fast.

Maybe helping to plan will not only give him something to do while he recovers, but motivate him to work hard to get better!

Thank you - I agree - and if he is in the know of a special trip - he may feel a bit more grown up - which he needs that mentality to work through this -

I just broke down and bawled - first time I have since this whole thing...I think it is harder seeing your child go through pain than yourself dealing with it...I know I need to be strong for him...but it is hard...

I keep thinking of the trip and hope he feels well enough..we will be at Vero Beach and I doubt he will be able to get in the ocean...

There is so much to do to get ready to go and I am exhausetd

We need to check his temp every 2 hours ..move his leg every hour...pain meds every 3 1/2 hours...I feel like I am living by the clock an dgetting nothing done...

His pain meds make him so dizzy he can't move well and when he does move he cries so hard he sobbs to the point of not breathing...like a toddler...he is even having nightmares now about the accident...so sleep is not well either...

I hate this feeling...helpless..:sad1:

Hang in there Dawn. And in case you are needing a HUG - here it comes..... Maybe you need an extra one or two....

Oh, Dawn. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way for you and Baylor.

Thank you all for the prayers for Baylor... :lovestruc He had a pretty good day today and thinks he wants to try school for part of a day tom. Problem is that he still is in a lot of pain and I am not sure how much he is going to get accomplished on pain meds...plus he will need to use crutches and he has slept a lot of the days away since the burn...so I am not sure he will be able to be up all day and will tire easily...

I am also glad to report that the Holiday decorating has begun...and our house is lit...Treyner is busy and wants it all to be done by this weekend...I will post pics soon...

Have not told Baylor yet the trip is in Dec...I am feeling it out as I go...

Treyner did visit Firt Lewis again and he has been given the green light...will be playing goalie for the #2 D2 school in the nation for soccer...he is thrilled....

Carsyn and I need to hit the Y hard...lessthan 30 days before we go and I would like to drop at least 15-20 more before...ugh...and when I stress..I eat chocolate so I am up 2 pounds..but at least it is not 10 right!

So we have made more food ressies...added the dining plan to the OKW stay...need to get all that info updated here as well...so much to do and so little time...:scared1:

I am so sorry to hear about the horrible events that you and your family are going through. My sincere sympathy to you all. I cannot imagine having to see my babies going through so much pain. It must be so hard for you. I will definitely be sending healing thoughts your way. I hope that they will help.

I hope things can return to normal ASAP. Kids are certainly miraculously good at healing.

Okay - so I have internet at the hospital and am gratefull to let you all know what is going on...

Baylor's leg started oozing today through the bandages and so we headed to the burn unit again to get re-bandaged....

The look of the nurses face was enough to say it all when she unwrapped his leg...

The doc came in and confirmed it was "not going in the right diretion" and thus the need for surgery tom at 11am

He wil have skin taken from his upper thigh and it will be taken off in several layers so they can use it in sheets to cover his whole burn area on his leg.

When Chad was burned in 1990 they put his skin through a mesh like siv in order to stretch it and that created a waffle pattern on his grafted skin..

Baylor's will not have that look...simple sheets of skin...but they will graft the whole burnt area....not just the few spots of 3rd degree because it would create more of an odd pattern on his leg to have some grafted, some new growth and his original skin...

This way it will only have a fine, white, line like a surgical incession for a scar and that will just be on the outer edges where they attach the graft...

From what I understand the donor site will be very painful..takes 10 -14 days to heal...leg should be okay in about 2 weeks as well...

He will have to wear compression socks on his leg for about a year to make sure the skin strengthens...no contact sports for many months...so no phy ed...no snowboarding and no hockey..but maybe soccer this late spring...summertime...

Literally it will be a year of progress before this is going to be mended...he will be here in the hospital for at least 5-7 days...laying still for at least 4...no flowers or live plants on this floor...we are seeing some kids with their whole heads wrapped...so he is understanding how "fortunate" (his word choice) he is....

Pastor was here earlier...I think that helped Baylor more than anything...

Hi Dawn,

My thoughts go out to you and your family. I know this must be a difficult time for you.

This summer I went through something similiar with my mother. She had an infection in her back and it took multiple surgeries to get it out. To close up where they went in they had to do a skin graft from her leg. This time was an emotional rollacoaster. I can't even imagine what it must feel like when it is one of your own children.

All I want to say is hang in there because better days are ahead. The next couple of weeks are going to be very rough on you and Baylor. In the end he will recover and bouceback. He is a kid and can be tougher than you think. Two last pieces of advice would be to make sure he takes them up on the pain meds. The donor site is probably going to end up hurting more than the burns. Second, make sure he does the rehab and exercises!

Best wishes!
Ken

I am so sorry to hear about the bad turn. I hope that the progress and healing is more rapid in the coming days.
