Anyone know what happens with Amex if you agree to take a retention offer but then they increase the annual fee? I am considering requesting a retention offer but I don't love the rumored fee increase.

Are you thinking about a retention offer because your AF just posted or is coming up? If AF just hit, then you're locked in for the year and it would be safe to take the retention. If it's coming up, then I'm not sure.

Still waiting on my CIU match SM, but DPs are out already.

Doesn't look good for CIC, probably due to tiered SUB and longer MSR. 2 no match DPs on r/churning, 3 on DoC.

2 match DPs for CIU, 1 was approved 45 days ago. DP for no match with approval 8/25 is weird. No match for 7/5 is not surprising, so cutoff might be around 2 months.

When did you get your CIC? DH just got one Monday and I've SM'ed for a match. We'll see but all these denials doesn't give me much hope. I'd hope within the same week they'd match but who knows.

I'm kicking myself because I got the same offers, took the AU, navigated away because I wanted to check something, then the upgrade offer disappeared! Did chat, rep gave me a link, but the link didn't have the offer, so they told me to call. Called but they don't see the offer.

Ugh. Hopefully it comes back. But it's a lesson in how fast offers can disappear. And that taking an AU offer can apparently trigger an upgrade offer to disappear!

Quoting myself. The upgrade offer came back!!

When it disappeared, I tried 2 browsers and app, all gone. Just checked app again and it was back. I usually prefer to do things on PC, but I wasn't going to chance it again! Quickly took the offer and took some screenshots. What a rollercoaster!

I hope you and your mom have a wonderful trip. We cruised on Princess in Alaska and are looking at booking a Panama Canal cruise with Princess. I liked some things better with Disney and some things better with Princess but we have enjoyed all of our cruises except for the one with Carnival.

We also cruised Alaska with Princess a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Trying Celebrity for the first time in Nov. for a Med cruise.

Leaving for NY today to meet my mom. We sail out of Brooklyn tomorrow. First stop is Newport, then Boston, Portland, and a few stops in Nova Scotia. Used URs for the cruise and flight and my Hilton FNC for one night at the Hilton Brooklyn. I'm a little nervous sailing Princess after eight Disney cruises, but I'm sure we'll be good.

Just go in with the right expectations and you'll enjoy it more. Don't expect Disney levels of service or food. Princess is fine but not the cruise line they used to be. We fell in love with cruising on Princess ships 27 years ago and was blown away by the food and service. These days we would probably rate them on par with Norwegian and Royal Caribbean.

We did a similar cruise on the Majestic Princess last month. We enjoyed it, but noted several areas where the service was not what we expected. Nonetheless, we had an easy going attitude and didn't stress over the small annoyances. We especially enjoyed the Thermal Suite and spent over an hour in there every day.

We have now done almost 30 cruises across various cruiselines, and whilst some were better than others, we have enjoyed every one. Hope you have a great time. Bon Voyage!!!

I have an AMAZING rate through Alamo for next year via Costco. Im definitely not updating anything if they ask because its less than $200 for a week with a different location return.

I have used Alamo exclusively for many years, and I've booked through Costco the last few years. I have never found a better rate than Alamo through Costco. I love that they give you the Alamo reservation number so you can add it to your acct in the Alamo app.

ETA: Booking through Costco also gets you an extra driver free.
