Speaking of Fantasy servers. Has any had Carlos? I think he's from the Dominican republic, we had him last year on the fantasy last October and want to request him, can't remember his last name tho.

We had Freddy on the Fantasy in March. My kids loved him (as did we). I wouldn't hesitate to request him again next time we sail on the Fantasy.

If you booked it yourself then call Disney Cruise Line and make the request direct. If you used a travel agent then you would tell the agent your requests and they will bring it up Disney for you.

I actually asked Ashang about moving on up to head server, and he stated that he was not interested because the job (as he described it) is 95% dealing with complaints and problems. No chance to shine, and none of the good vibes and warm fuzzies that the lead server gets.

I don't know the policy on servers reporting cash tips, but I wonder if he makes more money than the average head server when you factor in those tips passed to him literally "under the table".

Not sure if you have sailed recently but wanted to share that on our recent Fantasy sailing (November 9-16) Ashang told us that he has requested a switch to the Wonder! He said he wanted to experience Alaska. He told my kids to "come find me on the Wonder and there will be more magic and fun!". Hopefully we will be able to do that in the future!

Well, it just so happens that I am sailing on the Wonder for the first time in February! I hope his transfer request is fulfilled by then.

We requested Ashang on our July cruise. Hoping we get him. We weren't super happy with who we had last July It's so disappointing to us because we really like to connect to our server. We had the same one three times on the wonder, and although he is not with DCL anymore, we are facebook friends.

Unless that person was misinformed, you're not going to get Ashang, unfortunately.

All of them were good, but none were Ashang-level "We have to have this person the next time we sail!" Yansen was close, though.

One thing I really did appreciate - no one gave the "excellent" speech. Yes, they all asked, more than once, if the food and service were to our liking. However, there was absolutely no brow-beating about the surveys or how important it was that we gave the dining team nothing but "excellent" ratings.

I am sad to hear this but too hope he moved on to better things for he and his family. I have to admit that we saw a real change in him on our November sailing. He seemed overworked and unhappy. There were glimpses of the Ashang we had experienced before but something was definitely amiss. When he said he was requesting a transfer to the Wonder I was hopeful that would happen for him and that maybe he would be happier on that ship. I hope there is not something more to the story like a health issue, for example. Thanks for letting us know @squirk.

Last year you recommended Ashang to us and we requested him. So amazing!! Not sure any other will compare now! Going on the Magic next month and will have to lower my expectations I think

I'm not sure who you had, but we had Oscar and Jesus on the Magic this past September and they were phenomenal! We enjoyed our servers on the Fantasy and they took great care of us, but they didn't compare to Oscar and Jesus!

Admittedly, I have not had Ashang as a server, so I have no idea what he is like. However, what I found on that Magic is that the entire crew find that ship to be special, since it is the original, and they are the epitome of Disney Magic. Our server on the Magic was amazing (Nikola, but he was moving to Palo after our sailing). Our server this year on the Fantasy (Ronaldo) was amazing as well, and in talking with him, we found out he used to be on the Magic, and has been trying to get back to the Magic, because he misses that original ship, Disney Magic mentality.

In other words, I don't think you need to lower your expectations for the Magic. Have a great cruise!

I feel the same way about the Magic. I've been on twice, and many years apart, and every time the cast is phenomenal! I have yet to hit the Dream or Wonder, but so far my Magic experience always trumps the one on the Fantasy. I come away feeling like I really am friends with some of the cast! If you haven't sailed the Magic, I highly recommend it!

Same here. We're going again in September and our family was pretty disappointed when we were on the Fantasy in June.
