Well, I tried that this afternoon. DS4 was napping, and DS8 was supposed to be cleaning his room (I think he was playing, or doing anything to avoid actually cleaning. ) He got caught up in watching something on his computer, I think, so I watched the Manchurian Candidate.

The ride home from MHT was terrible. Right when we got on the 5fwy, they had closed it off due to construction. They forced us onto the 91 fwy where there was traffic as well. Then they forced us off of the 91 fwy (also due to construction) and we went through surface streets for a bit. I followed all the signs that says FWY Detour and it took us to the 110, which led us to the 101 fwy which split to the 170 which turns back into the 5fwy. I got home at almost 2am.

oh that's horrid!

We would have got lost without our GPS.. we used it to get around everywhere last year.. funny though.. we hardly ever use it here

If it had more updates (wihout buying the maps-- UGH!) we might use it more to find certain palces that we have forgotten. Like we always forget which bridge we take out of downtown St Paul to get to the Latino neighborhood and find our fave deli.. mmmm tamales!

I couldn't recall the exact name of the store, did a search on the GPS and it gave me all sorts of junky places and not what I wanted.

But if I know the adress it works just fine.

My older sister used her cell phone and used Google Maps. It automatically finds your location and tells you where you are and what freeways are nearby. I also listened to KNX1070 to hear traffic reports

I would say that parts of Ironman are fine, but many of the scenes would not be suitable for a 4 yr old.

War scenes, people getting shot, swearing..

There is one scene where a father is seperated from his son and wife.. he gets beaten and about to be dragged off to fight for the militia. Meanwhile the young biy is watching and sobbing/ screaming for his dad before Ironman steps in to save the day.. too intense for an 8 yr old to handle and not something you would want a 4 to see.

Miracle at St. Anna was definitely not appropriate for small children. I don't know why that mother and her teenage daughters and a woman who appeared to be the grandma, would bring 2 small children to see this film. They were definitely 5 and under and shouldn't have been there.

There was a scene where the Nazis killed a bunch of people and there was a baby girl crying and her mother was dead. One Nazi soldier walked up to the child and stabbed her (they didn't show it thank God!) but that's not appropriate for a small child to see!

Thanks, G. I remember the gist of the review, but not WHY the reviewer said it was not appropriate. DH was inclined to just let them watch anyway (since I couldn't come up with anything specific) but I said I wanted to find more reviews first. He pouted.

yeah, what is up with taking lil guys to adult movies??

Get a freaking sitter.. can;t afford one? then you don't see a movie in theater. rent and watch when they go to bed.. I don't understand why people like to torture kids, and other movie goers, that way.

I only remember some parts of Ironman but reviewing it first doesn't hurt and I think it's a great idea.

My neighborhood friend watched the first Star Wars movie (Episode IV) last weekend, and her kids (DD8 and DD10) loved it; they knew we're fans, and she asked if we had the others, and we did, so I let her borrow them. I told her I didn't remember anything terribly scary about those first three movies (IV - VI), but I distinctly remember the very disturbing end of the last movie (Episode III); DH watched it in a theater (filled with children, by the way) and I remember thinking "there is no freakin' way I'd let a child watch this!"

hmm, ohhh and the reason he invented Ironman.. right at the beginnng of movie is to escape from this militia group-- beating, torture scenes, surgery by someone who helps him, etc..

My boys are at an age where it's getting harder to say no. We just worry about nudity/ sex , my N (12) will walk out if it's something he doesn't like. Hard to tell a 15 yr old "no" if all there may be is fleeting half nude images.. we just tell him to close his eyes.

Wow, I just saw on the news that Miley Cyrus celebrated her b-day early at DL today. 5,000 people paid $250 to celebrate with her and the proceeds go to a charity.

Now this explains why one CM said this weekend would be insanely crowded. He asked if I would be at the park this weekend and I said no, just for MHT and he said it would be insanely packed but didn't say why. Then he said: "You should come on Monday. The park will be dead!"

My bf and I have the day off tomorrow. It's been a relaxing weekend for me and I was able to sleep in!

We are going to the paint shop tomorrow. My bf is having his bike painted a different color. I think he's nuts!

I didn't like the ending for that either. It's not one of our faves.

I know he was suppose to become evil, but I think the actor pulls it off as whiney rage and then just sick.. YUCK. There was something lacking in the delivery.
