DAY 1

I was up at 6.am even though we did not leave till 7.50am, DD got up too when she heard I was up, we got dressed and had some toast and a drink and still had an hour till my Dad came to collect us, so I went on the Disboards to read some trip reports which led to me getting over excited and my DD telling me to calm down. I checked the flight sates and saw that the flight was delayed however no point it worrying about it as there is nothing we can do, my Dad picked me up with my Mum at 7.45am and we were at the Airport by 8am, we only live about 3 to 4 miles from the Airport so the journey does not take long. We had checked in online the day before so we just needed to drop of our bags and get our boarding passes printed, bag drop only had a small queue with one family in front of us however the check in queue was massive and a Virgin employee said that it was a good job we checked in online as the flight was full and the queues very busy. After we dropped our bags off we went straight through security, my 5 year old DD got picked to be searched, and the poor thing was scared however I calmed her down and told her it was okay. Her bag then got chosen to for an extra search which I guess was a coincidence as they did not know who the bag belonged too.

We then had a coffee from star bucks and brought magazines from WH Smith.
The flight was delayed for 2 hours when we eventually took off, the flight was fine, we watched a film and DD watched some of the kids TV and did colouring. The food was not very good however I ate it as it was something to do; DD only ate the ginger bread man and sweets as the main meal was pasta and she hates pasta.

We landed at about 4.00pm local time and got through immigration quickly however we had a panic when one of the suitcases did not turn up on the conveyor belt, we eventually located it on the upper class belt. After going through the monorail and second luggage collection we got the bus the POR and got checked in.

POR was a lovely resort and we had a room in Manor Oak, just across the river from the pool and food court, it was a lovely location and I thought it was a lovely location and thought the room was nice, however my mum annoyed me by saying “is this it, I thought it would be better” as my mum only paid a small amount towards the holiday, I felt she should not be complaining as I had saved hard to pay for the holiday. We then went to the food court and we brought the refillable mugs, we were then tired so went back to the room and fell asleep at 8pm.

I know the feeling about your mums comment. We went to POR when it was Dixie Landings and loved it so much. It was even better than I imagined it to be.
