I have over the years stayed at all the resorts including DL. IMO after being there so many times I only look at it as a place to rest at night as long as its clean. I consider POP to be a gem! I would rather spend my other vacation money on DDP at WDW or a cruise. The money I'm saving on this next 10 day trip will be a big deposit on a 14 nt, Panama Canal trip! JMO

I like the POP .............

we'll be at Pop in 73 days - my DH first time there (i've been at Pop before ) - he's looking forward to seeing all the icons, hearing the music and reading those "signs" along the lakeside walkway

Going solo to Pop in Feb . I've stayed at Pop before but this is my first solo trip and I am so excited!!

Our all girls trip is coming up in exactly one week! Me -DGM 60, DD 39, and DGDs 9+13 will be at POP 8/22-28. We booked our thru AAA and included the dining plan. Our flights (EWR-MCO) and our entire trip, including food, is completely paid for!! Yippee....all our Disney $ savings are for spending money!

PLUS THIS IS OUR FIRST TIME AT WDW AND THE POP.YIPEEEEEE:woohoo:

My first trip to WDW was last year. It took me 33 yrs to get there, and I am hooked! We had the dining plan, too. It is so nice not having to worry about money while you are there. Some others things that helped were gift cards and tip envelopes.

I made an envelope for every day we were there for mousekeeping. I put $5 in each one, then put notes on them about this being our first trip and that my son's birthday was that Thursday. We got towel animals every day and balloons and a card from MIckey and Minnie on his birthday. I also used those envelopes to ask for extra towels for the pools, and had no problem getting them. I made up some extra tip envelopes and carried with me for baggage handlers, etc.

I bought each of the kids gift cards from Disneyshopping.com. They can use them anywhere in the park, and are easy to carry. They knew when the money ran out, they were through buying!

And I also put quarters and pennies in stacks in old 35mm film canisters. (2q,1p, etc.) for the pressed penny machines. (Also did 5 quarters per day so they could have one pressed quarter in each park-very cheap souvenirs!)

I spent almost nothing extra while there, and we had a great time!

What buildings (or part of buildings) are now considered preferred?

We are staying at POP from 8/23-8/30 and we have 2 children (DS8 and DD4). They love to sleep on the floor. We are staying in a standard room. My question: Is there enough room for them both to sleep on the floor each night? I know we will probably have to move the table and some things, but is it still logistically possible? TIA:confused3

Hello,
I'm on page 27 of this thread, so I'm not sure if some one has already shared this information, but I figured I'd pass it along. According to www.intercot.com the Cheerleading/Dance competitions are as follows:

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
The National High School Cheerleading Championship
January 18-20, 2008

The College Dance Team National Championship
January 18-20, 2008

:rolleyes1 I'll post this on the January board to. Hope this helps with your planning! Does anyone else know about any conferences/competitions/etc... that might affect the crowd levels in the parks or at the Pop?

Karla,
Are you asking if 2 twin air mattresses could fit on the floor? If so, I don't know if you would be able to get them both flat on the floor. Perhaps the kids could take turns?

No, they don't like the matresses. They would just sleep on the floor with blankets and pillows(like sleepingbags). They think it's fun to do this. As a 38 year old woman, I can't understand it (besides the fact that I wouldn't be able to get up and how awful my back would be). But they like it. IF this is the case, would they fit in areas that we wouldn't trip over them if we had to get up and use the bathroom?? TIA

One could sleep near the door and the other in the opposite direction ...like an L - so one would be at the end of the bed by the door and the other would be on the other side of the bed behind the door. Make sense or clear as mud??

Did you see any photos of the POP roooms? DIS has some good ones.

Think it will work fine as long as you are kind of light travelers - if you are the bring along the kitchen sink traveler it will be tight, but still doable! :thumbsup2

Yes, One could sleep in between the two beds and one could sleep on the side of one bed by the door. My DS3 wanted to do that too on our last night last year. :thumbsup2

Agreeing the other posters. If you aren't using an air mattress, you would definitely have room on the floor for both. You have the area between the 2 beds, the area between a bed and the window, the area to inside of the tv (where the connecting door is)... any of those areas would keep them out of the way when heading to the bathroom. Well - maybe not the area between the 2 beds if you happen to be on the kids side. ;)

Have fun!

:cool1:

I had originally booked the Beach Club Resort but we ended up with 6 people in our party so I needed 2 rooms. I booked the POP after reading everyone's great reviews and I must say it was wonderful.

Everyone was so nice and efficient, from the Magical Express people at the airport to the hotel clerks at POP. :thumbsup2 I had called to request rooms close together and had water shipped to the hotel also. When we arrived, we only had to wait about 20 minutes for our rooms to be ready. They had games and activities going on in the lobby for the kids, so it really wasn't bad at all. We recieved adjoining rooms in the 50's building, right behind "Lady" from Lady and the tramp. I had paid for a standard room, but we had a lake view and a clear view of the Epcot fireworks everynight. We were also on the 4th floor, so very little, if any noise. The walks are not far at all, really from any building. We had the bowling pin pool next to us, but we used the kiddie pool and the splash area quite a bit also. The walk to the buses was not bad either. It was HOT!!!! everyday, so we would cut through the building to get where we were going.

The bus service was wonderful. We NEVER waited more than 5 minutes for a bus. I don't know if we just timed it right or were just extremely blessed. We took the buses and boats all over the parks and never had a problem. POP buses don't make any other stops unless you are going to Downtown Disney and then just at Blizzard Beach. We even had a character breakfast at Beach Club at 8am and made it with time to spare. I highly recommend that character breakfast by the way. Just take the bus to Epcot or MGM and take the boat to the Beach Club.

We did not spend a lot of time at the hotel, mainly sleeping because everyone was exhausted by the time we finished everyday, which is another reason not to spend a lot on a hotel. One other find that I made. I didn't make a lot of reservations because I hate being tied down, but on our last night we wanted something special. I had my planning guide with me and it recommended the Trails End restaurant at Fort Wilderness. I call reservations and they set us up for an hour later (We were at MGM). The guide said the bus ride could take a while, but the FW bus arrived quickly and we explained to the driver where we were going. FW is HUGE so don't get off at the first stop. He let us off right in front of the restaurant and the area was very nice. Old west theme with a playground and hay rides. The food was great also. We had grown tired of the same old food and FW puts out a nice and not expensive buffet. There is something for everyone. And while you wait, the kids can play on the playground and you can sit on the porch in the rockers. After dinner, we took the long and relaxing boat ride back to Magic Kingdom to catch a bus home. What a nice surprise to go right past the MK water light show at just the right time. It was a wonderful last night to our vacation.

I hope to go back soon, as our children loved it and I loved seeing their faces. :cheer2:

Wow Angela, sounds like you guys had a great vacation! It will be our first time at Pop in Feb (thanks to everyone's great reviews) and I hope we get the same blessings. Glad to hear your vacation was magical:wizard:

Hi all!!! Several pages back I posted about putting a air matress in the room, for my older son to sleep on to free up a spot in one of the beds. Because the baby won't sleep all night in the playpen. Anyhoo, I think I am gonna still need the pack and play. Will both fit do you think?? I can take the pack and play down during the night, as I only want it to be able to put him down someplace safe so we can take showers and stuff. Oh geez, It seems like we are gonna take so much stinkin stuff with us, where am I gonna put it all:rolleyes: . Thanks for the help!!
