Thanks so much for the info. Also, are you able to walk to the other AllStar resorts from POP??????

Thanks y'all! I'm definitely NOT switching from perfered to standard just to get my lakeside view, and the Chicklet just looked at the map and said "let's stay in the 50's", so I think I'll request that (without the view of the parking lot!).

I doubt we'll spend enough time in our room for the view to make a difference anyway.

Whereever! I'll be at Disney World!

Always ;-)

We stayed at Pop this April/May and wer in the 60's room#4418 & 4419 They were preferredand on the backside could just see the lake but it was really quiet. Poolside is a lot nosier !Am going solo next year and will request6o's standard I think from the map I've seenthey are not poolsideand the 60's is all really close to classic. The food court was great.. the cm's are so helpful with ddp questionsand you soon get the hang of it.

We're staying at the Poly in August but this past weekend we decided to fly down a day earlier to enjoy a relaxing afternoon by the pool before the commando touring begins. So I booked a room at POP for that one night. My question is how do I get all our luggage from POP to Poly the next morning and still manage to get to MK for opening? TIA to anybody who can provide an answer.

I'm in the same situation. Staying at Pop 1 night and then moving on to POFQ :) I asked my DreamsUnlimited person about this & this was her response:

"When you leave the Pop Century, just leave your bags with the front desk and ask them to transfer them over to the POFQ for you. You can also ask them if they'll transfer you and your bags! Sometimes they will do this - but it's not a guarantee. It would be much easier that way!"

Not at all. The resorts are fairly far away from each other, and the roads are busy highways for the most part, with no sidewalks. So even if you wanted to make the trek, it wouldn't be safe. Pop is a value, but not one of the All Stars. You really can't walk to any other place from Pop.
Go to the dining page and that wil lgive you lots of answers about the dining plan. We did it, and I highly recomend it. We ate so good! We never ate at pop though, except for one breakfast. We were on the go all the time and ate at the parks.

We love POP!!! One of our favorite bldgs. is the 50s section facing the pools. We decorate our window no matter what bldg. I always bring my extension cord so we can put our disney character lights around the window. I also vacumn pack our 50 disney character plush animals for the window too. I love to go around and look. It is so much fun! I also go to the big lots or the $ store and buy stickers for $1.00 to put on the window and car windows! I love it!!
Mousiemom

Mousiemom-what are your Nov dates? I'll be at Pop with my DD(8) and another couple from 11/8 to 11/13. I'll have to find your window.

Just checked some of the other menus and you'll definitely be able to get a biscuits & gravy fix because several on-site restaurants serve them (I'm sure there are probably others as well):

Whispering Canyon Cafe
Olivia's
Grand Floridian Cafe
Trail's End
Pepper Market
Allstar's Food Court (don't know why they have them but POP doesn't)

We're staying at Pop for the first time in August. Does anyone know how much they charge for a fridge? (No special needs, just something to keep the drinks cold.) Also, if we want to stay in a quiet area, I understand we should request something away from the pool. Are some buildings quieter than others?

Thanks!

$10 a night. But if you join a fridge swap, you will pay around $10 for your whole stay, or maybe even get it for free!

Chef Mickey's had them as well, but they weren't very good at all.

ACK! :scared: No gravy!

What am I going to do?!!! :headache:

Just kidding! I'll be fine. I was just hoping it was something that they just didn't put on the menu but you could ask for. Oh wel. :sad2:

We stayed at POFQ in January and the food court had B&G. My fiance went down and got it every morning while I got ready. He said it was SOOOOO good and very cheap too!!! We stayed at Pop in 2004, but I don't remember them every having B&G. I wonder why other food court's do and they don't :confused3

We just returned from WDW yesterday. Our 2nd day there we had brunch at the ABC Commissary at MGM. I ordered the biscuits and gravy there and let me tell you, they are not like any I've had before. I actually did not finish eating them because I couldn't stand the taste. I went to the grocery this morning so I can make my own later here. BTW, our stay at the POP was mostly great (we were in the farthest room on the 3rd floor of the 90s building pool side so that wasn't great) and we only saw rain 2 afternoons/nights while we were there after we were heading back to our room to sleep anyway. :thumbsup2 Oh, and for those of you flying AirTran....don't count on being able to check in for your return flight at the hotel. Although we were told they were a participating airline and would be able to do this, when we tried to on our check-out day we were told they couldn't do it as they had no computer access to AirTran to do so. So we had to lug our luggage around ourselves (no treat at the Orlando airport where we walked all the way to one end to check in and get our luggage weighed, then had to truck it back down to the other end to take it to the checked-luggage X-ray area ourselves, then turn around and walk back to the opposite end to head to our gate area. Ugh!). Just a bit of a warning....

Biscuits and gravy, that seems as bad as peanut butter & jelly:rotfl:
I am only joking but these foods seem so strange to us English. I love American
food and will try both these at pop this year, are there any other dishes we should try?

"Biscuits and gravy, that seems as bad as peanut butter & jelly"

I have actually never had biscuits and gravy - it's a southern dish. My husband, who spent summers in Richmond, Virginia when he was a child, every now and then has a craving for biscuits and gravy and will make his own as they're not available where we live.

Try the ribs at Flame Tree BBQ in Animal Kingdom - they were very good.
