I think that is a fire hazard. And your neighbors might not appreciate the smell. I would just bring along something easy for the mornings.

OK thanks, was worth a shot!!!!!

Anyone know if POP Century's bell services will accept cold groceries from garden grocer and store them in a fridge until you are back in your room?

I know some WDW hotels do this, but I don't know if POP does it.

Thanks!

A search on "cooking in rooms" pretty much comes up that the official answer is "no" (in reply to insoin's question). Might be a reason to upgrade to DVC ;)

I have read that yes the Pop do this :thumbsup2. We used Garden Grocer last year and they were great although we didn't need anything refrigerated before we got there. Best to do is either call and confirm with Disney or ask Garden Grocer in your delivery request and they should email you right back to let you know.

Anyone else going to Pop Century 13-19? Was wondering if the parks were very busy since its after the 4th?

I'll be there 7/13-7/29!! We have found that July and August while steady, is not really super crowded. I'm not saying it's low attendance, but it's not that bad. I think your touring plan makes a huge difference.

OK I have just joined not to long ago. I am going to Pop this Sept. I have a sily question that I have not seen yet (read about 100 posts so far and will try to read them all before I go). I have one of those nifty toasters that will also cook eggs, and sausages. Can I bring that there and use it in the room? Or will they say no toaster allowed? Anyone know?

Thanks!

I don't think it would be a problem at all. Alot of people bring toasters. You could call and ask to be sure. But how would they really know anyways.

I just called Pop and asked the front desk. They said it is fine. Hopefully it will also save some $$$ by being able to have breakfast in the room.

That is so great to hear because we will be there from 7/10-7/19 for our wedding and I was worried that it would be PACKED! Since I'm a teacher, it's really the only time of year we can ever go for a long trip, so I'm glad to hear this. Thanks :thumbsup2

Good to know!

What I did this last trip (since we are doing low carb) was bring the boxes of pre-cooked bacon, and just heated them in the microwaves (30 seconds or so) at the food court. It was super! We bought either an omlette or scrambled eggs and added the bacon to make a great breakfast. (one day I just ate bacon for breakfast:thumbsup2 ) The bacon in the box doesn't need to be refrigerated until it is opened. There are fifteen slices in the box, and between the three of us on the plan, and the kids, we finished a box per morning, so no worry about refrigeration. (I realize they sell bacon at the food court too, but I found the boxed bacon to be much crispier!)

Ok Mouseketeers, I've got a question for ya (but first you need to read along).

We're booked for a preferred room in Sept. I like the idea of being fairly close to the buses and Everything Pop. We're serious park commandos, so it's nice not to walk too far when we're dragging our tired bodies back to the room at the end of the night. But this is also my first time in a value resort, and I'm a pretty spoiled chick who usually stays in a Deluxe and loves looking out at beeeeautiful views when I'm on vacation so I can feel really spoiled. However this time, I'm traveling with my 13yr DD on a GirlzOnly trip, and one of the things we're planning to do to make the trip more wayyytoofun is to decorate our window in a totally tacky over the top fashion (we've never decorated our room before because we were traveling with DaBoys who are OfficialSticksInTheMud). Ok, do you have all that now?

My question is, Should I ask for a preferred room with a lake view (if there is such a thing), or am I better off embracing the Pop Culture and asking for a room near the Hippy Dippy pool so that everyone will see our GirlzGonePop decorations? Is there a happy medium?

Have I made you all completely crazy with my trivial concerns yet? ;-)

Always ;-)

The last two times, I have requested Lake View, and got stuck behind those big dancing people on the sides of the building! Both times we decorated our windows and neither time could anyone see it!!!! (yes, I am still crazed over it) So, request what you really want (lake view) and take what they give you. (This time I was in preferred, and before that had requested 70's lakeview.)

I had an excellent TA, and she had both called and FAXed POP before our arrival and I still got a crappy room. When I returned, I was going to change my request for September, but she said, that it is a little harder to get a Lake View room when you are in preferred because there are less available. In September, we have standard room request for lake view - period. She said that may be easier to accomodate since they could put us in either 70's or 50's.

The lake view rooms, in my humble opinion, are MUCH quieter, and, it makes me feel like I am on vacation. The pool rooms were very loud. I was in the 60's above the kiddie pool on the third floor and it was VERY LOUD with people yelling for thier kids both at 3AM (and the kid was yelling back that she was NOT coming up) :scared1: and at 7AM (thank you "Bradley"'s mom):thumbsup2 ! (I realize that could happen anywhere, but if you are in a lake view, the kids shouldn't be hanging out below for their parents to yell to them to come back to the room)

OK, so, that's my rather lengthy answer. Let us know what you decide.

What you could request is a lakeview in the 60s. While they aren't preferred, they really are close enough to everything yet quiet. We were in preferred (room 4424) on the opposite side from the pool but the first room past the elevators. If you were on the same side but in the other direction from the elevator, you would be in standard, quiet lake view and only a few more steps than preferred.

Here's the map:

If we go back, that's where I will request. We would still be close enough to run down for coffee in the mornings and a short enough walk to the buses.

I had seen that map of the preferred rooms before we left and FREAKED!!! I asked about it before we left, and was told that all of the 60's is still preferred. :confused3 The TA is from Our Laughing Place Travel, so this is all they do, so I took that as the answer. Maybe call POP before making the decision to switch from preferred to standard. BECAUSE, once you switch to standard, the building is now only a request, and you could still get stuck out in the 90's, or way on the other side of the 50's, because now your guarentee of being close to everything is gone. (my daughter has always wanted to stay in the "yellow hotel" so that is why it was important for us to be in the 60's this trip, so I stuck with preferred)

We love POP!!! One of our favorite bldgs. is the 50s section facing the pools. We decorate our window no matter what bldg. I always bring my extension cord so we can put our disney character lights around the window. I also vacumn pack our 50 disney character plush animals for the window too. I love to go around and look. It is so much fun! I also go to the big lots or the $ store and buy stickers for $1.00 to put on the window and car windows! I love it!!

:grouphug: Thank you for the info on the pop we will be going to next may . with all the info i feel better prepared for my stay.

I am very new to Disney and definitely the value hotels. I was wondering if you purchase the dining plan, is the food court in the POP including in the dining plan or not????

Thanks.

Caroline

Yes, the food court at Pop participates in the dining plan. Best thing to do is ask what is included when you are ordering.
