Just so you know, just left POP, the CM's at the front desk seemed none to thrilled abt these swaps! One said it takes up so much room, etc. Also, said management was in talks abt stopping it :{...Then again, this is just one CM talking at 4 am!!!

Oh boy, not to surprise...I hope not...I on a couple of swamps....I wonder how they would notifed someone if they stop this....

OK I've read almost 100 pages of this thread and I keep getting confused. We have a standard room. I'd like to be as close to the food court/bus stop as possible because DH won't be with us. Should I just ask for that or should I try to specify an area? I thought about 70s, but actually that one building of the 90s (I think building 9) looks closer than the standard 70s.

When people complain about the distance, I don't know their tolerance for walking...we were in the swamp area of Riverside last time and I didn't think our walk to the bus was too bad...a little meandering, but fine. The walk to the food court/boat dock was pretty long...would've rather been closer. Years ago we stayed at ASM in the Country Music section by the big boot and I remember thinking that walk was excessive. How does Pop compare to that?

Also, what flavors are the Coke slushies? Is it just frozen Coke or do they have cherry or raspberry? And they ARE included in w/the refillable mugs? Yippee! It's the little things in life that thrill me I guess.

thanks for the report. sounds like this is a really busy time to go. I know there are a lot of college kids on spring break. I wondered what early spring would be like at wdw. we'll stick to fall. seems to work for us. wanted to go to Star wars weekends sometime but I hear it's really crazy then and hot. :scared:

Just wanted to add....I did love POP!!! I am so glad I was in the 60's....(mom is a senior) we had very little walking at POP...I really loved the 60's pool area, seemed more like a resort here in this area than a "motel"...also the main building houses the merchandise store, food court etc and out the other doors, the bus stops. We had a lakeview which is nice for a value...I just liked the proximity to everything...(60's) bldg 4...I would get 2 rooms here again even with a longer stay. Id like to try a mod, however, they appear to spread out etc...with a 2 yr old and a senior next trip...this may work best.

I think the 80's and 90's buildings weren't too far away from the bus stop if you cut through the parking lot. But it is a little farther to the main building doors. I think everything isn't really far . Even the closet places to the main building have a little wal kto the bus stop. We were in building 6, on the left side almost all the way back to the lake. Our walk was less than 5 minutes to the bus or Classic Hall, even with a 2 year old trailing along. She didn't want to be in her stroller much really. But it was nice to carry stuff around in too.

I'm not sure if I will write a report or not. I never read any before, I probably should've before I went though! I just had so mcu hto do and so little time!

I know, when I come back from disney...there is so much to ketch up on. I never wrote one.:) They are just fun to read, especially when kids are involve.

The slushies are Coke and Blue Raspberry, and yes they are included with the refillable mugs! :thumbsup2

Pop is nothing like POR as far as how spread out the resort is. Also ASMu is a straight line back from the food court/bus stop whereas Pop has buildings behind, left and right of the food court. It looks to me like the Country Music section in ASMu is much more remote than any Pop room.

I have only read to page 19 so far. However, from what I have gathered, most people would not pay extra for the preferred bulding. BUT what if you are going the last week of July with 6, 5, and 4 year olds? I really don't want to be in the 80's/90's buildings. We will have two rooms and request connecting. We do not mind paying for preferred.

Also, non-smoking and connecting are our main requests. If we get 60's where would you request to get a quiet room, but close to Classic Hall. (Is that even possible? LOL!)

Thanks! :)

Okay I have to say I was worried about staying in a value hotel, but that was just probably me being a snob (with some help from a few DISers opinions). I will just give a run down of all the wonderful things that I have to say about POP.

We arrived on 2/27 at 7 in the morning after driving for 9 hours straight. We were expecting to keep our luggage in the car and go straight to the parks but suprise suprise our room was already ready!! We stayed in the 50's building near the jukebox and had a really short walk to just about everything!

Later on when we returned from our first day at the park the hotel delivered some balloons and an autographed card from Minnie & Mickey in front of the jukebox! I was sooo excited! Yes it takes very little to please me.

Later on through out the week we also got the most wonderful towel animals which we proudly displayed in our window. One of the mousekeeping was from the Poly. resort and knew how to make different kinds so we got some unique ones that no one else had!

Then at the last minute we decided to go to the pirate and princess party so I went to the concierge and they were able to rearrange my adr's with no problem!

I can't say enough about this hotel and probably will return here many many times (hopefully really soon)

I considered POP, but I'm not sure I want to stay at a value resort. The room is 260 sq feet which is smaller than my living room. How do they fit a bathroom in? But, I could save a lot of money, and I won't be spending much time in the room...I can't decide. The last post with the cute animals made me consider it again...

We mainly stayed at deluxe resorts until we tried POP, as you can see from my signature. Now it is hard to justify the extra $$$ for the extra room! We only used the balcony at the deluxe resorts for drying something (not coffee in the morning kind of people) but REALLY enjoy the convenience of the food court.

You can always try POP and if you are completely miserable, the CMs will get you switched to a different resort. If it is just the size of the room you are worried about, I wouldn't worry unless you are overpackers. We return each and every day to the room for a 2-3 hour break and are fine.

This January I stayed at the Poly with my mom and sister and WOW - the room felt SO huge - but my sister and I immediately noticed things we preferred at Pop. (she has joined us at POP twice, OKW once, AKL once)

Hope that helps a little! :)

Jenn Lynn - we do pay for preferred rooms at POP. I have some health issues and the extra $ ensures that we are close to everything. The rooms are the 'backside' are much quieter than pool side. The higher up, the quieter as well. Have fun!

(PS: we had connecting, non-smoking rooms in the 60s during our May trip)

Those towel animals are adorable!! What an awesome treat to come "home" too!! I'm curious though about the balloons...did you have a special reason that you were receiving balloons from the hotel or was it just a special thing the hotel does for some people?

Well the towel animals probably wouldn't have been left except I printed out a letter before we left asking for some if they had the time. I placed the letter with the tip money for housekeeping everyday so we always had a treat to come home to.

The balloons were a little more unexpected since we booked the trip I remember someone asking us if we were celebrating anything. My husband said that we were celebrating our anniversary and I had forgotten until the balloons arrived. It was just a very nice touch that makes it worth it to stay at disney.

The rooms are about the same size as a standard Comfort Inn/Holiday Inn room. Our family of 4 does just fine with it. We aren't in the room much either, just to sleep and night and nap during the day. We spent 10 days in a room at ASMo in 2004, one entire day in the room because of a hurricane, and it was ok. We were ready to get out when the hurricane was over, but it wasn't the room, it started on our first day at WDW and we wanted to play!

10 more days til I'll rockin and rollin at the POP,Pop,POP!!!!!;) :cool1:
I can't wait, starting to drive my family crazy!:)
