Official Disney Cake Chatter - Part V!

We asked for him to deliver the cake at bell services at AKL (Jambo). Once we arrived we picked it up (AKL bell services is always quick) and then informed the restaurant we had a cake with us while checking in. They told us they can’t take it back to the kitchen due to safety reasons and we had to keep it at our table. They provided candles and lit them up. They also do not provide any to go boxes, but it was easy enough to package it back up into the box. We chose not to cut it, but it would probably be better to cut it at a restaurant if it has fondant (vs trying with plastic knives). I suppose someone can step away and go to bell services if you would like it to be a surprise. I would make it the last thing you do so you can take it back to your resort after dinner.

We thought of taking it to our MK lunch ADR at CRT. He said he can deliver to the front of the park and meet up with us, but we would have to take it through security. Also someone would have to leave the park to take it back to the resort. The cake will go bad in about 1-2 hours in the Florida heat.

The cake was big for a 6 inch, most likely you will have left overs esp if you have young kids and you’re at a buffet.
Thank you, we will be at Steakhouse 71, 4 adults and 2 children. I am looking at 3rd party options right, were you happy with the cake quality and taste from Daisy Cakes? The pictures you posted are almost exactly what I am looking for.

Terribly late but these are my recent cakes. The football cake was in January, ordered from GF to be delivered to the boat launch for a fireworks cruise. There was no delivery fee for the cake. It was $275 total. We brought our own disposable plates/utensils (and wine!). It was a yellow cake with tropical mousse filling and the football was rice crispy treats.

The second in July while staying at WL and ordered from GF. Simple 2 tier buttercream mini-cake with buttercream flowers. Was $75, which included delivery.

Yes. He recommended maple buttercream with the pumpkin spice cake and we told him not to use maple and that was a mistake (buttercream was good but would have been better with the recommended flavoring). The fondant tastes like toffee so don’t plan on just throwing it away. The pumpkin cake was so soft and delicious. We would definitely use him again.

The pictures were taken after we had lit candles and the top of the gum paste portraits melted. There were portraits all around the cake as well. Several people stopped by to ask where we got the cake. An elaborate Haunted Mansion cake for $150 was a steal IMO.

Wanted to provide an update:
I sent an email to the address listed in the first post and told her I needed a birthday cake for Steakhouse 71. She (Glorimar) replied with some basic questions and forwarded my email to the pastry team at Contemporary. The Sous pastry chef emailed me back right away and requested some inspiration pictures and a good time to connect on details and pricing.

Seems like things are constantly changing.

Do let us know how it goes. We were hoping to order a cake in Dec.

I would go with Daisy Cakes Orlando. We had a great experience with them delivering a haunted mansion themed cake to a restaurant. A 6 inch themed cake was $150 and that is a reasonable price for the beautiful pumpkin custom cake with fondant that they delivered. It had various portraits from the ride all around the cake. The heat from the candles melted the gum paste portraits on top of the cake and we did have to keep the cake with us at the table (someone can probably go up to bell services and pick it up during dinner for a surprise) it was delivered to bell services:

Beautiful cake! Do you have contact information? Will need to order a cake to AKL for my son’s birthday in December. We’ve always had wonderful luck with the Grand Floridian in the past. So sad to hear they are no longer delivering them to other resorts.

I was able to use the email provided in the first post to order a Minnie cake from GF bakery to be served at 1900 Park Fare. The phone number didn't work but the email did. I was able to get everything arranged within 24 hours of emailing.

Which phone number didn't work? I just tried the Grand Floridian Private Dining Cake Line at 407-824-2474 and it worked (after a clunky recording about their privacy policy).

Does anyone have recent experience getting a mini-cake ordered? We're traveling in October and it will be my son's second birthday while we are there (and the rest of our travel party are all celebrating milestone birthdays from earlier in the year) so would love to get one. Haven't had to order a cake in 10 years and I can see from past pages there's been some upheaval in how to order/whether it's even possible.

We'd be in Magic Kingdom on his birthday, though haven't decided on which restaurant yet. Our resort is All-Star Music.

Yes, mini cakes are still available, but only from the Grand Floridian, and you have to be staying there or dining at one of their restaurants. They might also let you pick it up at the front desk. They stopped delivering to other resorts last year, and Magic Kingdom hasn’t had custom cake options in many years. Call the number for private dining in Post #2.

Don’t forget about the specialty desserts offered at MK restaurants only. You would have to contact the specialty dessert team to see what they are currently offering. We found them to be sufficient after a heavy meal.

I’m not sure about the mini cakes post covid. We have ordered a cake delivered to Boma (post Covid) from Daisy Cakes Orlando (6 inch haunted mansion fondant covered cake for $150) at the end of the night (restaurants don’t store leftovers; they won’t cut or pack for you, although they will light a candle-can’t do that in your room).

Note prices are now higher vs pre covid $15

That's good to know about the specialty desserts! Didn't know that was an option. Thank you! Definitely gives me a lot to think about.

Since it’s on his birthday you could book 1900 park fare (GF bakery; they did confirm they still can do a white chocolate glass sipper dessert there, although CRT’s crown dessert is a better choice for a boy) and have a cake delivered there. We’ve always had leftovers when dining at any of the restaurants. We usually take a mid day break and have an 5 pm ADR and then head to Mk after. If you have 6-7 people a 6 inch cake would not have a lot of leftovers.

You can carry a cake into the park but it would have to go through security and can’t be store at a restaurant (lockers are cool so it might be ok for a few hours, but I’ve had to throw out leftovers from our $180 cake that went bad in 2 hours in the heat - lesson learned).

For our upcoming April trip I contacted the GF team for 1900 park fare regarding the glass slipper dessert. They do still offer it, for $35 and white chocolate only. DD doesn’t like white chocolate and loves the strawberry soup/fresh strawberries on the buffet.

The MK team also replied. The options at CRT (I asked for all MK restaurants but this is for CRT only):

1. 3-inch tiara for $25.00 and a 5-inch tiara for $40.00, both plus tax and gratuity.

2. exclusive keepsake Cinderella's Royal Table champagne flutes!  These are served with a sparkling cider toast after the meal, and the cost is $19.00 each plus tax and gratuity.

3. we offer our Cinderella glass slipper. This costs $65.00 plus tax and gratuity.

4. Mickey Mouse celebration cake! This is available in dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or sweet white chocolate and can include a special message of “Happy Birthday” or “Congratulations” on the chocolate ears—or you can leave them blank. Each cake serves 4-6 guests, and costs $39 plus tax and gratuity.

5. Chocolate Slipper Dessert! This dessert is a mini white chocolate slipper filled with raspberry mousse! This dessert is $25.00 plus tax and gratuity. Note: this specialty enhancement is only available in white chocolate and cannot be customized or personalized in any way.

No storage but email says they will box up (note: we’ve usually been handed the box to do it ourselves).

I was quoted $65+tax for a mini 2 tier cake (size of a cupcake) at 1900 park fare (made by the GF bakery).

Edit: the quote was for a mini cake with Beach colors+Moana image (the image is probably the extra $$).
