The Groovy New Pop Century FAQ Thread!

My mom and I just booked to stay at Pop Century, this Dec.5-12,2006( this will be our first time staying there) and we can't wait!!!!!!! When I booked I asked if we could be in the 50's building( by lady and the tramp), I hope we get it! My mom was born in the 50's, so I thought it would be fun for us to stay over in those building's!

I heard someone say that they thought Pop Century was getting new mugs( that are going to be tye-died), is this true? Those would be realy cool, if they did change the mug's to tye-died ones!

wow! I just read the entire thread. I really enjoyed it. I am glad I kept reading thru b/c some things have changed since the beginning. I am glad to hear they have haridryers in the rooms and possibly apple juice for the refillable cups.

I will be at POP on 4/25!!! I am really surprised that out of 125 pages, the 90's building was only mentioned once. I figure this is where I will probably be placed. Can anyone share their experiences w/ the 90's buildings? I am traveling w/ DH and my parents. It would be nice if we had connecting rooms nonsmoking of course, I guess I would have to sacrifice the king bed though since it is the one thing my mom requested in the whole trip planning process.
We have no real special requests. I would like a free fridge for my beer but I guess the cooler will do! I haven't heard much about the pool bar. Is there plenty of seating? How many barstools? What time is it open until? What kind of beer do they have? Any specialty drinks? Do they serve snacks?

We usually stay at the SOG so the room size is going to be a shock to us but I really wanted my parents to experience the dining plan. So POP, here we come! (Am I going to look silly playing in the popjets at age 28?)

Are you kidding!? I'm 37, and I can't wait to play in the popjets! :lmao: They look like they are so much fun!

Seriously, it was almost a coin toss for me on whether to pick Pop or AS Movies. The popjets and the frozen Cokes is what made me lean toward Pop.

We do not have reservations yet.....I'm still waiting on my quote and am hoping to snag a good airfare. But, I'm still happy about the possibility of staying at Pop, leaping through the jets, and slurping my frozen Coke in a tye-dye mug. Life is good.

Have a great vacation!

Can't answer all of your questions but there is plenty of seating at Petals. Not only are there bar stools but there are tables in the area. Here is a picture from AllEarsnet.com. I don't remember snacks being available but the food court is the next building with plenty of snacks available.

::MickeyMo :dumbo: pooh: :figment: :tink: :stitch: I just got home from my disney trip!! We stayed at POP and I LOVED it!!!!! We were in the 50's building! I loved the bowling Pins!! Lady and the Tramp were sweet!! there is also a huge jutebox by the pool! The pool was a shape of a bowling pin!! We were close to everything Pop probally about a 2 minute walk, and close to the buses too! My favorite thing at Pop was the Bus service!!! we never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus! Didn't always get a seat but the parks were close to the resort so it didn't matter.... it was a about a 10 min ride to Epcot, 12 to MGM, 12 to ak and the longest ride was to the MK that was about a 20-22 min ride... The only thing i didn't like was the bus stops were the VERY last ones at the park so after a LONG day it was a LONG walk to the buses... but what can ya do!!
The rooms were very nice!! there were 3 of us (all adults) and we were comfortable. No fridge but we had a cooler that my mom brought down to us ( we flew from Buffalo) We got the cups from the resort and saved alot of $ on drinks!!! they had alot to choose from too, coke, diet coke, sprite, apple juice, lemonaide, frozen cokes, coffee, tea, hot Choc. more pop flavors too can't remember them all!! lol
The food court had alot to choose from! It was great to come back from a long day at the park and get a bite to eat! You walk in and Forget what time it is!! It's GREAT!!!!!!!!!!
Well we spent 6 nights there and 5 days in the park... Wishing i was back there but can't wait to sleep in my own bed!!! They weren't uncomfortable
there BUT there is just something about your Own bed!!
Well thats all i have for now... any questions ask!!!!! Time for a nap!!

ps... if anyone can tell me how to insert pics i will put some in of the resort!!

What kind of music is played around the resort? Does the music match the decade or is it all the same?

We're staying at POP from 11/11/06-11/15/06. Can't wait!!!!! :) Now I need to come back and completely read this whole thread.

OK I think we are going to book the POP! Which buildings are "preferred" locations that you pay more per might for? Anybody got any opinions on which buildings are best?

The 60's are the preferred buildings, near Classic Hall nad surrounding the main pools. I recommend the 70's or the 50's. The Hot Wheels buidling in the 70's or the Lady (of Lady and the Tramp) building in the 50's.

Hope you have a great time. Wish I was there!

This is great!! I cannot wait to get there. It's the 1st family trip & we are so excited. Everything about POP seems great!!! 39 days to go!! WOOHOO :cool1: :cool1:

They played A variety of music from the 50's to the 90's... It was really great to hear some of the songs i haven't heard in a while... like MC Hammer.. Can't touch this... Brought back childhood memories!

Welcome back MickeynMinnie! Sounds like you had a great time!

Since you are just back and got the refillable mugs, can you tell us what your mugs look like? Just wondering if the rumor of new tye-died mugs is true!
Our mugs look like these....

I'd love to see the tye dye mugs! :woohoo:

First, you have to move the picture from your computer to a picture hosting site, like Photobucket. Photobucket accounts are free. From Photobucket, you just cut-and-paste the link to your picture, and it'll show up in your post.

If this isn't clear, maybe someone else with more techie-knowhow can jump in and explain it better.

BTW, I'm still waiting on my quote for a Pop stay.

I would also love to see the new tye-die mugs!

Actually, the tie-dye mugs have been around for awhile - we got ours in Sept.
We got the one pictured in Dec. 2004.

Unless this is a brand new (third) design?

WOOT WOOT!

We'll be at the POP for the 1st time....this is so awesome... :wizard:

We got the ones pictured in June 2005.

To post a picture here... upload your photo to the web (like the suggested Photobucket), then, go to the page it's on (that's actually what you linked to- the page itself), then right-click on the photo, select PROPERTIES, and grab the photo's address there. The photo will end in JPG. Come back to this page and click on the little Insert Image icon (looks like a mountain with a yellow background) and paste that address into the pop-up window and click okay. The picture should appear in your post. :)

Can't wait to see the new mug!

You will not know which building you are in, until you check in. When you make your reservation, you can request a specific building, but it is simply that - a request. If you pay for a preferred location, you will be in the 60s but you still won't know which building until you check in. :sunny:
