Thanks geetey for the quick response! We are definitely having a car around, and I think are planning on taking the busses at least for MK (espeically since we'll be doing MVMCP and won't have QUITE as many people to contend with on the way home). It will be nice to be in a sort-of central location, though.... hopefully we'll get some pixie dust! ;)

Glad to know that for the most part, bus service is good. I think the hotel that has the best bus service will probably be where we stay on the next trip. Pop is very appealing. We've never stayed at a value and I look forward to trying it out!

How big is the fridge?? I'm wondering how much you can fit in it and if it's woth the $10 a night. I was just thinking of running to walmart and buying one.

Thanks :earsgirl:

I'm curious. What exactly is coffee milk? Is it like chocolate milk, but with coffee flavor instead? I'm not a coffee drinker so it sounds yucky to me.

FUNNY! My 11 year old nephew is addicted to these too.....so am I. It's a coffee flavored syrup, found in all supermarkets along with the choclate milk mixes, tea, coffee etc. There are many different brands, i like Nestles the best. You add milk & ice and make a cool tasty drink.

They are dorm room size, very small.

If you should rent one, it depends how long you are staying. If you are staying more than 4 nights...nah! Bring a cooler, and fill it with ice from the ice machines. It's a VERY VERY common thing to do at the POP. You see everyone checking in with coolers on their luggage carriers going to their rooms.

We have a fridge during our June 3-13th stay. It was indeed a small dorm style fridge. We had in the door a half gallon of milk, plus 3 water bottles. On the base, we placed 4 bottles of gatorade, 2 bottles of water. On the shelf, we had a bag of grapes, a bag of bing cherries, my box of medicine, as well as 2 more water bottles on their sides and a bag of small Hershey bars. In the freezer section we had 2 freezer packs for transporting my meds.

The half gallon of milk was $3.29 while we were there. Pints were $.99. I believe the only water I saw in the Food Court were 20 ounce bottles of Dasani. We stopped at a grocery store on our way in, so we didn't buy any bottled water.

Buses - during our 10 night stay we found the bus system to be OUTSTANDING. I know it is a matter of timing, and yes we were trying to hit the buses at a specific time in the mornings but we rarely waited for a bus. Even as we left the parks, our waits were very minimal. We were traveling with friends who joked that I even had our bus time planned since a bus almost always pulled up as we walked up. The only night we waited as at Epcot, after Illuminations. That wait was a total of 20 minutes and we were on the 4th bus to arrive within that 20 minute span and the line was emptying onto another bus as we pulled away.

BTW, I agree with DISUNC. Using a cooler is SO easy, especially at POP. If we didn't have my medicine to worry about (can't get wet), that's what we would have done. You can even purchase a very cheap styrofoam cooler if you stop at a grocery store.

We are definitely bringing a cooler since we are driving, along with some gallon bottles of drinking water so we can have it cold. I know Florida water out of the tap besides not tasting great is never cold, hardly ever cool actually... :sunny:

A new question for you experts...... :sunny:

We will be driving our truck down, and bringing enough clothes to last the full eight days we are there (no need to do laundry then since we have plenty of room), plus a cooler and other essentials.

When we check into POP, will there be carts to move our stuff to our room, or is there just mandatory luggage service where they move your stuff for you? We can easily move it ourselves and would rather do that, just not sure if that is ever done onsite as this is our first onsite stay.

If there are carts, are there a large number of them or are you often waiting for a cart to move your stuff into your room...any info is helpful..thanks..

There are good-sized luggage carts that can be signed out from luggage service out front.

Hi all...........

Thanks so much for the info on the fridge. We are staying 10 nights so I think I'll just buy one. It wouldn't be worth the $100 that I would have to pay. I don't need alot of stuff but I'd like to have some milk, cheese.fruit etc................. :goodvibes

That makes sense, if you drive to WDW and have the room in your vehicle. Walmart has one for under $65.

I Believe if you need a fridge for Medical reasons, any Disney resort will not charge you for it.
I dont know what the conditions are (thankfully) but I would call the resort and find out the details.

One month from today We will be at the POP!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

You are correct, DISUNC. There is no charge if you have a medical reason for needing a fridge. This was the first time we needed a fridge for something besides water. Previously we used a cooler to keep our drinks cold. Actually paying for a fridge is only necessary at the values. The moderates and deluxes have one in each room. :) Have a GREAT time at POP next month! I wish we were going back!!

Blueberry, they do have a good sized luggage cart for moving your things. You have to sign for one and must return it within the alloted time or be charged. It looks like a dolly, but it has a wheel at the top that flips down and locks into place (the CM will do this for you) and pulls very easily. Just a note though - there is no place to hang something, like on luggage carts we have used at other WDW resorts as well as other hotels. Luggage services is located to the right end of Classic Hall, by the circle where you see being dropped off by DME, Mears, taxis, etc. Have a great trip!

Just a note about coolers:

We got one of the collapsible coolers from Costco for $20, packed it in a suitcase (without the wheels that were detachable) and we were set! It was so convenient. Then, on the trip home, we packed it with souveniers and checked it on the plane! This was the best purchase!!!! Go the cooler route and buy one of those collapsible ones if you can - it pays for itself.

We just got back from our trip about 45 minutes ago from staying at the Pop Century and I would go back in a moments notice. We have NO! complaints about this resort. I will be the first to say that the toilets are loud but they were never an issue. The rooms were smaller than I am used to but we have been staying in condos with my parents for the last 7 years so you get used to having a 2 or 3 bedroom place compared to a hotel room but I am not complaining at all. The room was great. We were on the 2nd floor of the 50's Building with a lake view. If we were there, we would be on the side where you could see the fireworks from Illuminations. The staff was super, the room was fine, and my DW and DS(11) would say that this was the best trip we have been on. We were able to do everything that we wanted to do including see some of the Star Wars stuff that was going on. AWESOME TRIP!!!!

That's good to know. FIL is a diabetic and needs to keep his insulin refrigerated:cold:. It'll come in handy for DS's milk and my Fruit²O (I'm addicted to the stuff) also.

Sandy,
Be sure that you have it noted on your reservation and then remind them when you check in. Also, be sure and pack enough ice packs to keep his medication cold for several hours after check-in. It took our little fridge several hours before it was cool enough for me to transfer my meds. I just happened to bring 2 of the freezer packs they use when mailing me my Rx - I needed 2!
