Maybe Mousesavers.com may have a more difinitive answer... but I think that the Swan and Dolphin offer military discounts also....give it a look.:thumbsup2

Good Morning all, I was out and about yesterday evening and found that our friendly " DOLLAR TREE" had lots and lots of small disney stuff. small note pads, pencils, folders, yoyo's, crayons, small journels, Pooh tissues, coloring/activities, and I don't remember what else, I am doing a surprise gift bag for my girls for our trip and have it just about full of Disney stuff from there.:yay:

If I remember right there are 3 rows of drink stations. Only the center one had the frozen coke near the end closest to the cashiers.

when we were there (in may) there were two frozen coke machines. so maybe they've added another one! :thumbsup2 if i remember right, both had coke flavor and one had frozen blue stuff and the other had frozen minute maid orange or red (or something like that) stuff. i didn't pay attention to the others because i always got the coke flavor! just look for the sinks at the drink stations because i remember that they were very close to the sinks.

They also have the glow in the drak neckalces, and bracelets. We bought a bunch to take along and it was great. While they had them on sale each night at the parks we had like 5-10 bracelets for a buck. So we could wear more than one, or string them together to make a big one. It was also nice to take on dark rides.

I forgot about the glow in the dark necklaces and bracelets, got some of those too, plus the red and blue ones for the 4th of July.

we did that on our last couple trips too. It was a big help for dark rides and even fireworks...I'll be stocking up on those again on our next trip.:goodvibes

I have a strange question. We are going in Sept. and have two rooms booked at POP. Obviously, the kids room has two beds, but I have two sons and a daughter. They have already started arguing over who is sharing a bed. It seems that I read somewhere you were allowed to take an air mattress as long as you weren't exceeding the room occupancy....

Does anyone know if this would be allowed? I'm not trying to break rules - just keep the kids from fighting!

No problems.

DW & I are used to a king bed, so we didn't relish the idea of sharing a double bed for a week when we took DS (3yo) for a week.

We brought something of an air mattress (actually a pair of 20" wide camping sleep pads), sheets, blanket, and tipped the hostess a little extra for having to make up three beds each day.

To make room, you'll have to move one of the chairs out of the way and slide the table all the way up against the TV unit. You then have just enough room to place it against the wall in the corner where the A/C controls are located.

I'll warn you that Pop rooms do not have much space to work with. I think part of what helped make this work for us was that the camp pads we used are about 1" thick, so you could just step on it if needed. If you bring an inflatable mattress that is several inches thick, you will have almost no room between the mattress and the bed, and such a tall mattress will make it easier to trip on.

=== ADDITIONAL NOTE ===
Because of space concerns, you might want to try to find something like this Tinkerbell Bed. It's listed at only 25" wide, while most inflatable mattresses I could quickly find with a Google search were greater than 40" wide.

And for those that might ask "well where can I find a mattress like you used?"...
Well unless you are a backpacker and already own the equipment, I just can not recommend it for someone else because of the expense. The pair of ultra lite Therm-a-rest sleeping pads I used are something like $50 to $70 EACH. And I also can not recommend using just one in a motel room. Like I said, these things are only 20" wide and 1" tall. Not much roll-over room. They are so low to the ground that if DS did roll over and "fall out of bed", he probably wouldn't even know it. I don't like the idea of him sleeping directly on a motel room carpet. From what I've experienced, motel carpets are pretty filthy. Sure they get vacuumed frequently. But because of high use, they have lots of ground in dirt a vacuum isn't going to get.

If we brought a twin, would it fit between the two beds?

I would estimate that there is only about 3 feet of space (or less... perhaps 30") between the beds. With the room door open, there is about 3" of space between the door and the 1st bed, and about 20" of space between the 2nd bed and far wall. Beds can not be moved (like in they are either EXTREAMLY heavy, or actually bolted to the floor/wall).

Additionally, I think the TV is too close to the bathroom to place a bed there (not enough leg room, though that space is perfect for the pack-n-play cribs... assuming you don't need to use a connecting room door).

Speaking of the pack-n-play, we had one on our last trip (had a new-born with us). Baby wound up sleeping with DW during the trip, so the pack-n-play was just storage space. I recall that it did not seem in the way at all, and from what I can find online, it appears that they are about 31" wide. So any mattress you can find that's about 30" wide or less should do fine.

Once the table has been moved, I think a twin mattress will fit in the space against the wall between the rooms positions closest to the front of the room at the A/C controls. But at 42" (or more) wide, there would not be enough space for someone to walk between the mattress and the bed closest to the door. I don't know if WDW would frown on that as a fire hazzard as the only way to get out of the room would be to climb over the bed. But if you decided to bring one anyway, you could at least store it on end out of the way during the day so Mouse Keeping will have room to work.

I agree with this - there would be room for a twin air mattress along the wall between the rooms. You just have to move the table over by the window.

We have friends who recently returned from POP (Hi Lynn!) and she said housekeeping was very nice about providing some extra bedding. Another option - if the two boys would always sleep together - it is to request a king room for the kids, giving your dd more floor space.

I can't remember if it was dollar general or dollar tree, but I was able to find mr. potato head cut-outs (I think they were technically party decorations). Anyway, how perfect for POP window decorations! I've also been stocking up on the mickey paint sample heads from home depot each time we go...trying not to be obnoxious about it. Thanks for the reminder about the glow necklaces/sticks/etc. - so much cheaper to bring from home!!!

Ok, I know that there is the Shades of Green resort, but I was wondering if anyone knows if Disney gives any kind of military discounts on their own resorts. I've looked at the SoG site and I'm not sure if we qualify for it or not. I've really got my heart set on PoP but if we are able to cut some corners cost wise, I really need to. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. ( I think I might post this question on it's own thread too, just in case some Non Pop'ers might know the answer)

I don't think they (WDW) offer any discounts (mainly because of SOG). Also, if you don't qualify to stay @ SOG -- then you might not have whatever proof you would need to get any military discounts elsewhere. Depending on when you are traveling, it might be worthwhile to buy one AP in order to qualify for a discounted rate that way (in can be done with a child's AP to save a bit of money on the price). Good Luck!

What is your military situation? We qualified (husband is retired National Guard) but it was all booked for the week we wanted to go. What we didn't realize at the time is that if SOG is booked, they might be able to get you a discount at one of the Disney resorts. I don't know all of the details because we were already booked for Pop before we realized this was a possibility.

We just returned from 4 days at POP. this was our first stay at a Value, we usually stay at POFQ. We were VERY happy with POP, clean rooms, friendly CM's, food court with lots of choices.
We were in the 70's, this was close to the food court and buses. Yes the rooms are small but for just the 2 of us it was fine. We requested a King room and paid for prefered. We got a handicap room it was OK but we would have liked a bathtub with a better shower set up.

Unfortunatly Many walking around with lit cigs or smoking outside their doors. We observed several putting lit cigs in the trash cans or leaving the hot ash ends on the walkways- make sure you wear shoes on your way to the pool! It is not just this resort I am sure since we observed the same in the parks. I am a former smoker so totally understand wanting to relax with one but more caution needs to be taken around all the people and kids.....

We would be happy to stay at POP again, buses were fine and frequent- other than that very long walk to the stop in all the parks.....LOL But for a great value POP fits the bill.

Subscribing!:cutie: I am waiting for 2008 packages to come out to book connecting rooms for early June. Will I have trouble getting connecting rooms for then? Thanks!:ccat:

does anyone know if you can fish in the lake at POP?

My understanding from all other post from people that have stayed there says YES you can fish but I think there may be areas where you can't though.
Hope this helps.:goodvibes

Yep, when we were there, my husband saw a few people fishing. Just looking into the water around the bridge, you can see huge fish just swimming around. We were thinking that people feed the fish in that area so they know where to hang out to get fed.

We didn't have any trouble this April/May with connecting rooms, both were dbl/dbl . The connecting Kings are harder plus most Kings are handicapped from what they told me, meaning the handicap shower so if you request a King it will most likely be handicsapped!
