Hi all!

Just thought I'd post about our recent stay. We were there from August 10th-16th. We loved Pop! Customer service was very good! We checked in early before heading over to Tampa to check out Busch Gardens before starting Disney...got to the resort about 9:30am and our room was ready! They helped us bring all of our luggage over to the room. We were in the 50's section and close to the parking lots which was great for us since we drove! We didn't do any room requests, but really enjoyed this section. We liked the bowling pin pool and a few times went over to the hippy dippy pool as well.

The food court was good. We ate breakfast there once, and lunch or dinner a couple times as well. Enjoyed the frozen drinks for the refillable mugs!

Our mousekeeper was also very good and friendly. Her name was Winnie. She left little towel animals each day for our daughters. She said she makes them at home the night before! We tipped her with a little note each day. On our last day she left us a very nice letter thanking us for our generosity and kindness! Very sweet of her!

Also one day while inquiring about the express checkout at the front desk, my daughter spotted a workers pins and very shyly told me she liked them. The woman heard her and said if she would say hi to her, she might be able to find a special pin she can have w/out trading. (We were just from the pool and didn't have her lanyard with us.) Well she gave her a Tink pin! Very nice!

Overall we really enjoyed Pop!

Do they cahnge the pillowcases while you're there? - I'm bringing an allergy cover for little brother, it went missing last trip (off-site).

Thanks
Melani

We sometimes bring the kids pillows from home and just put it in the closet area in the morning. You could do that with the allergy cover pillow just so it doesn't get changed.

As I said a couple of posts back, we checked out Pop Century last week and really liked what we saw. We've never stayed in a value resort, always stayed offsite or at the Caribbean Beach Resort.

For all of you out there that have stayed at the CBR (or another moderate) and Pop Century, how did the resort compare? We will be at Pop for 10 days and our party is 2 adults and a 12 year old.

Just wondering about room size.....whether or not to rent a refrigerator or bring a cooler.

Also wondered about the bus service to and from the resort.

Hope somebody can help me out!

We always had a car rental, so I can't comment on the buses. But I preferred the layout of the POP to that of the CBR. (We had a baby at the time, so it was a little too spread out for us.) I also like the POP's food court and gift shop setup. Everything POP is great! We have had a cooler and a refrigerator. It does come in handy.

Wow! And I thought rolling silverware at the end of a shift was a drag when I waited tables.

Should you tip extra (above the $1/day/person) if you get towel animals?

Should you tell their supervisor if they're extra special - I mean do they get bonuses for customer satisfaction?

I hope Faye's gone in 9 days,
Melani

I love Pop! the rooms are not big but fine for 3 people! The bus service is good, Pop doesn;t stop anywhere else except sometines the water park, which is abig plus!!As for the fridge check out the budget board for fridge swaps!!Hope this helps!!

I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but how much do you tip per day. If there is only two people in the room do you only tip $2?

When I went solo last year, I tipped $3 a day as I keep my room fairly clean and don't require much assistance from mousekeeping except for topping up the H20+ bath products. This year, my sister is joining me, and I am planning to tip $5 for the both of us each day. I think this is fair, and reflects what I normally tip at other hotels when I travel for work or for pleasure. Hope this helps!

OMG I am so excited I can barley breathe let alone type! I called last week to request a special needs room. Later when I tried to use the infamous code the CM said we were in building 7; I looked at the map on this thread and saw it was way far away from Classic Hall. So tonight it was quiet in my house, ( a rare occasion) so I called special needs and asked them for a closer room. After I explained there was no preferred rooms @ the POP DEC 6- 14 ( because the whole resort is sold out) the lovely CM said their was availability for a preferred room! Well I figured go for gold and asked to apply the code and IT WORKED!!!!:cool1:  I previously had a $120 balance because I upgrade our tickets to water park and more. Now WDW owes ME $ 52. after the preferred room up grade.!!! How or why this time there was availability I do not know. I have called twice a day, and looked online and there was never any availability!!! DO NOT GIVE HOPE!!! I know the code didn't save us a ton but we got preferred room and water park and tickets ( plus a little extra pocket change for the price of our original package!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes The CM was the most wonderful person!! This has really made my night!! Thank you to all the your disers who told me to keep trying!!!

Thanks!!

I've got a few questions! Where do you get milk/juice/fruit from if you don't want to pack it in your suitcase? Do you use Garden Grocer? We don't really want to use it but we may have to. We're not driving or renting a car so going to Wal*Mart etc. is not possible.

We used garden grocer. The delivery fee was $12. We ordered milk, yogurt, juice boxes and water, as well as some snacks. We bought a mug so we really didn't need the juice. We also had a lot of water left over b/c we just asked for the free ice water in the parks and brought in mixers to have a flavored drink. Pop held our food for us since it was delivered before we arrived. We'll use them again if needed!

I believe you can buy milk & juice in the food court (multi-use size/larger, not individual size.) Can someone else confirm?

I have six days to go and lots to do so please excuse my quick post.

Getting a mousekeepers email address can lead to long term friendships. Mine, from years ago , is now the head of housekeeping at that resort and has gone through horrible medical problems and I feel like she is a dear friend. We get together each trip.

If you are a DISer and in dire need of grocery items I am willing to bet that if you should run across a fellow DISer with a car they will either pick up items for you or take you to WM when they go. We are that kind of people.

A code for an upgrade to a preferred room? Do tell???:woohoo:

My tip envelopes are on my coffee table and ready to get filled with cash today. One more thing off my list.

We had adjoining rooms in building 1, 50's building. Room 1454 smelled so bad of smoke, we had mousekeeping come in 3 times to spray the room. QUOTE]

Yikes!! We requested the 50's section! DD loves Lady. Are the 50's buildings former smoking rooms?

I did ask the CM if Building 1 had ever been a smoking building and she said yes it had been. Maybe she was just saying that because I was complaining about the smoke. does anyone remember what building were smoking? My husband ran into someone on the elevator and they were complaining how they were just that day caught smoking at Pop and were fined $250. :cool1:

We went to the food court last week just to check things out. We specifically looked at the items in the grab n go section. There was definitely a large size container of milk. It was $2.99. I remember seeing juice but I don't think it was a large size. I think they were more on the pint size.
