I've read conflicting info, so not sure what to do. Will be at POP on May 13. Now, I've called the Disney number, and put down my room preferences (60's or 70's building, high floor, not facing pool). Now, do I :

- call POP directly 10 days before leaving to tell them my preferences (which sorts of defeats the purpose of calling the Disney number IMO)
- fax POP
- should I do online check-in or not?

Everyone seems to have an idea on the best way to go. This is my first time staying on property.

It is only a request and if when you get there the room isn't where you want you can always ask to change !!They will look to see what they have available to suit you!!When I go solo I always ask for ground floor and have always got it!! I have never faxed in or called closer to the date as I don't think it makes a difference !! Just check that your request is on the reservation !!

You have done all you can do previous to your arrival. :)
You cannot fax POP - they no longer read faxes regarding room requests.

When did this start? If this is true then that section of the opening pages should be updated. I haven't been since 2009, but at that time I faxed requests and mostly had them fufilled. Though really you can't go wrong at Pop!

Those who have stayed in King rooms and the 2 double bed rooms - do you feel you have more space in the king room? I have only been in the 2 double bed rooms and didn't feel crowded, but I am considering a Mom/daughter trip and I thought maybe I would try and get a king room because DD will probably want to sleep with me anyway - so why have 2 beds? At least with a king I'll have more space to sleep. So I was just curious.

I should have worded that differently.... You can still fax POP but it is my understanding that ,because of the large number of faxes resorts were receiving, they no longer read them. I also believe that room assigments are now computerized.

I disagree. From what I have heard, Pop still reads some of the faxes, but no guarentee. I will still fax my requests in in the future.

I have faxed twice and not faxed twice...and the 2 times I didn't fax I was put in a totally opposite spot of what I wanted. Even though I had my requests called in.

We told the boys today that we are going to Disney

Their first question..."are we flying on a plane?"
Second question..."are we staying at POP Century?"

Our last trip to POP we had 2 rooms. 1 with a king for me and DH and an adjoining room with 2 double beds for the kids (our own family suite:laughing:)
I can say that it was perfect. We did have more room with the king bed and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

If you think your daughter will want to sleep with you anyway, I would request a king room but be ok if you get 2 doubles. There are not as many king rooms as doubles so a king is only a request.

:woohoo:

I have faxed the last 2 times (requesting 4th floor, lakeside & last year I requested a king in one of my rooms since my DH had just had emergancy knee surgery and we really needed the extra room in the bed) that we have gone and neither time have we gotten any of our requests. With that being said, I did not do on line check in, and the CM's were FABULOUSE and helped us get into a room with a king and lakeside, still did not get 4th floor, but we were in DISNEY and it was FABULOUS!!! :cool1:

I will try again this year and hope for a 4th floor, lakeside but if we don't get it, no problem, we will be at DISNEY!!!

So neat. I know when FD was re-released for my dates. We are upgarding to CBR I had to show my kids the pool area. They love pop. But by the time we upgrade the plan pay for a fridge the upgrade is only another 420.00.

I will miss pop's food court that is for sure. Nothing like there loaded nachos and the tie dye cheesecake.

Have you stayed at CBR before??? We stayed there our 1st 2 trips to Disney, just a couple of things to consider before dropping an extra $420 IMHO
  • the rooms are the same size as the value resorts
  • the food court is nothing compared to POP
  • if you end up in one of the buildings close to the check in cabana it is a loooooong trek over to the food court and I think the ones that are closer to the food court are preferred
  • when we were there, the buses make their way around the entire resort (but it was off peak season and it wasn't crowded)
We do like CBR but no way do we like it better than POP. If we were staying in a moderate, we would go back to PORS but still not better than POP:laughing:

  • I agree with you, I am a huge Pop fan and I will stay there every time vs. paying extra for a moderate, however....

Disney's moderate resort rooms are slightly larger at around 314 to 315 square feet, while the value resort rooms sizes are around 260 square feet. So you are getting a larger room.

Are there elevators in the buildings at POP. I know the rooms all have outside access. I can't imagine hauling luggage for 6 people up to the 4th floor we have requested.

If so, where in the building are they located?

I can assure you there are elevators !!I became the first person in 5 years to be stuck in one !!:rotfl2:I abused the Panic bell:lmao:My daughter who was by the pool saw all the staff running to the elevator just before I called her !!:lmao:So I knew help was on the way !!I wasn't stuck long and as I said I was the first in at least 5 years !!

Oh wow! I couldn't tell any difference at all. Maybe since we had 2 rooms and maybe since we didn't stay in the room much:rotfl:

Thank you for correcting me, I sure didn't mean to give out wrong info;)

This is the setup we are hoping to get. We know 1 or both of the younger boys will climb in bed with us at night. The thought of 4 of us in a double makes me go :scared1:.

I am getting so excited! :) We leave on May 29th and today is May 1st!!! :) :) It is getting CLOSE!!! YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure CBR is the biggest of the moderates.....but no elevator there.

I failed to mention that when we got there, they had us in 2 double rooms and had no king rooms available the first night. We moved to 2 different rooms the next night with a king in on and 2 doubles in the other for the rest of our trip:thumbsup2

This is our 1st trip to WDW and we will be staying a POP! Online check-in on Friday and we leave on the 16th . We are so excited :yay:.
