I agree with you, I am a huge Pop fan and I will stay there every time vs. paying extra for a moderate, however....

Disney's moderate resort rooms are slightly larger at around 314 to 315 square feet, while the value resort rooms sizes are around 260 square feet. So you are getting a larger room.

Ok now I'm thinking of staying with pop. Here is some of the reasons. We pefer the QSDP so that cost should be taken out of the savings. Because we proably wouldn't upgrade the dining plan. We would rent a fridge.

Doing the math. I'm going to need around 200.00 in tip money and at least 2 mugs. I get 4 mugs with the QSDP. We will need to get breakfest foods for the girls. We usually use some snacks in the am for the girls or extra cs credits left over from the 2 ts meals we want to do. Dh and I aren't big breakfest people.

The 750.00 is alot of money.

Does anyone know the cost of a fridge?
Thanks

Kelly - just wanted to add - We have stayed at 2 Mods previously (POFQ & CSR) - I also agree with the pp's - for us as well, the extra expense of a Mod isn't worth it. We didn't love the theming at either, CSR was just waaaay to big for us ( we did enjoy the pool area), and we definately didn't love either of the food courts. If you are a definate for the QS plan, I think POP is the best choice for food court options and variety. I have looked at CBR a few times only because of the cool pool.;) But I can never justify the extra expense for it. IF someday I feel the need to spend more on a room, I will wait for a good deal and pay the extra for a Deluxe - now those I feel are worth the extra $$$$ - We loved our stays at Poly and AKL.

Kelly - I believe the cost of the fridge is $12 a night. :)
Thanks!!!

Thanks so much. That is the thing I think we are mostly staying there for the pool. But we are doing a day at TL so I don't really see the need to spend the extra 750.00 now just for that. Minus the 108.00 for the fridge. The beds are the same. That is another thing I know where ever we are at pop we will be close to the food court. Which we love.

So I just need to call tommorow to switch from the kids free to the FD promo. So glad the re-released it for my dates. Do I just tell them I would like a fridge when I call?

Last year we did a styro cooler but by the end of 10 days it was leaking so we had it in the tub.

Just a quick plug for the Pop food court. We're DVC members at SSR, so we stay there alot, but when we're not at SSR we're at Pop. We totally love the food court. The fish sandwich is on par with a gourmet chef owned restaurant in our town's historic district. Its just on a paper plate instead! :lmao: The selection is 2nd to none. The drink refills are easily accessible and you can fix them yourself. At some resorts, particularly deluxe, you have to hand your mug to someone behind the counter. I don't like other people touching my coffee except at Starbucks! :rotfl: At Pop, I can get lactaid milk from the food court manager (Kevin). I have never asked, but I'm sure they might even have Almond Breeze, which is my latest favorite coffee creamer.

We didn't rent a fridge because it would have been $98 for our last trip, so we brought in our cooler (we drove) and filled it with ice that we refreshed daily. But that only woks if you've got stuff in it that won't get soggy. A tip though, during the summer, Wal-Mart and probably other stores like it, sell dorm fridges for less than $100 and you can keep it and bring it back every year (if you're in your car). I had it in my shopping cart, but then I put it back because I was unsure of space in my van since we were transporting my son to college with ALL his stuff. Turns out it would have fit if removed from the box. Maybe next time (this August).

Reason # 452 why I love the Disboards - I wanted to know the window size at POP for my window decorations ( yup, I am one of THOSE people;)) - 3 second search of this thread and I found my answer:goodvibes.

37 3/4" x 59" - in case you were wondering.

I am trying to think of a cute saying for my window decoration. I was thinking about "Having a POPPIN' Good Time". Does anyone have any cute sayings that they have seen?

You 2 are getting close to your trip. Have a great time!!!:yay:

Ok all booked at pop with our FD. Yeah I love saving even more money.
Does anyone have any idea how much a taxi cost to the nearest grocery store?
Dh needs some adult beverages and we need some milk. I'm thinking since we just need a couple of things a taxi would be cheaper.

Thanks!!!

Thanks I did. But our problem is that we are there for 9 nights so our dates overlap. Since we leave on a Monday. We might do the cooler thing again. It worked out ok and was a lot cheaper.

KELLY...we thought about this as well but on Amazon. You can get a dorm fridge for about $80 with free shipping (we are flying). We decided we didn't really need one but if we had done it, we would have just donated it to another POP swap when we left since it would have saved us $$ over renting

Also something I looked into recently. I found a place online that had a fare calculator and it said about $25 each way to the closest Wal-Mart. We are thinking of just renting a car for a day so we can make multiple stops, no tips, etc. A bit more of a hassle to rent but it actually comes out just a bit less than a taxi. However, it's probably cheaper to just buy onsite if you only want a couple things

Hooray for booking!!!!

We've used Garden Grocer on 3 trips recently when we didn't drive & I highly recommend them! :thumbsup2 We ordered bottled water, pop, gatorade, breakfast foods, bread, milk & even some beer. I just had to fax them a copy of my drivers license to verify I was old enough, LOL Our food has always been delivered the day we check in, so we didn't have to waste any time during the trip shopping, which was very nice.

I think we are using wegoshop because they don't up price, Garden Grocer up charge was expensive!!!! I am gonna split the cost with a few people I think so will cost next to nothing for wegoshop's fee

Are all the rooms in Pop upgraded to the flat screen TV setup?

We are staying in a preferred room if that matters ...
