lets talk bed bugs .. those of you that were recently there - was it a problem? A friend of mine had a friend that just came back and said it was a huge problem.. however, I have not seen it on here so I wonder how accurate that report is.. anyone care to chime in?

Any hotel has a small chance of having bed bugs from those who bring them in from their homes or other hotels. That said I have heard reports here and there of them at different Disney hotels, but not that any of the resorts have a huge problem with them.

I just checked the bedbug registry site and nobody has reported problems at Pop with bedbugs. :confused3

PS there would not be a problem with love bugs during this time of year.

As far as I know, POP ahd NEVER had a problem with Bed bugs, but some of the All Stars have.

Actually, I have read of bed bug issues at Pop, All Stars and a few other Disney hotels. If do a search for bed bugs at pop on the Dis you will find some reports. The reality of it is they can be found anywhere nowadays and checking for them is important Disney or not. Then there is the Disney rash or an allergy that I am sure some think are bed bug bites but are not. Last year my son came home with bumps all over his torso and arms that looked like bites and I took him to the doctor who told me it was hot tub foliculitis and the only hot tub he was in was at CSR. It took him over 6 months to get rid of it and he still actually has some marks and scaring from picking it.

Yes, all the Pop rooms were refurbed in 2010. New carpet, new bedding, privacy curtain for sink area, flat screen TVs on top of new furniture.

What a nice plus,,,,Can't wait to experience it !!!:)

POP has had multiple problems with bed bugs for the last couple of years! The bedbug registry has been deleting some older posts, but if you search a few different ways, you will find several bedbug reports at POP.

Almost every Disney Resort has or had bedbugs - more than you might think. There is an infestation in the US and Disney is not immune.:thumbsup2

Excellent example of how what appears to be bedbug bites could be something else. Happens all the time - nevertheless, as we've already said (Angwill and myself), bedbugs can exist at any Disney resort. ::yes::

We were there end of Jan beginning of Feb...no problem here and believe me I checked before unpacking bags.

We were there the last wk of Jan and didn't have any issues at all. Loved therefurbed rooms, too. It was a spectacular trip (other than it being COLD)!!

Thanks, that's the answer I was hoping for.:thumbsup2

The rooms look really nice. The carpet is soft and squishy. Love the hidden Mickey on the carpets too. The privacy curtain is fab when you are getting ready in the morning/night and you don't want to disturb others who are sleeping. Awesome! :thumbsup2

I know several resorts (including deluxe) have had bedbug problems. But I do know on the last Pop Thread it was posted that Pop had not had bed bugs yet. Of course that could've changed. And I haven't seen it ever reported on any of the Pop threads.

 That was an error which we planned to update when necessary - POP has had many authentic & verified bedbug reports since 2009.
(It would be impossible not to since it is guests who unknowingly bring the creepy little hitchhikers along.:thumbsup2 )

P.S. Jen, meant to add that I find it interesting that the two Disney resorts with the most BB reports (POP & CBR), happen to share a central housekeeping area. Old info from waay back when ;) was that originally Disney was going to add on to CBR, but eventually built POP instead, so they share the housekeeping area which can be accessed by an underground tunnel.

I was just at POP in January and didn't notice any bed bugs or bites or anything of the creepy sort. :thumbsup2

don't forget though, that bedbugs could be a problem in a single room or building and not effect other rooms or buildings. We had no problem last time we stayed at Pop, we stayed there at least 1 night on 2 trips and 8 nights on another, all in 2010. And we also stayed at Saratoga for a week, twice in 2010 and had no problems with bedbugs. But that doesn't mean someone else didn't. The thing to be cautious about is if someone had a bedbug problem, would they know to report it to the bedbug registry. I just found out about that registry myself. If I'd ever had a problem in the past, I would not have known to report it to anyone other than the resort or Disney management. So, that's why those reports can not really be exhaustive or complete.

Bed Bath Beyond sells a bed bug spray. Not sure of the specifics, because a friend told me about it. But if you are really concerned, might be worth looking into. I always pull back the sheets and look at the mattress w/ a flashlight and inspect the dresser drawers. I also try to keep our stuff off the floor.

I saw that. It contains pyrethrin I believe it said. But since I'd heard that bed bugs are sooo hard to kill, they're infamous for that. If it was so easy to use a spray, then it wouldn't be a huge problem. I somehow doubt the spray would work well.:confused3

The spray does not work. It is sad the a company is playing on the fears of consumers for their money.
If you research to any length about bed bugs you will discover there isn't a "spray" magic to get rid of them. They have to be professionally taken out period.

So friends research before you waste your money on these gimmicks.

As for POP, just back 13 days ago. We had no issue with bed bugs.

I have nothing to add to the bed bug conversation except to say during our past 3 trips to POP we have never had a problem.

I really just came here to post that I officially reached double digits for my countdown to POP. :dance3::dance3::dance3:
