Will be back at Pop *tomorrow*!!! I am just a tad excited... :thumbsup2 Can't WAIT to be back "home"!!

We are not known for packing light, so we trip all over ourselves with 2 adults and 1 child. We bring all manner of unnecessary things. We drive down in a van, so I always think... "oh we might as well bring it just in case!". It drives my scoutmaster husband crazy because scouts are "pack what you can carry"! :sad2:

Hi, this will be our first stay at POP. I do not pack light either. Drive a Suburban and it will be full, like you, ifI think we might need it, we bring it.
Anyway, is there a section that I should request? I will be alone with my kids this trip so I will have to unload and load the truck myself. I do not want preferred, but I would like to be semi-close to the food court and buses and I also have to be close to the parking lot. Looking at the map I was thinking building 1 or 9. Any advice or suggestions? What looks good on the map isn't always great in real life. I don't care about a view or being close to a pool. TIA.

Scrambled eggs do not count as a snack credit.
I believe the Waffle Platters (do they have French Toast? I don't remember seeing it but that doesn't mean it isn't there;)) come with either sausage or bacon.
:)

ETA: Just checked on Allearsnet and I guess they do have a French Toast platter! I assume that would be the same as the waffles - bacon or sausage as a side.
Thank you, I wonder if I could sub the meat for something else? :confused3

Fruit does count as a snack.
Eggs not sure
Yes on the applesause
Not sure on the last one.

Are you on the QSDP?

Thanks, DD Loves applesauce and its a quick and easy snack for her!

We were on the QSDP last year and we just used our snacks for the girls for breakfest foods. They usually got a danish or muffin to share since they were huge. This year we have to pay for Reese she turns 3 and I'm trying to figure out the whole 8 snack credits a day. LOL

lol we have no problem using snack credits! we could use the 2 a day, but with the regular dp we only get 1 a day. We LOVE those breakfast snack items. I love my bagels and danish and DH loves the cimamon rolls! We try to give our DD fruit, cereal, or eggs for breakfast.

What about individual or a bunch of bananas?

just so you know....you can use any of your credits in any way you want!!

2 TS one day, none the next, 2 snack credits or all in one day if you want...but when they are gone, they are gone....

We stayed in building #2 in the 50's section, facing the parking lot. We had a car and thought it was a great location. We were steps away from the car and from the bowling pin pool. It was about a 5 minute walk to the main bulding. :)

As the pp mentioned, you can use as many as you want each day. :)

LOL sorry my wording was misleading... I meant as in the 2 snack credits per night, we have used the dining plan many times before :)

Ironically, we tend to use one cs and one ts credit a day, we can't eat all the food ts give you twice in a day! but we sometimes save an ts for check-out day, using 2 cs in one day!

I'm so excited to go on my 1st Solo trip to wdw!! What would be a good bldg to try to request??

I have been on 3 solo trips and LOVE them !! Only stay at Pop !!Have stayed in 50's and in 60's and prefer 60's as is closer but 50's is very quiet !!! Going SOLO is my favorite way as I have no kids or daughter to plan around just little old me !!!:banana:

I've done the solo thing at Pop twice and love it too. The first trip I stayed 50's, facing the lake. I left the room at 7:30 or 8:00 each day and didn't get back until sometimes 1 or 2 in the morning. I stayed for EMH or special parties. It was a little creepy at night. No one was around and I just felt unsafe.

Second trip, I requested 50's but pool view. I had the best room ever! 50's, 4th floor, corner room, facing pool. :lovestruc Very quiet but not isolated. I came back to the room on several days right before long lasting thunderstorm's. I could stand out on the balcony and people watch. I would've been lost if I had been on the backside of the resort.

Planning my next solo trip to Pop for the half marathon next January. :cheer2: Looking forward to both the race and my stay at Pop.

We are staying at Pop for the first time starting next Thursday - we are soooooo excited! The long term weather forecast looks great so far, especially given that it was below zero here this morning!

We are a family of 4, 2 adults, 11 year old, and 9 year old. We did not get a preferred room. Is it worth trying to try request a specific building/area? Will all non-preferred rooms face the parking lot? I would like to be as close as possible to the dining area, but we can certainly walk if needed.

I know the main pool will be closed, which we were pretty disappointed about. It seems they must have know it was going to be closed when we booked in November, and I do wish they would have told us. Hopefully the other pools won't be too crowded.

Thanks for any suggestions about the building and if/how to request something specific!

I think with less than 10 days to go you may not be able to make a room request at this point. The procedure is to call and update your reservation with the requests you want, but your current room may already be assigned. You may be better off checking on your room assignment when you check in and ask for any changes at that point. Others can confirm if I'm right on this.

As for non-preferred room locations, no, they don't all face the parking lot. There is a map link in the first post of this Groovier thread that labels where the preferred rooms are, and so everything else is non-preferred.

My personal preference is for the 50s buildings 1 or 3, but any of the 50s, 60s, or 70s buildings will be convenient to everything. The only location I did not like was building 8 / 90s, which seemed far from everything.

Ok, thanks for the info - I'm sure we will be happy where ever we are as long as we're at Disney!

Hi, Reenie!
We get in on Thursday, too - DS15 and DD11. We are meeting friends from MN, so our request was only that our rooms be close by each other. I'm bummed about the pool too but considering it was -3 without factoring in the wind chill today, I'll just be happy for the FL sunshine! We're leaving NYS next Friday and will spend a few days on Daytona Beach...:goodvibes
My friend and I are running the Princess Half marathon on Sunday - so if you hear two nutty middle age moms talking about "what the heck were we thinking?!", it just might be us!!
Happy travels!!:flower3:

I received a survey ( a long one) and they asked about adding one and it would be nice to have one. This will be our 6th straight year at Pop and a couple of times I thought it would be nice to have for my aching feet and back! We love Pop and try to stay for at least 2 weeks for every trip.:surfweb:

Even though it is close, I would go ahead and call in a room location request - it can't hurt and you can always ask at check-in (before your keys are made up) where your room is located and if they could find you a room that meets your request - this is often possible at check in.

A nice location, which is no longer preferred, is 60's bldg 5. It would be back side of the bldg, quiet, still near the pool, buses, food court etc and possibly a view of the lake. Here's what I would request asap:
1. bldg 5
2. 4 th floor

Have a fabulous visit!!!:goodvibes
Definitely ask at check in if they can find you a room in bldg 5, 4th fl (or wherever you'd like) - the CMs at POP are usually very friendly and helpful. :)

Just did our Online check in for the first part of our trip!!!:yay::yay::yay: It's getting so close I can't wait.

I think a hot tub would be out place at POP. Personaly I would love a hot tub to soak my feet In at night:cool1:. But I think it might be out of place at POP,saying that just because with all the little ones running around you just might not get a chance to relax In it. Who would blame them a little pool for little tikes:woohoo:, so I think they would run into a crowd around one hot tub. But thats just my oppion it seems to work well at the Mods so what do I know??

:cool1: just book our flight to the world Sept the 19th on delta, awsom buy 2x ow tickets for 240.00!:cool1: That much closer to returning home!

I am so very happy I found this thread :yay: I just found airfare in August from Manchester, NH round trip for $155 so I couldn't resist :woohoo: Since I wasn't really planning on another trip, I want to watch my pennies :thumbsup2 I decided on Pop Century and from what I have seen so far, I will be very happy with my choice :dance3: I will have great fun over the next few days or so reading all the threads and posts here so thanks to everyone :thanks:
