That sounds encouraging.. even though the computer assigned your room, you still got what you want - so there appears to be someone looking at the special requests or the computer has some logic where it can check to see what requests have been added.

I am looking for the same building as you - Building 6 - Top floor facing the lake. What was your opinion of the walk from bldg 6 to the main hall?

2 years ago we stayed in building 4 top floor facing the lake and it was very quiet and nice. We want to branch out a little this year because it seemed we never went anywhere but the hippy dippy pool and the main building - this year I want to explore pop a little more so staying on the other side will be nice.

We are still trying to get the game plan for the kids - I think the story is going to go something like - daddy has a trip he has to take and we have to take him to the airport.. something like that and then we might not even tell them until we get to security.. should make for a good video!

After we booked the trip we asked them if they wanted to go to the beach or disney - of course they said disney. We told them we would think about it after school was out for the summer - so they know we might go later in the summer.. should be fun!

Now that's a car ride I'd like to take! Your kids are going to be so excited once they figure out where they are going :dance3:

I made my room request when I booked the trip through Walt Disney Travel Company. In our paper work under "special request" and "please note" it stated connecting rooms in the 70's section. Other than that, I never called, emailed, or faxed anything. We did regular check-in (vs early check-in)because I also wanted lake side and preferred to talk to someone about that extra request. We arrived to the hotel at 3pm and was in our room by 3:30. Hope that helps.

Have a great trip :yay:

Thanks for this report. I was thinking of requesting a 70s room ... did that put you pretty close to the Goofy water jet play area?

Yes, we were very close to the Goofy water jets but they weren't on when we were there. We would pass Goofy when going to Classic Hall but not when we went to the buses (we found a short cut through building 10 that which was a quicker was to get to the buses). I think everything is much closer than it looks on the map. A lot of the 60's section is preferred rooms which means more money however, the 70's was just a close to the buses in our minds and we didn't have to pay extra for it.

I do have one question though. Do the Goofy's pop jets ever work? They didn't work when we were there last March and they didn't work this trip.

 First the Hippy Dippy rehab and the questionable status of the kiddie pool, and now I'm reading that the pop jets aren't operating either? :sad2: Ugh, if both are down I may as well not even pack my toddler's swimsuit, because she doesn't like pools that are over her head but loves places where she can wade and splash.

Does anyone know what the odds are that they'll be working in March?

And please, for anyone traveling in the next week or two who will be there for the start of the pool rehab, could you report back about the status of the kiddie pool?

Which is building 10? Is it the one with the Big Wheel?

Thank you so much- y'all have given me some awesome insight- it's so scary booking for someone you love when you've never been- I added the room request- no guarantee, of course bu it doesn't hurt to ask, noted his bday on the ressie, an even managed to get him a ding fare on southwest Whig save so much I booked him am extra night at pop and still save $80 woohoo! Got the ME added on too- now if only I could squeeze into his suitcase ;)

3-25 to 4-1 :) Hopefully good weather!

Yep, we'll just miss each other.

I do have one question though. Do the Goofy's pop jets ever work? They didn't work when we were there last March and they didn't work this trip. Also the flowers at the Hippy Dippy Pool weren't working either. My dd asked a lifeguard and he told her they were broken. Could be the reason for the refurb I suppose.

.

In the past, the jets worked off an on when we were there. (it's been 2 years since we last were there) But it seemed a lot of coller days or sometimes mornings they were not on.

I have what seems to be an idiotic question... when my TA booked my package, I gave her my room "requirements"-- 4th floor, lakeside, bldg 2-3-4 with illuminations view. When i checked in online, there is nowhere to state this information again. Have I just messed up by doing this? Or does my original info still stand??

:confused3:sad2:

A few Pop food questions:

Does a cup of fruit count as a snack credit on the DP?

Do scrambled eggs count as a snack credit?

Do they sell individual serving applesauce?

What comes with the French toast and the Waffle platters? Eggs and Potatoes?

Thanks! Working on our food budget for our Sept trip!:cool1:

Fruit does count as a snack.
Eggs not sure
Yes on the applesause
Not sure on the last one.

Are you on the QSDP?

Do you know the hours the POP "restaurant" is open? If I show up, let's say, at 10:30pm, could I be able to have some table service meals for dinner?

Thank you!

Everything Pop! is open from 6am to midnight. At 10:30pm you should be able to get entrees still, but beware the offerings may start to get limited by that time, as between 11-12 things start to wind down.

Great! Thanks for the fast reply!

We are on the Regular Dining plan, but we have a 1.5 year old, who eats a ton! and she loves scrambled eggs for breakfast!

We were on the QSDP last year and we just used our snacks for the girls for breakfest foods. They usually got a danish or muffin to share since they were huge. This year we have to pay for Reese she turns 3 and I'm trying to figure out the whole 8 snack credits a day. LOL

I have not seen the pop jets open for a few years now. We were there last August - it was hot-hot- hot and they were not on all week

That is so funny because that is almost the same as what I asked for. Let me know how it turns out. I am wondering if I should not check in online as others say it is harder to get what you want.

Your requests won't show up at online check-in. But as long as you (or your TA) gave Disney your requests, they should be there. I checked in online last week, then called Disney the next day just to double-check that the computer still showed my requests (which it did.)

What I'm not sure about is if you can call Disney to check your requests if you booked through a TA. You might have to have your TA call and check.

You are correct. She will have to go through her travel agent, but as long as the agent put them in, they're there. With online check in, the only requests you can put in was 4 things, and I'm not recalling what they were, but one was crib.

The request is just that. From what I read, with the new system, the computer assigns your room. the computer can't see your requests. I think that a CM goes through and checks requests about 10 days out and see which ones they can accommodate. If you don't get your request, you can always see if they can change you right there at check-in. But as they say, your requests are never guaranteed.
