The GROOVIER New Pop Century FAQ Thread Chapter 3! ~ Posts #1 & #2 are MUST sees!

Ive been looking on the boards and can't find an answer to my quesitons, so Im going to post here. I hope this is the right place.

We are booked at pop for the end of Aug. I got in the mail a run down of our reservation. It has the normal, room, tickets, ME info plus a bunch of vouchers I don't know much about.
Bass Fishing Offer, does that means you get a discount on a fishing trip or one person can go fishing for free?

Mini Golf Voucher? Again one person plays free or at a discount?

Sammy Duvall Offer Voucher? I have no idea who Sammy is or what the offer is.

Any feed back you guys have would be wonderful. Thank you.

Usually those vouchers say exactly what the discount is

Since there are no direct buses between resorts, you'll need to transfer at a park. To get to AKL from pop, I'd transfer at either AK or DHS and then take the bus to AKL. For BCV, take the bus to DHS and then either take the boat or walk to BCV.

Thought I'd start a whole bunch of trouble! Just got back from POP the other day. One morning, DH and I were riding in the elevator with another guest and a bellhop. The guest and the bellhop were talking about the Legendary Years and DH asked the CM if they were ever going to do anything with the buildings. The CM said that they were getting ready to start work on that side of the resort. Didn't get any other specifics since the guy was busy. We shall see what happens and if this is actually the case.

Maybe they will make family suites over there, or maybe a value DVC!

by the looks of the pictures I have seen, the first thing that will need done is demolition. Maybe they are hoping the whole fantasy land expansion will bring even more of a market.

What we've been speculating for a lonnnggg time is somewhat reality. The Orlando Sentinal has announced that the Pop Century will not expand with the Legendary Years. Instead, on the land where the Legendary Years would have been will occupy a brand new value resort, Disney's Art of Animation. This resort will be comprised of suites with a completion date for sometime in 2012. Check out the link above for more info. I've also updated Post #1 with the news.

Wow! Sounds very cool!! Suites that fit up to six, cute themed areas, getting rid of the ugly stuff there now Only drawback sounds like Pop might have to start sharing busses?

I know!!! That's one of the biggest draws of staying at Pop! I just can't see them being that close and NOT sharing....?

Thanks for the link! Sounds like another version of ASMovies...and wonder if the 2 resorts will share buses? Awfully large resorts to share, but never know with Disney since even YC/BC/BWI, Swan and Dolphin often share buses.

Happy for families they will have more options.

Glad to hear that , this area is finally going to be finished. And although I think that the theme of the resort is cute , I think it would have been better to just keep the original theme. They should re-name the generation gap bridge that connects the two resorts and possibly re-theme that too, so that it will tie the two resort themes together.

Often times the busses are packed when they leave the Pop, at least in the mornings so hopefully they won't share. I've never stayed anywhere other than Pop so I don't know what that would be like but I imagine it would not be good!

Wow! That is really big news! It was my dream to have family suites at POP but I think it's kinda sad that they aren't keeping the same theme - especially if they're going to "attach" the 2 resorts via the generation gap (or whatever they end up naming it) bridge.

But with 2000 rooms that really doesn't seem likely. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part. Oh please don't turn our beloved POP into another AS!

I read about this probably close to a year ago, but at the time it came from a unreliable sourtce who said Pop itself was going to be transformed into this Animation resort. Ohters figured it would be Legendary years converted to this. I am so happy something is finally being done though.

WE loved pop buses last year. I so hope they don't share. But I can tell you where we will be staying in 2012! I do like the idea of the suites we are only a family of 4 and for our long stays. I do find the rooms at pop a tad on the small size. We may be switching back to pop to save some money. We would really like to get 2 rooms at pop this year. But I don't want to pay for them if there not connecting. I have to have one of my windows replaced in my 3 year old house. Ugh

Wonderful news about a new Value Resort.

This summer's trip is the last for my family in one value room. My 3rd child turns 3 in December so from then on he will count as a person at Disney and our family of 5 won't be able to stay in one room. I just wish that the Family Suites weren't more expensive than 2 value rooms. For future trips we will most likely be staying in 2 connecting value rooms....

Thats great news with what there doing with the legendery years Buildings. I love the Idea of themeing them after the movies!!. Where planing a Oct of 2012 MNSSHP tri and would be great to stay there.
