I have really planned all out on this vacation staying at AKL. I got mickey mail today and my 4 year old doesn't want to stay there. I even showed her the pool slide. She wants to go back to POP. She told me she wanted to take a shower in the flower. I'm now trying to figure out if I should change to POP and just save myself the 1400.00. Which by the way if we stay at POP are whole trip with the free dining for 10 days is 1675.00.

That 1400.00 is almost another trip. I do really feel sad she don't want to stay there.

We pretty much just sleep, shower and get dressed at our resort. I, myself, would just save the $1400 toward our next trip. We LOVE Pop.

It has been two years since we were at Pop, and I can't remember if it is ok to take some pool toys for the kids. I don't mean big lounge floats. Just a few little dive toys, googles, maybe noodles, squirt toys, or even the smaller sized wave boards that they can lay on their chest on.

Thoughts?

When we were in the Bowling Pin pool 3 weeks ago, there were people using noodles, balls, frisbees, sqirt guns and goggles. (If "googles" wasn't a typo, I don't know what it is.) The life guards had no objections.

Oh mercy! Yes, googles should say GOGGLES. :rolleyes1

just want to say thank you to the OP and all this great work and info and the links to other info threads (window decor and scavenger hunt)

we'll be staying at POP for one night in Nov before transfering to our DVC home...this is great! :thumbsup2

We will be at Pop beginning July 3rd. Originally, I had requested 60s facing the pool. The most important request for us, though, is a refurbished room. Those in the know: Do we stand a better chance of getting a refurbished preferred room or refurbished standard room? I will gladly switch to standard if it increases my chances of a new room. Thanks!

At this point I think ,mos tly standard rooms have been refurbed

Thank you. That's what I gathered from the thread about the refurbishment. I think I'll switch today to a standard and the only request will be a refurbished room.

You're most welcome! I'm always so happy to hear that people find the comprehensive collection of info in Post #1 valuable and a time-saver as they are planning! I just need all of you to help me keep it current!

With that said, I'm off to update Post #1 to mention that there are not movies shown poolside. :)

So the kids and I are going to Pop (minus DH who has a business trip) for 4 nights. :dance3: DD still naps and DS does not. I was wondering if I asked for a 1970's room ground floor with a view of the playground if I could watch him play from just outside the room while DD naps and the door is slightly ajar?

Thanks!

Even though it is so far away, I'm so excited that I just booked a vacation for April 2011!! :yay: I work as a high school teacher and have been twice in the summer but want to try during my April vacation. The summer heat is an absolute killer

Just booked a 4 night trip for September! So excited that I was able to talk DH into it. This will be our first time staying at Pop!

How about brining along a baby monitor and a little outdoor folding chair (or even a blanket would do)? Sit outside watching your son play while your daughter naps...with the baby monitor you're still in earshot. Not even farther than if your daughter napped while you were in the backyard at home.

but the playground is somewhat enclosed with shrubbery you would have trouble seeing your child and I believe your door will likely have a hedge between it and the main walkway. The playground is on the otherside of the main walkway :sad2:

Just my suggestion.

Depending on the time of year you are there, you may want to rest at the pool. Son can play in the pool and daughter could nap on a lounge chair. If she is anything like most kids I see here, they can fall asleep anywhere. Bring an umbrella to give her some shade.
