We are staying at Pop for the first time in September for our 10yr anniversary and my b-day!!!

Can you tell me where I should request if I want to be in a more quiet room? We don't mind walking too much but would prefer to be close to the bus stop too.
Thanks in advance.

 Usually a quiet location will put you a bit further from the buses...but honestly, it is not a long walk at all. We've had much longer walks, than the furthest POP room, at the Poly, CR, AKL, BC and BWV!

Decide which is most important and request no more than 3, in order of importance. For instance:

1. Quiet location
2. close to bus
3. 4th floor

If you request lake side, 4th floor, that would be quiet no matter where, but some of those are at the other end of the resort.

If you read through the first page of this thread, you'll find loads of helpful info. Buckeye Gal has done an incredible job & keeping it updated. ::yes::

Have fun planning and have a great trip!! :goodvibes

Thanks - I may request exactly as you say. I don't think the walk is a big deal.....it's good for us! Noise will be the biggest problem - you don't want to be around my otherwise wonderful hubby when he has had a horrible nights sleep:scared:

How many wall sockets are there in a Pop room?

With my cameras and batteries etc I would be hoping to have 3 sockets. I never even thought there might not be 3 until just now.

One of the best tips I ever got here on the Dis was to pack a power strip. We plug it in the outlet by the table and then each night I plug in everything to be charged in one location (cell phone, camera batteries, camcorder battery etc.)

Also, we will have our son with us.....are the King Beds better than the two double? He usually crams himself in between us every night anyway in our Queen (Sadly, this is one reason he is an only child:rolleyes::rotfl:) and we could do the King if they are more comfy.

My husband will be grumpy if the beds stink, there is alot of noise and the bus waits are awful. Hope we don't end up with all three:scared1:

Thanks in advance.

I've stayed in 6 different rooms at Pop and I haven't had a stinky bed yet. If I ever do I would be grumpy too. I also wouldn't stay in that room very long.

I have had some long waits for a bus at Pop. That's why I usually drive myself. Some people will swear they never wait more than 5 minutes for a bus. I'm not so lucky. One time I waited 35 minutes for a MK bus. During that time 3 Epcot buses came, loaded and left. When the bus finally came it was standing room only and some people didn't get on. Of course the ones who didn't get on were only there about 10 or 15 minutes.

We have stayed Deluxe and Moderate and both times at least once we had rotten bus service. We are not those lucky people either;) It wasn't bad enough to not use it but enough to remember it....What I especially loved was waiting ALL that time for the bus at SSR and then have people walk up and BUTT directly in front of us so we couldn't get on. Just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy:sad2: Especially, with an Autistic child who doesn't understand:confused3

Anyway, I am actually looking at the picture thread and it looks so colorful and fun...I think we will have a great time!

Thanks everyone.

 If quiet is most important, then here's what I'd request:

1. Lake side
2. 4th floor

Ok, I've read the first 50 pages (must be a slow reader :rotfl:) and I see that a coffee pot is not automatically included in each room. I've also read that I can request a coffee pot, but might not get one, based on avail? How have you that have stayed Pop before handled this? I must have my coffee and necsafe doesn't count? Do you think i will get lucky and get a coffee pot, or should I start working on plan b?

For the most part in our several stays at pop (we always take busses) the busses have been really good when you average how many times we rode the bus compared to the long waits. However, I have had waits of 1 hour 15 minutes Pop to DTD at noon and people were furious since it was August and over 100 degrees with the heat index. I also had a wait of 1 hour for Pop to MK at about 3pm which is supposed to be the most frequent bus. Also one trip DHS was 1/2 hour to 45 minutes for a bus every time we took it from pop to the DHS or DHS to Pop. All these were when we just missed the bus and thinking about it now all waits were on our two stays in Aug and Sept 08.

You can join a Pop frig swap that has a coffee pot included! I know the one I am in includes a coffee pot! I don't know if we have your dates open but it's possible! They are free all you have to do is make sure you have all the information for the person after you! You are respnsible to get it to that person via in person or thru luggage services most swaps prefer via person to person to be sure the items aren't lost! So check out our swap or another swap if we don't have your dates open! all swaps can be found on the budget board! Hope this helps!!!:thumbsup2

Our swap is the Hoppin' at the Pop Fridge Swap!

I haven't ever heard of them being able to provide a coffee pot to the room, so maybe brining your own is an option? I stayed at Pop 2 years ago with just my girls. Usually DH is the one to make the coffee run to the food court in the morning with our refillable mugs. Since he did not join us that trip, and I wasn't going to run to the food court every morning, I brought my own coffee pot and Dunkin's coffee. I got it cheap at CVS (like $10) and it brewed right into a thermal travel mug so I didn't have to worry about a glass carafe breaking in transit.

I agree with Minnie&Nana and MelanieC. 4th floor, lakeside is what to ask for.

There are no coffee pots available at Pop from the resort itself. You must either bring one or participate in a swap.

And you MUST have one because the substance that's served in the food court called "coffee" is nothing you want to drink! :scared: Vile, nasty liquid!

Bring a cheap coffeemaker and some of those premeasured coffee packages. (Arbuckle's is the brand I get around here.) You can buy milk at the food court and keep it in your cooler, which you bring along with the coffeemaker.

You can't even rent a coffemaker at Pop, and a fridge costs $12 a night. If you're staying a week, that's $84. You can buy a very nice cooler for that kind of money. :)

I was wondering, I have a compromised immune system due to a weak heart. Should I call the special guest services line and ask that my blankets and room is thoroughly cleaned or does that sound rude??? The bedspread situation at any hotel just really freaks me out. TIA!!!!

I came across this while looking for Disney info. It may help you.
explorethemagic.com/hotel-room-disinfecting-fogger.asp (I can't post links yet, so just copy the address and type www in front of it.)
We have considered buying some because my DS6 is prone to MRSA.

Just going to say too, that their is no coffee makers at pop.

That is being nice about it - It's worse than vile - lmao :lmao:

Thank goodness for iced tea - gotta have my caffeine fix somehow.

...snip...and a fridge costs $12 a night. If you're staying a week, that's $84. You can buy a very nice cooler for that kind of money. :)

This is what I did--there are some great coolers out there now that guarantee to keep food cold for FIVE days! Back in 2004, after we lost power for 6 days due to one of the hurricanes, we lost about $500-750 worth of food in our fridge and freezer. I decided to get a big ol cooler, to try to save some of the food if this happens again.

Mine is a rubbermaid coolmax (I think) chest-type cooler. We brought it to WDW last April and I won't do WDW again without it! We filled it the night before with ice and sodas (sodas were already chilled) and put it in the trunk of the car. We stayed at Pop for 4 days and when we left, there was probably 80% ice left in the cooler! We never refilled it the whole time we were there, eithr! It was great! I think we spent about $30 on the cooler (which has paid for itself MANY times over) and $5 for 2 huge bags of ice from Sam's Club.

As for coffee makers--I don't drink coffee, but I was pricing out small ones for this trip and you can get a small guy (I think a 4-cupper) for uner $15 at Walmart. Then you can have whatever kind of tea, coffee, hot choc, whatever that you want!

We used a cooler instead of renting a fridge as well.

We had a nice cooler with wheels that we used in the van during the drive. DH also picked up a cheap styrofoam cooler when he got groceries that we kept some drinks in at the resort. If he needed to refill the ice during the trip, he just wheeled the cooler to the ice machine. (But it did last for several days.)

We're planning to use the same cooler this trip. $20 or $30 vs almost $200 for renting the fridge.

There are a number of fridge swaps going on at both the POP and All starts, some also include a coffee maker. Some have a small buy-in of $10-15 dollars, but that typically covers the full length of stay. Much nicer/chearp to share a fridge already at WDW than renting one and no dealing with coolers and ice and all that. THere are 19 or so fridge swaps at the pop, check them out on the budget board and see if your dates are available!

Does the cafe have unsweetened ice tea? I can't drink soda and I don't drink anything but diet so I'm really limited to unsweetened tea or water. TIA.
