Does the cafe have unsweetened ice tea? I can't drink soda and I don't drink anything but diet so I'm really limited to unsweetened tea or water. TIA.

Hi there!

They certainly do. Check out the Food/Dining section in Post #1, and you'll see the complete list of what they have available that isn't bottled.

We've done this for the last 2 years and it has worked very well. I'm not a fan of the weak coffee served at Pop and we make our own in the room, keep the milk on ice in the cooler and bring the coffee with us when we buy breakfast. The ice makers at Pop are very good - we use the melted water at night for water.:thumbsup2

We are planning a vacation for Thanksgiving 09. How far in advance do we need to book at POP to get a room?? Any Advice? This will be our first Thanksgiving week stay.

You can book now, and then change things if you need to. I really din;t know how crowded it becomes at Thanksgiving weekend, but I would guess it is pretty busy.

I think it's one of the busiest days. Below Christmas, Easter, and New Years, but still pretty high. Touringplans has it at a 9 right now. I know that attendance drops off SIGNIFICANTLY a few days after Thanksgiving, and prices go down (because it switches to value season for ~two weeks).

At one time I had read this whole thread (and the ones prior!) and I remember people talking about bring an air mattress. DS and I stayed at POP last year but I just can't remember the spacing in the room well enough to figure out where to place the mattress if we bring one?:confused3 DH is going with us this year and DS will be 13. I think we will all sleep better if we have one with us. I remember reading that we can lean it against the wall when we leave for the day. Anyone have any pics with an air mattress in the room?

The tips I learned from this thread last year made our trip so much better! I would have never thought about the shoe rack or shower curtain to close off the sink area. Disers definitely rock!

We just returned from a week at POP. We used a twin size air mattress for our DD7. We flew so I bought one at Walmart that came with a foot pump. ($20)No problem fitting it in one of our suitcases.

We moved the table and 1 chair down to the corner closest the window, put the mattress on the floor between media centre and table. The 2nd chair we put in closet behind shoe organiser I brought.(lifesaver) Because it was a twin mattress we didn't have to move it during the day there was room to get by it, I do believe that a larger mattress would fit there, that you would have to move during day.

We still had room to store a double jogging stroller inside the door.

The mattress proved comfortable as we played a little musical beds one night and it was my DH that slept on it!!:lmao:

Sorry I don't have a picture, but really it worked out great. We ended up leaving the mattress there as I couldn't get it to fold up as small after using it.

Have a great trip.:)

As long as you don't need to use the door to the connecting room, here's what we did. We moved the table and chairs all the way to the corner by the closet and slid the dresser/tv down that way, so we had the rest of the wall free. We were able to put the packnplay crib and park two strollers on that wall with room left over, so a twin mattress would definitely fit.

I think some have put it between the beds, but I thought that was fairly narrow and would worry about the person getting stepped on.

You can join a Pop frig swap that has a coffee pot included! I know the one I am in includes a coffee pot! I don't know if we have your dates open but it's possible! They are free all you have to do is make sure you have all the information for the person after you! You are respnsible to get it to that person via in person or thru luggage services most swaps prefer via person to person to be sure the items aren't lost! So check out our swap or another swap if we don't have your dates open! all swaps can be found on the budget board! Hope this helps!!!:thumbsup2

Our swap is the Hoppin' at the Pop Fridge Swap!

Thank you for the responses! I'm sure I read somewhere that Pop has a few coffee makers that can be provided on request - but that you have to do it at the front desk, not with CRO? But if this isn't the case, I will definately have to figure something else out. We are only going to be at Pop for 3 nights so it doesn't make sense for me to try to do a fridge swap, since we arrive late and leave early and I dont want to tie up my time trying to swap. But I do agree that the swap idea is great especially for those staying a bit longer. I guess I am going to have to work on plan b. If I bring a small coffee maker - where would I set it up - on the bathroom sink or is there a plug by the table that has the two chairs??? Is there an expresso maker swap:rotfl:? That I would be willing to tie up my time for!!!

I know there's a pic on the first page of the safe with a laptop in it. But, does anyone have a picture of the safe with multiple items in it. We usually stay at the CBR and I've been able to fit a portable DVD player, PSP, set of keys and all of my husbands meds. in it. Just wondering how much I can fit in the Pop safes.

LOL - Yeah expresso maker would be heavenly :)

There is a plug behind the table with the two chairs. I use it for recharging all my gadgets. I'd probably bring some kind of hot plate (something that will keep the table from getting too hot) if I were going to use it there.

I've never heard of any coffee makers available at Pop, but I think at one time the All Stars might've.

These are not super huge. Our portable DVD player wouldn't fit in there (too large), but it's the kind that plugs into the car or a tv. Maybe the tiny ones that just run off a battery (and probably a plug might).

We keep our laptops and DVD player in the room (not really hiding them) and have never had a problem.

I'm pretty sure you are NOT allowed a hot plate in the room.

We bring an electric kettle and a camping coffee maker/filter that we got at REI. It works great for us! I love having the kettle because then we can make tea, hot chocolate and instant oatmeal in the room as well.

Here's the coffee maker from REI:

It was about $3 (on sale).

Sorry - wrong wording

Not a hotplate. One of those things you put under something (it's not hot) that absorbs heat. Like if you had a hot pot on your table, you would put one under neath the hot pot. Dang - can't think of the right word. I keep wanting to say hot plate, lol.

:thumbsup2 Gotch ya! And of course I can't think of what it is called either right now. LOL!
