The Everything and Nothing Thread

Woo! Had to go back a whole lot to see what's transpired since I posted this morning... so this is definitely one of those threads that if you don't keep an eye on it, you'll miss anything and everything! :)

I'm recognizing this...true story lol

Sorry for ALL the posts everyone lol .... I have a habit of doing one thing at a time... even if that means responding to ONE post at a time hahaha :)

Wow, this west coaster is often late to the party, and today it's a big one!

I guess I'm the oldest one here - 53. I don't think I'll be a grandma for awhile yet, my oldest daughter is 26, and though she has a steady boyfriend neither she or my youngest daughter (23) are anywhere near settled down.

Love the grandma and grandpa names. My niece said Nam-ma for gramma, so my mom is Nams. My dad was Papa Bear.

I've lived my whole life in Oregon, so it's natural that I love it here. The rainy season is long, but the summers make up for it - sunny but seldom hot, and low humidity.

Hello to those joining in!

I've had fun checking in here to see what everyone is up to, and love hearing about what your lives are like from places all over!

Joan

Happy Tuesday afternoon, everybody! :goodvibes

This thread is starting to remind me of those memory games you play with a big group of people: You know, like "This morning for breakfast I had an apple. This morning for breakfast I had an apple and a bagel. This morning for breakfast I had an apple, a bagel, and coffee......." I'm having a hard time keeping everyone straight, so forgive me if I get stuff mixed up! :guilty: But it's fun getting to know everyone!

autumn - My DD is 25 and my DS is 22. My DD has alot of friends getting married and having babies, too, and she thinks she is never going to get married. No boyfriend, and now, not much time for one anyway. She just finished med school and is starting her residency, working very long hours. But I tell her she is still very young and there is plenty of time. She could meet someone, fall in love, and elope. Hey, that could save her dad and I alot of money! ;) No big 3 million dollar wedding like Chelsea Clinton. My DS has 1 semester of school left. After that? Who knows! He wanted to teach HS English, now not so sure. As long as he can support himself, I don't care what career he chooses. And he is in NO hurry to get married! My niece has a BS (in Biology I think) and started nursing school last August. I think she is doing the 2 year RN program, too.

lara - I'm with you on the heat and humidity. I could use some cool, rainy weather about now. My DH would love to live somewhere like Montana. He loves the cold weather and hates our summers. But after reading this thread, it seems like the people who live in the cold north want to come to Florida, and the people down south want to move up north! Glad you were able to find the Kona coffee at World Market! I've never been to Kona Cafe, but it must be good cause so many people make it a have-to-do restaurant. I have no idea what a press pot is, so I'll have to Google it to check it out!

Dax - So sorry you have another migraine. I hope by now that it has gotten better!

bamajen - Hi! :wave2: Glad to "meet" you! And you are right - it doesn't take long to fall behind on this thread! :faint: I've already asked someone a question I had already asked them , so don't worry if you get confused!

Jo - Love your grandparent names! My Mom was "Moo" to her 4 granchildren (thanks to my nephew LOL) He had a little speech problem at first and "Grandma" kind of morphed into "Moo". Oh boy, I bet your DH would love to know that his nether regions were being discussed on the Dis! :lmao: That story had me laughing out loud all by my lonesome!

Disneylove - Welcome :welcome: A newlywed! Congratulations!! One thing you must know about Jo: she LOVES her Florida Gators. ;)

Pakey - Yay for not having the cough anymore! :woohoo: Isn't it funny how you just all of a sudden notice, "Hey, I'm better!" That is definitely a cause for celebration. :dance3:

Shelly - $110 :woohoo: I was WAY over! I should have asked my DH. ;) He would probably have guessed low. I know sometimes when I get something on a big sale, and I'm so proud, I'll ask him to guess how much I spent. He'll guess something ridiculously low. Kind of deflates my balloon, you know?

mari - Congrats on nursing school! A Disney cruise sounds like the perfect graduation gift. I mentioned earlier in the thread that my DH and I are hoping to take an Alaskan cruise next summer. We've never been on any cruise before. So I'm accepting all advice anyone has on Alaskan cruises! :)

Janet - I would try your method for posting, but I am not good with computers at all, so I would probably not know how to do it that way. :guilty: So I guess I'll just have to cross my fingers that I don't lose another one! I'd love to do an adults Disney trip one day, but my DH is kind of like yours - he pretty much goes for the family. Although he does love it when he's there, I just don't think he would pick Disney if it was just the 2 of us.

Monny - Hi! If I'm remembering correctly (big IF) from the MAYer thread, you just remodeled you daycare area. Is that right? It looked great in the pictures you posted. Hoping those were your pix.......;)

Dizno - Well, it's your lucky day! You are not the oldest one here. I've got you by one year. :sad1: Well, I didn't win Shelly's contest, but I won the oldest on this thread contest! I love "Papa Bear" :lovestruc I'm going to file that one away for my DH one day!

OK, crossing my fingers once again. It's pretty sad when you break out into a cold sweat as your finger clicks "Submit" :rotfl:

My heart did skip a beat when I posted. I got a message saying I had 27 images posted and the limit was 25. So I cut 2 out and then it went through. That was a first for me! Never posted too many smilies before! But that's the Everything/Nothing thread! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:  :woohoo: :upsidedow

Welcome Disneylove! Great pics! :thumbsup2

JO - I always thought your mom's name was Maggie! :rotfl:

Jane, you are cracking me up today! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Janet, change is good- but it is hard! I hope this is the beginning of an even better stage for you! How is your daughter coping with moving up to middle school?

I may look at taking a college course (something fun) next year. My DD is really looking forward to 7th grade ... it's her Mom that is more nervous than her. :goodvibes

Jo: :rotfl:Thanks for the comic relief today - you should show your DH your post today.

Momof2 – I was way off in my guess! Congrats on your finds :thumbsup2

I do believe I'm the oldest one here although I'm certainly not claiming it for bragging rights; I turned 54 while I was in the hospital last month. I quit acknowledging birthdays at 49 anyway. I have one son who is 29 and two wonderful stepsons who are 34 and 31. I've been married 26 years and got really lucky in that he's a great guy with great kids and the best ex wife in the world (we have all become great friends and have vacationed as a family several times).

I live in central California, probably one of the worst places in the country. I've lived in Mississippi; Minneapolis, Cape Cod, and I went to college for my bachelors and masters in Missouri. My husband and I can't wait to retire and move somewhere else. Every place I have lived has been better than here.

I don't know any of you from other threads; I'm just random like that and I hope it's ok that I joined this one.

Okay, I'm going to admit that I didn't take a guess on what Momof2 spent shopping because I so seldom buy clothes anymore that I have no frame of reference - but wow, what bargains!

Pakey - Any thoughts on where you'd like to retire?

Joan

Disneylove- Ahhh that sounds just perfect! It must be lovely living so close to the beach. I'm from Toronto but yes, Montreal is a great city. My favourite place in Quebec is Quebec City, it is a walled city and you feel like you've stepped into France when you're there.:lovestruc Vancouver is also lovely, as is the east coast, out in PEI in the summers.

I'm not too far from Buffalo, we go there often to shop because we don't have Target up here! Oh, and we eat at IHOP too!

Joan, I've never been to Oregon. Those summers sound perfect though! Papa Beach is such a cute name.:goodvibes

Jane, you do such a great job of replying to everyone! I really am impressed! Wow, congrats to your daughter on finishing med school, what an awesome accomplishment! I actually would like to elope. Just looking at all the wedding planning sites and magazines sends me over the edge. It looks like so much work and worry and $$!

Janet- Glad your daughter is looking forward to 7th grade! I didn't go to middle school (my elementary school went right up to 8th grade) but I was terrified of starting high school. My mom pretty much had to shove me in the door the first day.

Pakey, I'm like you, I don't know anyone either! I'm sure glad you're here though! :grouphug: I'm also curious to know where you're thinking of retiring!

Hi Disneydiva!!:cheer2::flower3:

HOly cow Jane, I know you were glad it went through!

I'm about 2 hrs away.... maybe a little over if traffic is bad. I'm in Jacksonville, FL.... North East FL about 4 mi from the beach :) Not a bad run!! lol

My Dad grew up in Buffalo, NY... I've heard about those winters ya'll have!... However, my boss went up to Canada for Vaca (Montreal I believe?) and couldn't STOP talking about how beautiful everything was... and how cool the city is set up... esp for winters... ahhh :)

Hi Disneylove! I am your Western neighbor! I live about 4 1/2 hours from you. I live right above Panama City.

Ok since everyone is posting about themselves, here we go!

I am LA (I don't mind telling anyone in private my name, just not here because it's not a common name). I am 37, I have a DD 13 going on 30 and a DS 9. I am a recent Disney addict. My first trip was last Oct, the first time in my life I ever went. I work in a certain field (again, I don't mind saying in private) I am not a spy. LOL I was born in CA, now live in FL (22 years) been married for almost 15 years and now going through a divorce. I love baking, cooking, ghost shows, True BLood and all things Twilight. I have brown eyes, red hair and freckles. Oh and I love all things from the 80's. Kinda sounds like a EHarmony add right? LOLOLOL

Hi Disneydiva!!:cheer2::flower3:

Hi ~disneydiva~ ! How are things in Dallas today?

Joan

Things are great! HOT!

I guess I'll tell a little about myself too! My name ~disneydiva~ or you can call me Darcy. :) I'm 28 and I've been married for 8 years. Yes...I got married when I was 20. Oh and we met online! He's a great guy and I wouldn't change a thing! We don't have any kids. Love them, but we love returning them even more! We both love going on vacation...especially DISNEY!! Yes...he loves Disney as much as I do! I am "one of those Twilight fans" :). Too many favorite tv shows and movies to list!!

I'm one of those people that LOVE twilight also.....

If you're not a spy... are you secretly... a tomb raider?:rotfl::scared1:

(sorry, lame, I know... I've hit the 5:00 slump:laughing:)

Nice to "meet" you! Sorry to hear about your divorce:hug: hope you are holding up okay! I've never watched True Blood but I must admit, I do enjoy the Twilight movies too! I am a Jacob fan.:thumbsup2

I think I'll do an intro too although I think I've already said a lot of this before.:goodvibes

I'm Autumn, I'm a university student in my early 20s and I'm working on my BSc. in Psychology. I live in Toronto with my lovely golden doodle pup, Lily. I'm one of those embarrassing pet owners who refers to themselves as their dog's "mum" LOL. I work two jobs- I nanny for three boys down the street on weekends and some evenings and at a hospital for children with disabilities in therapeutic recreation and therapeutic swim. I LOVE working with those kids, they are some of the most amazing people I have ever met even though most of them are non-verbal.:lovestruc I am also pretty active in my church, I am a Sunday School teacher and work on the fundraising committee for the missions teams. I am also a dancer, ballet specifically, and blonde, tall and very lanky and VERY pale. I think that's about it!:goodvibes
